I spoke with Roger a bit. Inklings still seem plausible to me, but it maybe wasn't a good idea to tease people with it. The source didn't even specify Inklings explicitly, just claimed there would be a 'Smashing surprise' at the end of a Splatoon direct, coming this week. I mean, I probably would have came to the same conclusion, but it was far from a sure thing.

I'm glad that he got out in front of it. That was the right thing to do. I guess we'll just see how the rest of the week pans out, eh?

I suppose a Splatoon Mini-Direct being uploaded without being announced is possible. I can't see any Splatoon updating having enough content to hold a typical 30 or so minute direct.

I'd imagine that if it is true,, it would have to be a mini direct. I could see them speak about the weapon balancing that is being done, maybe showcase a new weapon releasing with the update, announce that in future, even more stages and weapons will be released, and if octolings are being made playable, then showcase them and end with this supposed smash trailer. Plus mini directs are just uploaded so it isn't out of the possibility that we could see one tonight before the update. After the update is possible to, but it make little sense to do so. Actually, if people don't expect it, it could be put online afterwards to highlight the update...

We can't really write the leak off for not being announced beforehand regardless of how many days are left until the 23rd.

If it is true, my only reason for it, would be lack of management/ preparations currently for an actual direct. So why they sort things out, they host this mini splatoon one to detail the update, then at the same time inklings are in smash and then Sakurai says that since they are done, why not throw them in there for release?

Basically, Nintendo makes the reveals and Sakurai reposts them. When Directs are coming, Nintendo posts them and if they contain info related to Smash, Sakurai RTs them.

Since Christmas isn't like "Presents of video games" for me anymore, and I consider myself too old for Halloween, Thanksgiving is really all I like anymore because it's a time I can be closer to my family, and the food my mother makes really makes me happy.
