Totally. I think they only put the number they're at least planning on, but there's still a possibility they'll decide to add another character later on. I think that's why Sakurai specified we'd be getting "several" more because there's always a chance they could toss an extra character in that people will want.

If we say the two placeholder-stages belong to two of the three placeholder-characters, it seems likely that two of the characters are from series that aren't in Smash already, so that they can get a stage for their own series.
Therefore, the third character would be a character from a series that is already in smash.

Just thinking out loud.

I think they're going to give us the first character this month and hype us up for the other 2 (excluding Wolf) to be released in November/December.

Yeah, I have about a 20% feeling that they will at least acknowledge when it ends. As for whether or not an announcement of any new content comes after it, I find it less likely. I do still feel we could get a new character this month that was influenced by the ballot early on. But I don't think they will announce it on the 3rd.

I actually believe it will. It'll have up to 3 versions

Smash 4: Ultimate NX Edition with possibly all the stages on that one version

In my opinion, I think we're not getting them for a good while. I mean, look at how long it took Mewtwo to be developed.

I really don't think they started on Mewtwo until all versions of the Wii U games were released worldwide, the sometime after the holiday season, just started working on him along with Lucas at the time and then Roy and Ryu.

I doubt he'll do that considering he always tries to bring all characters from past games
He never includes a character thinking it's a "one time thing"

I know it seems blasphemous but after all the interviews I hear, he's really wanting this to be his last Smash game and I doubt he wants to stick with the series for this long and I believe some of reasoning for is that he really doesn't want the environment Smash 4 had during its development and part of me believes Iwata was the reason he comes back to Smash most cases considering he convinced Sakurai to come back for Smash 4

You sure you quoted the right post? Because I didn't say anything regarding when the ballot content is going to be released
Though I agree we won't see ballot content until the end of the year

I don't think we will get anything for one to three weeks. Some news in October is probably likely.

I don't see Sakurai just porting over the game to NX. Serialization is big a reason he left HAL and went independent. If he does, it'll be like Kirby Super Star and a game so full of content you might as well call it a new game and not a simple port.

Sakurai is going to come back for the next Smash. It's the way he can reach the most amount of customers, and has worldwide praise. He just got an award from METI minister for his work and Smash for Wii U AND 3DS won numerous awards.

He'll probably do a project in-between though.

I can't fathom how this game was mostly made by 1 person. Probably the most talented person on the face of the universe if I had to guess.
