Oh please Lightning and XIII had nothing to do with this.

It's the fact that the game didn't play or feel like a JRPG, which turned a lot of fans off. Mobile gaming is also huge in Japan and while I don't think it was a huge factor, Sun/Moon did release recently over there too and those games are portable.

To be fair, console FF has been getting lower sales way before 13

It's also the bad trend of how consoles are almost irrelevant in Japan.

After noting that Wild Charge nearly OHKO'd Bronzong, I decided to switch Muscle Band with Electrium-Z to give Koko a one-time nuke rather then a small boost all around (I dont use Life Orb because my Greninja is using it). This is useful on not just Bronzong, but on a plethora of Pokémon in the Battle Tree who are bulky enough to endure a ETerra Wild Charge.

In theory, they apparently wanted it to work out similarly to the Compilation of FFVII, except instead of having one game and then expanding its mythos, they worked in the opposite direction with one mythos spawning multiple games. Originally that was just applicable to XIII and Versus XIII (later XV), then came Agito XIII (later Type-0), the sequels, and the other Agito. All of that was passed off between several teams who were told to interpret the mythos to their own discretion.

It also was meant to ease production of a few FF games going forward - this probably ties in more closely with Chrono. 's point regarding asset use; the creators noted they wanted to tell more stories involving the characters for the direct sequels, which may be true, but reduced development time is almost certainly why they saw the light of day as games and not one of the other half-dozen mediums they could've gone with, such as manga.

At any rate, shared mythos isn't a bad concept on its face. As to the execution, well, I won't badmouth a game I haven't played (Yet. Steam looms.) but the delves I've done through the FF Wiki regarding FFXIII have left me with more questions than answers.

More accurately, he's gotten a kiss offscreen and constantly tackled by his Bayleef. He's not getting any more than that. It's not subtle who has crushes on him. Misty, Bayleef, Anabel, and Serene. Not even the dub was subtle about this.

And it's a show aimed towards kids. An offscreen kiss is legitimately fair at this point. If he does eventually get retired, learning he's married would be fine. That said, I could see him not be married at all and just living with his Pokemon. He is pretty oblivious after all.

Rem is from the anime Re: Zero aka Groundhog Day: Trapped in Another World edition
She's like, the one character besides Subaru himself that gets any development in the 25 episodes the anime has(granted, it didn't fully adapt the WN but still) which means she becane everyone's favorite new waifu

I've been playing a lot more SFV and the game is actually getting fun for me but the load times are one of the worst I've seen in a fighting game in years and I'm talking Brawl bad.


Also I've been doing way better than I was in SF4 and I take that from how easy inputs are.

My main is Balrog and Cammy with some Karin and Ryu.

Honestly, with all the glitches I'm seeing from this game and the general incompletedness of it, it wouldn't have hurt them to delay the game one more time.

I bought the game and it hasn't gotten here yet, but I'm starting to regret buying it so soon when there's so much wrong with it.

Ah well, I guess I can always wait for the patch before hitting the latter half of the game.

The gameplay and first half if the story is still good. Then the second half falters storywise and falls on its face in chapter 13. Then you get to the end game and it's good again. The game has glaring flaws, but it's still a fun experience.

Not really. Japan's video game culture is just way different compared to the West. Consoles in general aren't as popular over there, whereas mobile gaming and arcades are. I remember readinging an interview regarding FFXV and how Square really wants it to do well in Japan, but were afraid console gaming is dead there. Also, iirc, Japan liked FFXIII.

Besides while it may have bombed in Japan, it's one of the fastest selling games elsewhere, 5 million on its first day worldwide.

On the GC VC

I'm so relived to hear this! I've been wanting a GC VC back during the Wii U speculation days and it looks like it's finally happening now. And one of the best parts about this is that SSBM on the VC means no Melee HD which i'm thankful won't happen. There's literally no reason for that to happen when Melee would do just fine on the VC.

Also if Laura hasn't been sniped by the ninjas yet I would be really surprised. This January event is turning in to the Smash Direct from June of last year when we knew almost everything in advance.
