I don't know how to respond to this.
It has already replaced Pokemon as the yearly calendar in McDonald's for Japan.

I'm still uncertain about how successful Yokai Watch will be in America.

Sure, it may have caught on in Japan, but here, there's a definite stigma against perceived Poke-clones. And by that, I just mean the whole fact that no matter how different the gameplay is, as long as one of a large variety of monsters appears out of a small containment item, it'll be seen as a Pokemon clone. Digimon with the Digivices (despite them not actually coming out of them), Beyblade with the tops, Bakugan with the marbles, and so on. They failed to reach Pokemon-level success (particularly the latter two) likely based on that preconception: people may just see it as a fad and a retread.

Granted, while Yokai Watch isn't my cup of tea, I don't think of it this way, but I'm also not the average consumer.

I think a major problem with Yokai Watch is that it's really Japanese. I haven't played the game myself but my constant exposure to it via my students has shown me some of the Yokai are very based in Japanese culture. I know the 3Rd game takes place in the US, so it might be something they are addressing. I'm kind of curious to the localization process for the series and the game.

Pretty much this.

Although I'm impressed by how much NoA's pushing it and it makes me sad because all the responses on twitter about YK are "LOL THIS AINT SMASH" "LMAO DIRECT WHEN??" "?ZELDA??"

That's one way of looking at things, though I think Level-5 and Nintendo aren't poorly handling the marketing.

Maybe if Nintendo's name is attached to it somehow, it could help.

Though I still stand by the fact the game is centered around youkai, a concept more familiar for Japanese audiences, may have helped with its success in the franchise's home country. Basically what PushDustIn PushDustIn said in a post above. :4greninja:

WHAT, it'd have to be an empire to overthrow Pokemon, and it's shown that it is an empire.

Also, LIQUID12A LIQUID12A , I realized the flaws in my first product pitch and decided to do something else, what'd you think of the Wonderful 101 having Amiibo support to boost sales of the game? (Of course it'd be patched in)

If you want Link to talk in Project X Zone, just add this Link:

:troll:

Seriously though, as stated use navi, or even have Link be a joke of some sorts, where they question why he doesn't talk.

For those wondering about the Ubisoft partnership with Level-5, here's their first game.

I'm so excited for Yo Kai Watch, but as we've seen... it's really hard to get people to try new things.

I can indeed see the logic in making amiibo support to boost the sales of an individual game. I wouldn't know how much it would boost sales, though, but there would be more than a few willing customers.

So apparently this Friday will mark the longest time Smash 4 has gone without DLC characters.

Its so dry out here.
I think this image sums up our feelings in regards to the news drought:

But yeah, some info on Smash would be quite great. I just want Wolf back, damn it. :urg:

'Is Wolf a Shoo-In' by a long shot.

I'm sick of this overoptimism by select fans when there is a very real chance he could not make it.
True that, as much as I dislike to admit given he's the only character I really want by now...

And I've been more optimistic about him before... The lack of information is making me more skeptical. Oh well.

I only want Bandana Dee...

But obviously that's not going to happen anytime soon...

Oh yeah, I totally forgot about this thing.
I neither believe it, or don't believe it, I'm 100.00% neutral.
This is hilarious

On the whole "Nintendo characters in PXZ2" thing, I think what was already shown is what we're getting. Hell, I'm doubting we're getting more characters for it in general (which sucks because where the flying **** is Frank West?). The game is still CapcomxNamcoxSega. If anything, I can see Project X Zone 3 bringing Nintendo to the front lines, but for now they're just that: guest characters.

Though if anything, I could potentially see them saving one big surprise Nintendo character for a last-minute reveal, but that someone would need to be a huge deal.

Basically Link, since he fits the setting/human clause and is no stranger to crossovers. That'd be a last-minute hype-inducer that could boost sales, but I find more Nintendo characters, even Shulk, not likely at all as it is.
I don't think it'd be Link. I think we'd definitely see Mario. He's just as humanoid as Arthur.

...FRANK'S NOT CONFIRMED? Welp, I love you with all my heart, Phoenix, but...

Wow, I love that YW deal with Best Buy!

Feel free to agree or disagree whether or not YW can be extremely successful, but I know as a fan there are lots of very likable things with the franchise to keep it a very appealing IP for a long time. It'll probably do decently in the first week of sales, but it will grow over time when Level-5 does more marketing on Yo-Kai Watch and there's a good chance people will forget about their notion of comparing Pokemon to Yo-kai Watch. In fact, there's already tours going on soon in December (one was recently in Canada) to continue to promote the franchise.

I have confidence it'll be a decent success.

Have you guys seen this article, or am I a mere Slowpoke.
http://www.ign.com/articles/2015/10/30/nintendo-boss-says-mobile-and-nx-could-top-ds-and-wii-sales
Hopefully it does end up topping sales.
I'm not sure about this, but let's hope.

I think it has to do with that game's target audience. Say, Pikmin 3, that game is targeted toward the same demographic as Amiibo, KIDZ, so I think Amiibo for that game could help with sales... As long as they keep up with stock, demand, etc.

Im not liquid but it's really late to be making amiibo in order to sell a game no one bought. hell the amiibo themselves would probably sell poorly as well.

W102 maybe. . .
I would buy every one anyway

And keep in mind, I'm not against Wolf in the slightest. It's just the disturbingly high optimism that I'm opposed to.

Honestly as long as it
  • Doesn't use the "Wii" or "New" name in any shape or form
  • Doesn't have some weird gimmick like motion control or controller with a screen
It'll do just fine I think.
Yeah the Wii name only worked on the original thing. It didn't work with Wii U, and it's not going to work with NX.
That said, I think they should stick with NX for the name.

They actually made Arthur more realistic in the first one; instead of making him extremely short like in MvC3, they made him as tall as a normal human. Mario's more akin to Viewtiful Joe, who...isn't in Project X Zone. I think Mario's proportions would be deemed too unrealistic.

Still not as bad as when Wolf was higher rated then leaked characters.

I really hope we get either Wolf or K rool just so the fanbase doesn't explode in anger.
Sad thing is that there's gonna be a part of the fanbase angry if we get either of those anyway.

Gimmicks in Nintendo's history (consoles only):
NES - one of the first dedicated Gaming machines, saved state for games.
SNES - shoulder buttons!
N64 - a joystick, portable and console game interactions
Virtual Boy - vr
Gamecube - pressure sensitive buttons, later wireless controller can use a GBA as a controller
Wii - motion controller, tons of periphals --most notably balance board.
WII U - tablet like controller

Every console has a gimmick. Its what NintenDO in order to shake up their own games and the industry.

So, if Level-5 markets YKW very well, then I think it could be a success. Make it less foreign too.

I didn't read all of them, but did read most of them.

Best articles were Smash Bros. Roster Cuts, Is Wolf a Shoo-In? and Evaluating Plausibility of Third Party Characters: SEGA. Articles that investigate choices made during development always pique my interest, and I like the SEGA article because I pretty much agree with everything said in it. The belief that a second SEGA rep must come from a series other than Sonic has always irked me. Same goes for the Wolf article; it's an unpopular belief that I happen to share, and does a good job of explaining just why it's a very real possibility that more people should be considering.

Worst is Approach to Handling Rumors & Leaks, because it came across as patronizing and a bit inconsiderate. There's no excusing the harassment people breaking rumors have been on the receiving end of, but at the same time, it's hard to see things from their perspective when you're fortunate enough to be "in the know". You didn't have to wait for RogersBase and the other goons to drop hints and tease everyone about the news they know. You had the info. That article would've been a lot less of a drag to read if it were written by someone who actually could relate to the side left in the dark.

Yeah I think no matter what, "there will be salt" whenever and whoever they announce for Dlc. There's been way too much investment by some people in the ballot results.
