Why wouldn't they? The man is a genius.
I'm pretty sure certain Smash fans don't trust him as much as Nintendo themselves do. That's for sure.

Otherwise, the fanbase wouldn't be beyond broken as it currently is (and has been for quite a while).

I mean honestly I really don't see why there's any complaints about fun costumes in a horror game. They're completely optional and as Frost pointed out a neat reference to other Nintendo and KT collaborations.

More often than not, it's an endgame unlock, which means that you'd have to have already endured the nightmares of the game to begin with, with no immersion-breaking costumes.
If you're replaying the game, you probably either don't want to be scared again or simply can't be because you know the game, and therefore you might want to have a bit of fun with it.

I mean, these costumes are in the same vein as the infinite Rocket Launcher in Resident Evil imo.
Does it break the game? Yes. Does it kill the tension? Definitely.
But it doesn't matter because you earned it anyways and you can still ignore it and play the game normally.

Im not even sure what the argument is here, but lets not forget that its impossible to satisfy the entirety of the fanbase. :4luigi:

See, this is where I disagree.

Sure, levity is not a bad thing. Hell, I could argue that in some cases it's vital. But you also still need a game. And while I don't know about you, but I don't play a horror game to get laughs.
There's having emersion in a game and I'm fine with that but having a little fun and having a small unserious moment for a small but wouldn't hurt.

It wouldn't damage the game much by having some fun every once in a while. Plus it's better considering modern day horror games always have overarching plot, mediocre to crap combat, full of cheap jump scares because 'eerie atmosphere doesn't exist anymore' and everything has to have some deep message like a Silent Hill game.

I don't mind the tropes of what makes a great horror game being there but if the devs can't even have a small fun for some fans to where it an be just for a small while then I don't want to play it.

I'm pretty sure certain Smash fans don't trust him as much as Nintendo themselves do. That's for sure.

That's because the fanbase believes that they an make a better Smash game from the ground up than he can but I haven't seen that yet.

Those guys at Nintendo probably know more than the fans themselves about Sakurai.

So we got more sources hinting at the NX being a combo home and handheld console.

I'm wondering, has something like this been done before? I know the Dreamcast had MVUs but I can't remember too many games taking advantage of it bar some tamagotchi-esque features.
The Wii U is still the closest example.

I think people are misinterpreting this, though. It's likely a scalable software platform, where games play with various results across a variety of hardware with different specs and form factors.

Think of something like the iPhone, iPad, and Apple TV.

Exactly my point.

Nintendo, the owner of the IPs in Smash (barring guests, obviously), thinks that what Sakurai does with them is in accordance to their standards.

Meanwhile, the fans nitpick anything and everything about the games.

I don't mean that Sakurai is perfect or anything, since I also have my own gripes with certain things in each of the Smash games, but goes to show how Nintendo's standards as owners of the IP(s) differ from the fans.

That's because the fanbase believes that they an make a better Smash game from the ground up than he can but I haven't seen that yet.

Can't argue with the fact Nintendo knows more about Sakurai than the fandom does. :p

As for the rest, it's subjective. There are people who really don't like Sakurai's game design philosophies.

Regardless, Sakurai does work hard in his games, which is something that each game does show, given the amount of content they have. At the very least, that has to be respected.

I'm actually okay with like alternative costumes being an optional feature in horror games, as long as it's not in my face (then again it wouldn't be if it's optional).

But I'm kinda confused to as to why it needs a trailer and why it's... fanservicy (which is really extra dumb). Dunno, the attempt at making the game more appealing in such a way just feels more pandering and cheap. I wish they've done something else that's relevant to the game itself to look more appealing to widen the audience... Not saying they shouldn't make alt costumes at all, I think silly extras are fine. But with the costumes (+ the fanservice) being used as marketing material kind of tells me they don't have a lot of faith in their own product. Not even the NA version is getting a retail release. That's bad.

Is anyone else here noticing the irony of this belief? This is a pretty common belief for Chibi now, and yet he's in a better situation than Isaac.... Who many consider to be one of the most plausible/likely DLC additions. The Chibi Robo has seen more entries (5 total) and continued support for a decade.

I'm not singling you out here, because I actually agree with you about Chibi. Without continued success and much of a future to look forward to, any characters chances for Smash drastically plummet (unless they fit the token 'surprise/retro' criteria). I'm just pointing out that Smash fans literally pick and choose which rules to follow.
People mostly see Isaac more likely because he's a lot more popular/requested, and now with the ballot that's more important than ever.

Also while Chibi-Robo has seen more consistent games none of them were really successful. At least Golden Sun was rather successful starting out with the first 2 games selling over 1 million copies.

Thing is people judge Smash Bros series from nostalgia and standards of the series instead of the game overall.

I will perfectly admit that Melee has the strongest gameplay feel of the series and no other game has came close to that scope and it's not from a competitive standpoint. But the amount of detail, design philosophy, the content and the overall fun the games brings with you by yourself or your friends is why the games are considered incredible and why Smash 4 is a great game.

It runs better than 75% of games released right now and before, it's full 1080p and 60fps without breaking itself and goes smoothly. The quality it brings to the table compared to most of the franchises shows that franchise gets stronger each time.

From a competitive standpoint, it's fine. It's not as deep or fast as Melee but it's fun to watch and much more balanced and interesting than Brawl was. But that's just 1/3 of the game.

The rest in great and is worth every penny.

just saw this. Difference is popularity and the fact that Isaac's games sold well. I remember reading that Golden Sun 1 outsold the entire Chibi Robo franchise the other day

You know what is a horror movie?

This and the second movie are actually horror films.
It was King Kong vs. Godzilla that started taking the franchise in a newer direction.

What's the plot about?
Lisa getting a bully teacher and Ned punching Homer. The teacher gave Lisa a B, then she fainted. She came back to her senses because of the smell of rotten meat. She fainted because 'eww meat'. Woke up at home under a coat. 'A fur coat?' faints. Marge reveals it was fake but felt like Lisa should sleep.
This looks bad ****ing ass and I want to see it now. Ghost is good but I miss Kamen Rider Feels already

If this is suppose to be a horror game, I think it just turned into a comedy themed game. How can I be scared having my character in bright outfits like that...lol

Immersion breaker.
I think you unlock those by completing the game....plus you could just not wear them lol

I blame the sole fact it got too hard on the political commentaries, less of social jokes but moreso references to modern day media celebrity jokes.

South Park did go through that but let's be honest, they will make fun of EVERYTHING & EVERYONE.

Hell, I believe that it's gotten worst than Family Guy which is the biggest mistake on television aside from Johnny Test

I'm aware that Isaac is more popular, I'm talking about their 'situation'. Their series (if Chibi is in fact dead), has fizzled out for the exact same reason; poor sales.

lol no. We may not have any data on Dark Dawn, but one game selling badly is different from a whole franchise selling badly. Not to mention there's the fact the first 2 GS games are on VC, something that never gets sales data. I wouldn't be surprised if GS is a bestseller on the eshop

I partially agree. I have ZERO issue when it comes to alt costumes, but even as an optional costume, being too pandering to fan service lovers is a bad move.

That said, of the three costumes I know of, each is a different level of fanservice:
  • Zelda: pure nintendo reference, breaks immersion
  • ZSS: nintendo reference and light fan service, breaks immersion
  • lingerie: straight fan service, but doesnt break immersion
The first two are just fine, but it's the last one that's questionable.

I know it's been established that Ashley's getting some special attention because of Halloween, but I don't think this has been linked yet:
http://www.nintendo.co.jp/nintendo_news/151014/ashuley/index.html

It's an official comic about Ashley for Halloween.
I know it's Halloween, but the special mention of Ashley right now just makes me happy.

Well, it did invent that trope with the second film and stuck with it from then on (aside from the first Heisei era film), so when people think of "giant monster vs. giant monster", Godzilla is generally the first thing that comes to mind.
And thanks.

I'd try to swallow him whole
WHOA now.

Especially when you think about why it's doing what it's doing.
Then it becomes a Horror Tragedy, with the last scene making you realize the monster is just as much a victim as the people.

I'm glad with Ashley getting attention. Not a fan of the 'spoopy little girl' thing but it works for Ashley oddly enough. Isn't she 16 in some localizations?
