Is it really a weakness when the entire purpose of a business is to make money and figure out more ways to make more money? Like, there are of course problematic ways of making money, but microtransactions aren't one of them.
I'm fine with micro transactions cause they're not forced. You can just buy stuff if you want.

During their inception, they were handled poorly, but nowadays, most micro-transaction, at least among big games, aren't bad. You'll find that games that try to use a pay to win model typically don't last because it's not a sustainable model. Properly handled micro-transactions should make you want them, but not feel like you need them to properly enjoy the game.

Pokémon GO is really on the go with these extra events.

That means more Stardust to finally max out my ghosts.

I did that last night.

You know that whole speech about Looker accidentally letting someone be killed by an Ultra Beast?

I checked Wicke's Ultra Beast files and it specified that it was Guzzlord.

That's. . .dark. :urg:

Makes naming it Gommorah even more on the nose than it already was, but in kind of a Funny Aneurysm Moment way. :4bayonetta:

It was incredible watching that many zeroes go into my money pile, though. Really reinforces how filthy rich an international organization must be.

. . .Still haven't dipped into the million yet. Guess I'm not ready to splurge. :4wario2:

Pokemon Sun Playthrough Update #5 incoming!

Current team:

Azura: Level 36

Toucan Sam: Level 33

Puka: Level 34

Selkie: Level 33

Mata Hari: Level 34

Urlacher: Level 33

Apparently, I couldn't explore the rest of Maile City until I found Kukui in Maile Garden first. Thank goodness there was a Pokemon Center nearby, because Hau's Alola Raichu from the last battle was scary! In those trainer battles at that location, my Azura finally became what she was meant to be: a Primarina.

So Kukui was chilling on one of the benches near the the ice cream stand and he told us where we head to go next for the upcoming trial: Mount Hokulani. After he left, I spent the time to explore Maile Garden. Turns out this area was built by people who moved to Alola from Johto just like I predicted. There's an ice cream stand there, and it looks like it's closed there during the nighttime. I bet that's where they serve Castelia Cones (I saw the Vanillish sign in front of it). You also can't go inside that yellow tower, which is sad because I wanted to see how the inside of it looked like.

When reaching the city portion, I encountered Samson Oak. It seems like the Rotomdex knows him well, because it immediately appeared in front of him. I also learned that the Rotom Pokedex was designed by someone in Kalos: Clemont anyone?

Now it was time to explore most of Maile City. The clothing store had some interesting clothes, particularly jeans. They also have a hat shop inside the community center, but I found nothing of interest there.

Time to head to that library like Lillie suggested. She explains she became lost while exploring the town, but she found a clothing store and bought some clothes; then the clerk gave her directions to the library.

At the library, Lillie searches for the ancient book she was wanting to read, and then...

Well whoop-to-do, ghost loli the Ghost Trial Captain girl has arrived!

We then read the book. "The Beast that Devours the Sun" apparently appeared from a hole in the sky, and the king bowed before it. The Island Guardians fought that beast but lost; yet, the beast gave its blessings to Alola. Then came a Beast of Moon, and it engaged a union with the Beast of Sun to create new life. "A fragile heir in Alola" was born, and the Island Guardians would protect it from strife. The ancient kings then sang their praise to Solgaleo, the Beast of Sun, via flutes.

So, putting the puzzle pieces together, we know that from pre-release information that Solgaleo was called the "Beast that Devours the Sun" in ancient times. The texts said it appeared from a hole in the sky. What hole in the sky did we see in the past? The Ultra Wormhole! What comes out of Ultra Wormholes? Ultra Beasts! You know what this means?

Solgaleo is an Ultra Beast!

And the same applies to Lunala.

The text also mentioned that "a fragile heir in Alola" was born from a union between the "Beast of Sun" and the "Beast of Moon." We know the Beasts of Sun and Moon are Solgaleo and Lunala respectively. Now, who could this "fragile heir" be? I'm guessing its Cosmog. Why? It displayed an interest in visiting the ruins where the Guardian Deities are, and the texts say the Island Guardians had to protect it.

Now the dialogue following this is interesting:

Yep, you're not reading that wrong. Acerola is a descendent of the Alolan royal family! That's pretty interesting.

It's a good thing you can read the text again anytime following this. They also had some texts that explore more about the lore about the Island Guardians.

Now I headed to the outskirts of Maile to fight some trainers there. There was a pretty interesting with a janitor and his son; the janitor wanted his son to fight me to learn something. We also learn the son used to be a Trial Goer but quit because it was too hard. Next thing you know it, he was working in his father's sewage industry. The janitor wanted his son to learn to grow up through that battle. Next you thing you know it, the son became the new head of the sewage facility. That's the basic gist, but it's worth checking out.

I then went back and fought Lana and Kiawe. Both battles weren't difficult.

I then fought the trainers in Route 10. I ended the day right before the Team Skull Grunts because it was night and my Mata Hari was very close to evolving; Mata Hari evolves into Lurantis at Level 34 during the day.

First thing I did today was fight the grunts. I opened with Mata Hari and switched into Puka. That Golbat was annoying! It got lucky with poisoning him via Poison Fang, and Supersonic only made it more annoying. I had to sacrifice some Hyper Portions, a Lava Cookie, and a Rage Candy Bar just to beat this bat. I eventually do, and Mata Hari levels up and finally evolves into Lurantis. I fought the next grunt, and that one was a much easier battle. It was Urlacher against an Alola Raticate. You can imagine how that went.

I then fought a wild Fearow to level up Puka to Level 34. It learned Discharge, a strong special-hitting Electric-type attack, so I decided it was finally time to evolve it into an Alola Raichu. I do just that. Gotta say, I like the interesting detail where they play a Hawaiian-style remix of the evolution theme when you evolve Pikachu into Alola Raichu. Does it apply to other Alola Pokemon?

Alola Raichu finally learns Psychic in the process. Stat-wise, while the Pokemon gains a boost in Special Attack, my Alola Raichu still has Attack as its higher stat. Luckily, it still knows Spark and Nasty Plot, so I think it might good with move coverage for now. I might replace Spark with Wild Charge once I find the TM.

Next thing to do is take on Sophocles and his Electric Island Trial!

Did Zack Snyder direct this?

I never saw Cars 2, but I'll defend the first Cars. If the movie fixes on Cars 2's supposed problems, I'll give it a watch.

Oh, god, don't remind me of the cold. It just suddenly super dropped yesterday in temperature. We suddenly have snow. I mean, it's latest November, so the snow is normal, but the temperature drop felt unrealistic.

Wisconsin has a major issue that way.
Thank god I have a space heater

I think Stars is going to have something I've been kind of wanting to see in a Pokemon game, so that's cool.

There's a guy saying he wants to make a Jurassic Park type place, so there could finally be an area with wild Fossil Pokemon in the third version!

...Okay, so I actually watched the first 2 episodes of the Sun and Moon anime, since I want to see if the anime appeals to me. Here are my first impressions:
I watched it in english since I don't really like subtitles.
-I just realized how much I hate it when Pokemon say their names rather than their regular cries. It's just so dumb. I'm okay with Pikachu's voice but I still prefer the old cry.
-The humor was annoying and cringy, specifically Samson Oak's "Pokepuns".
-Why is there Kalos music in Alola?
-Lana's voice is annoying.
-Lillie is portrayed extremely out of character, I know she doesn't like to see Pokemon get hurt but she certainly isn't afraid afraid of Pokemon.
Overall, wasn't impressed, but I'll probably continue watching it because I want to see how they adapt it to the game's story.

watching it in english is the fastest way to not like the anime

the only good english pokemon was, Ironicly, the old 4kids dub

Once they went under, so did the anime

The reason why I'm watching it in English is that I'm too used to it, and I don't like subtitles
I don't even fully understand english and I don't read fast at all, so if I watched it with subtitles, I probably would've gotten lost really quickly

tfw Veronica Taylor won't do Ash anymore.

To be fair, I haven't seen a good English fun of a video game adaptation anime.

Except for Kirby, and that's due to Southern Drawl :4dedede: and Antonio Bandares :4metaknight:

I don't think any of that was an English complaint moreso a Pokemon anime in general complaint.

Oak still did Pokepuns in Japanese
Pokemon still said their names, but in Japanese
Dunno about Kalos music, especially since I didn't play XY, but I don't think the English version changed the soundtack much, if at all
And Lillie is still portrayed as being afraid of Pokemon in Japanese.

The only complaint that's English specific was Lana's voice.

One thing I've noticed about Golisopod

You HAVE to start with him

He is REALLY hard to switch into, since essentially you have to worry about him getting to half HP

First Impression is awesome because it seems to have priority over other priority moves

Leech Life is great, and helps him keep from getting to Half HP

Liquidation doesn't have a 100% chance of lowering defense like people claimed. Meh.

It was funny fighting Guzma when I met him. He's like "I'm destruction in human form". Battle went like this:
Guzma throws out Goliscopod, I throw out Tsareena. It tries to do a priority move. Tsareena was like lol no and hit it with a bloom doom trop kick crit and one shots him. Then he brings out Golbat and I 2 hit it with my Charjabug.

So muxh for destruction in human form.

Gotta say, some of the move pools for these Pokemon are completely asinine (Oricoro cant learn Rain Dance, Charjabug cant learn U-Turn or Sticky Web.) It makes it really hard to add them to my team for maximum usage....

Rain Dance doesn't have "Dance" in its japanese name(it's also why it can't be copied by Dancer outside of other reasons)
Why would Vikavolt learn Sticky Web? It's not a spider, what's really stupid is it not learning the two switch moves which are both STAB for it
And Oricorio not getting any primary STAB outside of Revelation Dance and not getting Quiver Dance or any actually useful Dance move like Petal Dance or Fiery Dance
Like, yeah, that Atk stat is really gonna benefit from Swords Dance

Just completed the Ula-Ula island trials and well, as expected, Aether was up to no good. The first cutscene and Lusamine's creepy smile gave it away, but I think most of us guessed this twist pretty early on regardless. I have to say though, why are Pokémon villains so terrible to their children lately?

As for Team Skull, I love what they did with Po town. Yeah, the name makes it obvious, but the town really gives away the condition these guys live in as the town is completely run down, the atmosphere is depressing, and they just seem to live in a state of melancholy. Their lines also showcase their state as they all have a tinge of being downtrodden and living off of scraps essentially. So, while it was expected, it shows that underneath their bravado it is very apparent that they are tryhards because they literally have nothing else to themselves then each other, so the only way to make a name for themselves is to be a part of the team and act out. It was a good way for the game to showcase their background and get us to understand them a bit more.

Agreed, I was worried they'd just make it a no nonsense type Pokémon, but I'm glad they allowed it to be adorable in that mode. It shows that underneath that tough exterior still lies the cute little Wimpod we raised to greatness.

The sole fact that Inceniroar doesn't learn Fire Punch/Sucker Punch, Decidueye doesn't learn Brave Bird and Primermaid doesn't learn Perish Song hurts
