One important thing about the leak, I don't recall him ever saying that the 3 characters were all ballot picks, he just said a character bundle releasing in October, not ballot characters so that means we could get the ballot pick as well. Also if I recall correctly a poll in a Nintendo Power magazine showed that Metal Mario was the most liked newcomer for Mario Kart 7.

Shovel Knight Helm would make people really upset, especially if they wanted him as a playable in the game :p

To be honest it could just be a word choice.

Though, if I had to guess the reason it's a "rumor" and not a "leak" is because the information was first told via a reliable source. If they had given more hard evidence (Images, video, documents, etc) in direct relation to the Shovel Knight in Smash rumor, Tamaki might have called it a "leak". They are a reliable source of information, which is the whole reason we are entertaining this rumor. If it was just a random 4chan rumor, I personally wouldn't give it the light of day.

In the end the "rumor" rests on a couple of noteworthy collaborating sources...and now some strange coincidences which point to the rumor being potentially true (Yacht Club Games no answer on the rumor, saying there could be multiple amiibo, etc). However, until we find hard evidence, it's best to call it a "rumor", as we are not 100% sure.

A lot of what we label as "leaks" should actually be labelled as "rumors" if we want to get into semantics.

I would like to point out that when Yacht Club said "multiple amiibo" they said the base for the Shovel Knight amiibo will be the standard for if they decide to do other Shovel Knight amiibo in the future. That doesn't help the case for Smash at all. It was specifically at the base and that it was the official Shovel Knight base that would be used in all future amiibo endeavors for them.

Honestly, I think Shovel Knight getting a Mii costume would be praised, since it would mean Shovel Knight wasn't completely ignored.

Well three Marios isn't unrealistic. A lot ask for Paper Mario with no issues there. While I'd feel Metal Mario is a "waste" of space on the roster, he would be very simple to make.....plus hes sorta already a veteran, and has his own stage and theme song. All the work is already done for him.

You forget Wolf and Squirtle will also be in if this is true, those 2 mainly Wolf can calm alot of people down, and not make them rage as much.

Exactly, which is why nobody in the world would pay for a character that you literally can recreate with a character and an item.
Especially for $5.

Speaking of which....Dark Pit doesn't have the newcomer banner on the website, even though Lucina does. Since Dark Pit is technically a veteran from Brawl, would Sakurai consider Metal Mario a veteran?

To be fair, the "leak" (is there another word I can use that doesn't make it sound legitimate?) stated that there would be details present on Metal Mario the character based on his appearance in the Mario series that wouldn't be present on Mario + Metal Box.

And that may or may not include non-aesthetic features such as Metal Mario's jerky, animatronic-like movements and the filtered voice complete with phrases Mario himself would never be seen saying such as "BRAVISSIMO!" and "MIA MOMMA!"

Speaking of Metal Mario as a character I found this:

B - Spike Ball: Metal Mario throws a Spiked fireball, which goes straight ahead like Luigi's fireball.

Side B - Metal Torpedo: Metal Mario goes into a crouching state then charges forward head first. Similar to Luigi Missile but does more hits.

Down B - Heavy Pressure: Metal Mario does a ground pound which creates a shockwave when it hits the ground.

Up B - Spin Jump: Metal Mario jumps into the air while spinning, dealing multiple hits.

Final Smash - Iron Maiden: Metal Mario touches a Rock Mushroom and transforms into a giant spiky boulder.

If Doc weren't in the game, I actually wouldn't mind Metal Mario, just as long as he gets his MK voice and cocky 'tude from there.

From the current amiibo lines so far, each one has a specific game that the line is associated to. So, if a Sonic amiibo line does happen it would most likely be a Mario & Sonic Rio 2016 amiibo line. It just seems like something Nintendo would do and plus there's characters on the Mario side that people may want, like Daisy.


Unless they announce a Sonic Boom 2 game, excluding Fire & Ice ...
