Uh... no, they were pretty good for Gen 3 standards
Which were pretty ****ty standards to begin with but I'm not going there.
...only problem is how it didn't allow Johto evolutions to happen until you got the National Dex
They also interrupted the storyline near the end but nobody remembers that. :4megaman:

Look. RBGY were bad games. I'm not riding the genwunner boat- these games only have nostalgic value. At the time they were great games, but that was then. Remaking them was nessasary, but it was too early, and they did a terrible job at it. That's why I feel FRLG were terrible games in comparison to HGSS and ORAS.
Dude. FRLG was anything but a failure. Financially they sold really well, like any other main series game. They were quality games too.

I think another Kanto remake is a bad idea too, but I think your distaste for Gen I may be distorting your view a bit.
Selling well means nothing when you're talking about a remake. Especially of RBG. The games that held a place in many peoples' hearts. That's why they sold well.

My view on the remakes are not blurred, I can assure you. I played them both, and I didn't like them. That's called a personal opinion, something that's a forbiddance on the internet.

Pew! *gets out of the bag* :p

*checks miniors data* but minior doesn't have a gender :dazwa:

I honestly hope we'll see more Alolan forms of non fairy type Pokemon to convert to the serperior fairy type  with Stars. It'll be interesting to see those who have regular forms in Sun moon to gain Alolan forms

Opinions are all well and good.

Calling FRLG a failure, however, blows right past opinion territory and goes into factual incorrectness. There are actual ways to determine if something is a failure. GameFreak wanted to remake Gen I. It sold well when they did. Ergo, it factually wasn't a failure.

My problem with FR/LG, besides the outdated mechanics(as of now), is that it didn't feel all that special compared to the actual Gen 1 games. The whole national dex-evolution issue was bad enough, but a lot of the roaming Pokemon were just plain awful. I couldn't much enjoy them compared to the other remakes, which were overall better quality. Also, the biggest issue with Gen 1 was inventory space. That never got fixed till Gen IV.

And I do mean Yellow in that sense too. Just more fun for me.

I don't think we need any Gen 1 remakes right now. Gen 1 is doing fine without them, so it doesn't really do anything unique. Down the line, sure. But D/P/Pt need remakes more, as they have some serious issues that need fixing. Removing the HM mechanic would vastly improve them, as well as wayyyyyyyy better speed of the game itself. That said, please keep the search radar that was only in the regular Gen IV games. Stoutland Search is kind of annoying, as are the other versions. I like the fact that it gives you a strict idea of where it is, although that may only work with 2D games due to the grid-like movement.

FR/LG were hardly failures by any stretch of the imagination. Doesn't mean you should have to like those games, of course.

There's no point in affirming it was an opinion because the fact it was an opinion would've been ignored anyways. Yes I should of said it was but we're already here, so that's the way it goes.

And yes. I believe that they- FRLG- are failures, but not in the way you're assuming. Financially- yes they worked. They passed the test, they get a gold star. But as remakes- as games being brought back from the past, I feel that they were shoddly handled and almost everything new in the games were not handled appropriately. The story cutting at the end for an unnessasary sidequest is still my biggest gripe because if you're making a remake- you don't **** with the game like that. Not in the storyline. HGSS didn't do that. ORAS didn't do that. That's part of why they were good remakes.

That's my view on those games. They were bad, and remaking RBGY now is also a bad idea.

I wonder if in stars were are going to get more alolan forms

Maybe the fighting alakazam and water arcanine ARE real, they just weren't added to this version.
I doubt Pokemon with Megas will get Alolan forms, because that'd complicate things a lot
I hope Oricorio gets new forms though, Capoeira Oricorio as Fighting/Flying pls

They were not bad at the time, being outdated is another story, and while some mechanics ARE outdated, they're still very much playable and enjoyable

And I have no idea what you're talking about interrupting the storyline, it follows the exact same plot as the originals with the Sevii Islands being added

Ugh, I feel out of touch. I haven't posted in here in far too long.

For the record, I'm in the camp who thinks we'll probably see 6-8 new characters.
Unless there's DLC or annual-semi annual updates like I mentioned before, I honestly doubt we're getting that number of characters. The cynicist in me believes they'll call it a day with Inklings and a Gen 7 'Mon and maybe a vet or two. Funny how my position has changed from last year when I was in the belief we would get over 10 new characters. December of last year has made me cynical I guess.

I'm with you. I'm expecting five added characters at MOST, with three or four being more likely.
Though I wouldn't call mine pessimism since Inkling+Gen VII+Vet is a trio I'd actually want, thankfully. :p

The "one remake per handheld" is seriously one of my biggest pet peeves as far as annoying fan rules are concerned.

Lack of Gen III remakes in Gen V was the exception, not the rule. There are far more things pointing to a Sinnoh remake than not.
Hasn't that been the pattern so far though? I mean, unless we get two remakes in one handheld, it's probably better to assume one remake per handheld.

Besides, with two generations per handheld being the norm now, I think a typical console lifespan can only take that much (2 new generations and 1 remake) before getting saturated.

8 Pokémon games per handheld is probably too much.

If you guys really want to solve this "One remake for handheld thing"

They could always just release it on the switch

I love how the rumored Nintendo Switch ports stop me from buying games.

Me: "Hey, maybe I should buy Hyrule Warriors Legends?"
Inner Me: "Switch port with have all DLC"

Me: "I really need Smash WiiU, Smash 3DS is literally unplayable"
Inner Me: "Switch port with Inklings and Decidueye"

Me: "OMG RAVIO IN HYRULE WARRIORS"
Inner Me: "Switch port will have him included for free"

Basically I'm playing Splatoon 1: Connection is Unstable version till March

Also, I think we're not getting a gen VII character in the rumored 2-character Smash Switch, I feel they'll heavily base it on the uncompleted Smash4 characters that didn't make the cut and/or the ballot

I'm playing it safe this time round by not expecting more than 2 characters and the ones that are a given at this point. Back in November/December I went crazy with speculation after Cloud who I was hyped for and said hype came back to bite me in the ass a month later. It's a product of hype culture I guess.

I guess it's nice for Inkling fans and PKMN fans though so good on them.

Yeah, but it'd be a different handheld and therefore viable for a remake to come out on it, going by the standards of one remake per handheld.
If Stars is indeed real, then yeah, a Gen IV remake on the Switch sounds quite reasonable.

The main appeal of a remake imo is the technological jump. So, going from the DS to full HD is pretty appealing.

So would seeing 3D Sinnoh on the S/M engine.

The fact that she's the only old character to return WITHOUT a redesign despite having a Key Stone gets to me.
Not that Cynthia doesn't have one of the best designs as is, but still.

Spreading the word, if anyone here has a Shoryuken.com forums account that was made before December 2016, I implore you to fill out this Marvel vs Capcom Infinite DLC poll which will be later submitted to Capcom: http://forums.shoryuken.com/discussion/213364/srk-mvci-character-dlc-poll-ends-when-2016-ends#latest

Remember, these same polls that were done for UMvC3 allowed for X to be in MvC:I, so your vote matters! :)
The Shoryuken poll I added earlier was merely there for convenience and fun, alongside the Pixiv and Neogaf polls. It was the Capcom Unity polls that were brought to and even mentioned by Capcom, specifically these ones.

Closest race was Daredevil and Black Panther who actually tied.

8 races were within 20 votes of each other

92.18% of you all don't know what a good marvel character is :p

Top 10 Marvel characters took ~62.5% of the votes.

Top 2 Marvel took ~19.6% of the votes (biggest gap being Gambit to Carnage with 566 votes seperating)

Top 2 Marvel had 31.4% of the top 10 Marvel votes
And here's the capcom data from before to keep it all in one nice place.

Rank)Character Votes +Votes above next lowest (Percentage of people that voted for that character)

Sigma / Ryu had the closest race with Ryu beating Sigma by one vote

Bass.EXE / Jon Talbain and Frank West / Vergil also had close races with Bass.EXE and Frank West beating their opponents by two votes each

One out of every three people voting for Megaman X is a lot of people

Top 10 Capcom took ~64.9% of the votes

Top 3 Capcom took ~29% of the votes (biggest gap being Strider to Gene with 671 votes seperating)

Top 3 Capcom had 44.7% of the top 10 Capcom votes.
While the last 3 are just mostly there for fun, you might want to look into the Capcom Unity Polls, especially the Round 2 ones. While they weren't officially endorsed by Capcom, they were done by a Official Capcom Unity Mod and were even mentioned by Capcom. Especially for the Capcom characters, since Strider, Phoenix, Frank and Vergil were in Round 2, Firebrand and Nemesis were in Round 1 and Megaman X was Number 1 on the Round 2 Poll.

Not really interested in a remake of Kanto personally, I'd rather see a sequel set a decade(s?) after GSC.

I don't think we'll be getting Gen 4 remakes this Gen. Mostly a 65/35 type feeling.
