Except that no one has really said "gimme mah Shovl Nite cause muh Shovel". People see that he has an arsenal of Relics at hand. Why not use those too?

I didnt know he had relics.......then again I havent played the game yet. I'll probably do it after I finish RoF.

That said, if it's part of his arsenel then he should probably use them in some form. Unfortunately, due to DLC not having custom moves (at least not yet.....and probably not ever) they'll have to be selective about which ones are used unless they use a random move system (for similar moves ala GaW or Pacman), or they pull a Megaman and stuff relics into his normals...

It effectively gives you an Ice Flower in the process of being able to slide.

Seriously, I obsess over anything related to penguins, and that suit is one of my favorites in Super Mario Bros.

Hammer Bros suit from SMB3. I can be happy if they add this. The frog suit would be fun as well. Though, I would imagine they might combine this with the penguin suit like they did with feather/leaf/propeller power-ups.

By function you mean gameplay style? I consider both of those when I look for uniqueness in a character, I just think Shovel Knight needs more of a mmph with his uniqueness for him to really appeal to me.

Are they really iconic weapons you make it out to be. As far as I'm concerned, he's widely known for his shovel as a weapon, and not much else with the other relics.


Point taken, you got me when it came to the mixing part. For the record I'm not trying to detract Shovel Knight, I just think people are over exaggerating the shovel's uniqueness and that creative liberties should be taken.

Relics are a big part of his gameplay. This video show someone cycling throw his relics to get an achievement. It's not a great view of all of them, but it gives you an idea.

I'm not a big fan of Shovel Knight as a character, but his move set potential is not a reason for that. There are tons of things he could do.

IDK anymore TBH, I can't really pinpoint why I continue to naturally find Shovel Knight not really distinct. I've seen all the weapons Shovel Knight can use in his, yet, I can't find myself wowed at overall.

Aren't these just optional weapons though, I think you could beat the whole game without the use of those weapons and some weapons aren't really central to Shovel Knight unless you want 100% complete the game.
