Isn't there supposed to be a Nintendo event going on today? Maybe that is why they gave us crap for updates. Maybe the trailer is coming at the event. Because I barely consider telling us HOW TO PLAY THE GAME, the list of musicians, and a look at the HUD as 'major update.'

Yea, there is supposed to be an event...

It should've started hours ago...
So either it's taking a really long time and no one is updating their sites, or...
Who knows what?

But I'm suspicious myself. I've been wondering since noon why there have been no updates anywhere. I'm guessing that everyone might be busy doing stuff still, or maybe everyone is "embargoed" until later?

I don't know, but I really would like to hear some news SOON.

I think the major update is meant to last for a while.. but I also see the new site as a major update. I like playing the waiting game, though. ;x

As far as the new website goes there were not any "major" updates since sakurai, will be updating it periodically anyway, this may be by the updates were not showing up on the dojo site because of "this" tournament

The countdown to the site was probably the biggest "**** you" to fans in video game history. Is the summit in japan or america?

Haha.. Only eight? I see no reason to be upset over this update then. Had it been like 50, I'd be pissed off at this being the only informatino given. This is fine, just be patient.

Yeah and from 12 to 5 this morning(I mean a.m. when everyone was waiting for it)there was so much lag that one of my posts went up 23 minutes later and all I said was 'tick...tock...tick...tock...'

I believe the summit is in Seattle.
And WOW, that's a really immature and uninformed statement to make.
Nintendo made no promises to anyone about announcing anything, the site DID get a major update, and before you go giving me that, "They KNEW we all be psychotic and have no life and put all of out hope into a freaking countdown!" let me say that there's been a lot worse that has been done to gamers.

Nintendo didn't do anything to anyone--psycho little fanatics with no life put way too much hope into it when nothing aside from a site update was promised. Get over yourself. We'll learn more in time, that's the whole point of the blog format.

Amen to that, brother!

I'm confident we'll get a surprise every now and then from it...Sakurai will be adding flash videos in the updates, but who knows when he'll throw one in there?

Rumor has it that Brawl is going to be playable at this summit, so expect screens, vids and lots of reaction on the major sites (IGN, Gamespot) later today. It's in Seattle on the west coast, so us in the east coast may need to wait...wait some more. :(

Well, I'm sure there'll be at least some news soon.
But if it's true there is a summit, which I for some reason haven't heard of, then I'm hoping for something just a little big as well.

WHoever said it earlier--"the fans overhyped it"--identified exactly what the problem was and always is: fans overhyping stuff.

Ah, but think about it this way: if they announced a new character, just ONE new character out of the supposed 50 that are in there, it would have blown all our minds, and that would hold us over for weeks.

Not some music file that we've already heard in Melee. (sorta)

Just hearing some music made me happy..
And my jaw dropped when I saw all of the composers.

I was not disappointed.. even though I was hoping to see a new trailer or revealed characters.
All of that could of been saved for the summit.

It's 5 in the morning in Japan now... Why would a press event start at 5 in the morning?

Don't expect anything for the next 12-18 hours regarding the press event. That's my guess

I perfectly agree DS.

The music made me happy to. Anyone who was seriously upset with the update is just greedy and childish.

Is there anything wrong with that...

I actually didn't have it to my expectations but it pleased me. Should have released earlier because I stayed up all that time.

With all of those composers, you know the music has to be **** good. Just looking at some of the games those guys worked on made me think "At least the music will be well done."

At any rate, if you look at one of the notes on the page, it said the site will be updated "on ever weekday"or something like tha. I'm not sure how much trust can go in on that, but if it's true, it's good news. Remember, we waited so long with nothing, at least we have something now.

Other way round. The press media need more time so they go first and then the online guys do. So you wanna be checking sites that also publish magazines.

The press is currently under embargo meaning you won't see any updates soon. Nothing to see here, go back to your normal routines.

No. The other guy was right. Today is for all media. Tomorrow is for the print media only to allow them to prepare for their e3 coverage.

From what I have read, only the stuff from the 2nd day will be under embargo. Whatever is said/shown today will be public information.

edit: nevermind. "What I read" isn't up to date :)

It says "WE'RE" as in them.
They even hint about checking back at IGN.
They might post some info tonight.
