Dark Pit would be awfully easy to do that with if they decided to get over the "let's always keep the same moveset" thing and just replaced it entirely. There were a lot of weapon classes that the Pit revamp and Ore Club item skipped and Palutena's moveset didn't cover them AT ALL. Put the Dark Pit Staff in the moveset, give him a Claw, a Cannon, a Palm. . .considering the Guidance with him, you could probably get away with a Lightning Chariot Final Smash to replace the Dark Pit Staff overclocking. . .at least until a hypothetical sequel where the plot moves on from that.

Lucina's a bit trickier, but if you Master Seal her up to Great Lord you could probably throw a spear in there without much issue.

Lucina can be pretty unique too, just give her her fighting style from Awakening and have her Final Smash be opening up a portal from the future sending out either Grima, or the Risen.

Dark Pit would be awfully easy to do that with if they decided to get over the "let's always keep the same moveset" thing and just replaced it entirely. Have her perform the Awakening so she has a temporary powered up state like in the Future Past DLC
Grima doesn't fit her Final Smash at all when her whole objective was to stop him.

If you mean Zero from Mega Man X, then I'd actually be pretty over the moon about that. I really like the character, plus it means we get Johnny Yong Bosch in Smash.

Otherwise I really don't care. I have enough characters I like in Smash already, and I never cared much for rules or widespread whatever to begin with. Friendly reminder that Rosalina was my most wanted for Smash 4 when, for SOME godforsaken reason, the Smash community thought she could only ever be a Peach clone, yet they would champion Daisy as having "SO MUCH UNIQUE POTENTIAL GAIZ".

Seriously, I honestly think the Smash community is one of the worst gaming communities ever on so many levels, so I can't care about what rules or assumptions they make.

Only really Dark Pit and Lucina bother me but like most have said, that can be fixed. Lucina needs to be changed to play to her strengths and Dark Pit needs change period. Wonder why they didn't give him some of Brawl Pit's moves. They gave Dr Mario his Melee stats. Heck, they gave him what his melee stats were supposed to be.

Seems like a "we're gonna go Dreamcast on this puppy, just you watch haters" thing to me.

Forgetting of course that part of the Dreamcast's posthumous popularity was how hackable it was. You could just burn CDs and play them with the right hack disk on hand.

I think for Lucina, dropping the "easier Marth" aspect of her is what needs to happen first and foremost. She can keep the 'no tipper' thing as you can adapt that into a differing playstyle easily and still make it stand out, but keeping her connected to Marth like that won't do her any favors in the future as she'll constantly be overshadowed by Marth. Breaking that tie would be the first step in the right direction for her.

As for other ways to make her different, as I said before, they could evolve the 'no tippers' aspect of her and add a number of different traits and attacks to make her enjoyable in her own right. The aforementioned option of adding a Lance would also be a great idea since you can use that to give her a potential projectile option, options for range outside of her sword, among other things.

The Dreamcast's popularity was more to do with the amount of beloved IPs it held that really didn't continue beyond the Dreamcast, and it having a lot of gems in general.

Not sure the Wii U will hit that status, though.

We also had the occasional Paper Mario and WAA supporter.

Rosalina supporters were uncommon but they existed.

Daisy supporters were extinct here for a long time.


But yeah, and Toad were the big guys here.

I'd prefer seeing new third parties rather than more characters from third parties already there. I know I said I wouldn't mind Tails or Dr.Eggman earlier, but if I had to choose between them or Rayman, I would choose Rayman.

To be fair, the Smash community doesn't really strike me as very different from any other community I've popped into, but then that probably speaks more to my tastes in games and the overlap between gaming communities than anything else.

Lots of common threads between Sonic and Pokemon. Fans of Sonic 3&K, Pokemon RBY, and Melee are practically the same darn thing. Every fandom shattered at every possible splitting point. Everyone hates everything they supposedly like.

I mean granted each gaming community has their own individual flavors of stupid and for Smash a lot of that is the speculation, but then I actually find the debate kind of interesting when it isn't too venomous so I guess maybe I have a higher tolerance for it. Listening to people rant about how every character I like sucks is pretty bad, but then if I go anywhere else it's just complaints about inanimate objects ruining everything or how Sonic should just die already to save him the misery of more games people don't like instead. :/

Rosalina had a moderate amount of support here, which is impressive considering most of her fanbase is either a casual gamer or fairly quiet and not vocal. Her support thread here was around the 50 page mark when she was revealed, IIRC.

My previous comment was less about Smashboards though, and more about the wider community.

I was a supporter of Rosalina, but I wasn't really outspoken of it because I didn't expect her. That's partially why I absolutely loved the Rosalina trailer.

I was a big supporter of Toad though, heck, I even had my current avi at the time drawn as a Toad because of how much I and several others supported him.

Okay, I'm calm now.
Lucina and Dark Pit are not worse versions of the originals. With Lucina there's the tipper argument, but that has been pretty much torn down.
With DP, it's just arrows and side b launch angles.
They're not worse.

But yes, I would easily accept it if sakurai gave those two different movesets, I'd still gladly play them. Just as long as they're not an alt skin or taken out of the next game.
