I always see Pac-Man as part of a larger Namco Arcade universe than purely Pac-Man. I mean, his up special is from Mappy, his neutral can summon a Galaxian, his Smash Run foe is from Dig Dug and he has a taunt dedicate to Namco cameos.

With that in mind potential second characters could be far more than Ms. Pac-Man, cartoon Pac-Man or a Ghost.

Dig-Dug, Mappy, Valkire, Bravoman, that Taiko drum thing, heck Tekken started off in Arcades so Heitchi is fair game.

Second character for a third party series? Sure! I totally agree they have gaming icons that deserve to be in that aren't just the ones representing them now.

Sonic: Tails/Eggman (Knuckles and Shadow are fine, but I'd prefer these two)

Street Fighter: Chun Li (Anyone else is just silly. She's the true female fighting gaming icon. It'd be ridiculous if anyone else but her and her thunder thighs got in.)

Mega Man: Dr. Wily/Tron Bonne/Zero ( Wily makes most sense and wouldn't just be another robot. Zero and Tron Bonne are probably the most popular spin-off characters)

Final Fantasy: Black Mage/Terra Branford (Mage is the most popular class. Terra is the most commonly associated Nintendo named character.)

Pac Man and Bayonetta are pretty well represented just by their main character alone however.

I totally agree! Also, having him be slightly slower but with better damage on moves would be good. I'd say...have his running speed be 3.0 compared to Sonic's 3.5, and have him do 2% or so more damage on normal ground moves and aerials, but with slightly weaker frame data or something.

Honestly I think Snake's coming back to Smash Switch. He had a huge ballet demand and a huge fanbase, is an iconic and big 3rd party, and Konami is working with Nintendo on the Switch. That says a lot. They might be able to work something out

They should have Sonic themed Codec/Guidance type interactions in Smash to cover that. Would probably get more conversation than hit grunts would.

And then have crossover interactions with the Kid Icarus characters for theirs.

That would be great and is why we need eggman. He would be like:

To Pit: "Your not the only one with some help in analyzing fighters. Except unlike your magical angel friend, I do my research all by myself. Like a true fighter! After all you must always know your enemy. Especially that blasted blue hedgehog!"

Maybe have the following incorporated:
Down special or down smash is him throwing a stream of energy spears (like sheik's needles or like ZSS and M2's d-smash)
have a chaos meter that charges similar to Little Mac's that when fully charged, he takes off his bracelts which limit him, and he gets faster and more agile until he loses the stock (so like a combo of KO Punch and Palutena's Lightweight)

Totally forgot about Lightning.
