Classifying disliking any aspect of a character as "fine" is a slippery slope.

Let's say I dislike Daisy because she is a woman. Is that "fine"?

The line is going to have to be drawn somewhere over what's fine to dislike and what isn't... this is just a discussion about where that line is it seems. I think disliking a character based on voice is valid, but when it's just a few voice clips instead of like full dialogue it does seem a little picky.

I don't really wanna get involved in a serious discussion haha, so I'll just say this: obviously people need to be respectful, and someone saying "I don't like xx because they're female" is not respectful. But if I said "I don't like Toad, because most of his incarnations really bug me and his voice and hyperness get on my nerves" People have every right to disagree, but I'd find it odd if they were offended by that.

In regards to hating characters because of voices, Sonic's voice and dialogue in Colors made him unlikeable.
The only memorable line of his was "no copyright law in the universe" and that's only because it's a great forum weapon.

This is admittedly something I wasn't thinking about in my comments. I would take issue with somebody hating a character based on gender, race, sexuality, etc. because at that point you're not really hating the character as much as you're being hateful toward a real group through that character.

Jason was "Modern Sonic" to me. It started as early as Riders I think (or Shadow), but from Unleashed on forward, he was "perfect" in my opinion as today's Sonic, and I seriously loved him in Brawl and Unleashed, he was like "Sonic" but aging, aging alongside me, and I liked that.

Roger....I only "liked" him in Generations....cuz he wasn't making a damn joke every sec of screentime... Boom Sonic makes him fit more for that version of Sonic, so I can let it slide. But Unleashed Modern Sonic as Jason was the best Sonic of all time for me.

I don't really hate Roger, but I much have Jason and even Drummond over him.

Yeah, I know, that's why I take it as I leave it, I understand he's doing his job as SEGA sees fit, so I don't have any personal hate towards him for his voice direction.

My personal favorite of the bunch was Drummond, though I will admit that Griffin really did improve as the games went on and he adjusted to the role. Him in Unleashed was definitely his best in terms of portraying Sonic.

Personally I don't see how White's interpretation didn't fit the character, at least in terms of the cartoon format where Sonic is put into more cheesy and silly situations then his post-Adventure counterpart (ignoring maybe Boom). I could see why it's not preferred over the other VAs, but I don't see how it wasn't fitting in any aspect.

This. Griffith's Sonic is the one I liked the least. Not to say he's bad because he isn't; he's done a bunch of good stuff BUT, maybe it's just me thinking the voice annoys me. Drummond's was decent.

Roger's Sonic is the best one so far imo

Drummond is overrated (in my opinion), I'm sorry.
Maybe with more time this would have changed, but the only tone he EVER managed to convey properly was when Sonic was being hyperactive and cocky and such.
That's arguably the main personality type of Sonic, but the problem is Drummond came in at a time where they were toning Sonic down with Adventure 1/2's story, and I'm sorry he did AWFUL at every point that wasn't Sonic being his attitude filled self.
And then Heroes came and oh my god I hate that performance even more. It's contradictory since Sonic Heroes is super light hearted but the only tone he EVER speaks in in Heroes is annoying, cracklily high pitched screams. I desest it. I saw some video of him talking in his Sonic voice recently and it doesn't look like that will change anytime soon.

I really didn't like Jason for awhile, but after Unleashed and Black Knight I grew on him because he really started to understand how to convey ALL ranges of tone with Sonic very well. It took him an entire anime and 2 major games to get it down, but he did. ...Only for him to be REPLACED at the peak of his acting.

Roger... I really don't know how to feel about Roger. He's middle of the road for me. Sometimes he does fantastic and other times I just wonder if he forgot the tone of the script he was reading off. Sometimes it seems like he's trying, and other times it doesn't. Though considering SEGA pays him like bottom-wage VA Pay to do Sonic, I can understand why it doesn't seem like he's in it all the time.
He's doing alright in Boom so far.
