Nintendo Launches Nintendo Music App

Nintendo_Music.jpg

Nintendo just launched a music app called Nintendo Music on October 30th, 2024. Similar to the older game libraries, this music app is tied to the Nintendo Switch Online service for those who have subscribed to it. So far, there are a good handful of games represented on this app. Older titles like Kirby’s Dream Land and Metroid Prime, along with newer games like The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Pokémon Scarlet & Violet. More games are to be represented in the future, such as Super Mario 64 and Wii Sports.

Author’s Note: What do you think of the recently launched music app? And what games are you hoping to see represented in the future? As always, let us know in the comments below! And of course, have a safe and happy Halloween!

Super funny to me that the Xenoblade Chronicles X remaster news page to take less than an hour to be released on here after its announcement while this one took like ten hours.

Unfortunately, the app is great. Silly that it's its own app and not Spotify, but the features like built-in looping, spoiler tags, NES and Famicom versions (if they end up doing it for more than just Metroid), and the fun character playlists are pretty cool. Credit composers specifically, and I'd have no complaints about the app's skeleton.

The meat is what we really have to watch. There are only a dozen games to choose from, and one of them is Nintendogs. I love Nintendogs but lol that's kinda pitiful. Gotta wait and see how fast and fully they upload new soundtracks to the app. If they come at a decent rate, this could be really good. I do have high hopes here, though. The Pokémon Scarlet/Violet soundtrack is here, and TPC usually handles music all on their own, so there's a chance for stuff like Smash to show up.

(Two versions of Metroid 1 + Metroid Prime from the constantly-ignored GameCube but no Dread lol, even Nintendo knows the soundtrack is that game's one weak point)

Dont intend to resub to nso any time soon either way but the fact between fire emblem & xenoblade blazing blade is the only ost for launch & nothing else is listed as "coming soon" is a huge mistep for me.

Spotify is notoriously bad at compensating anyone who publishes on the service, probably part of why Nintendo's going at it on their own integrated into NSO.

Yeah, the drip feed is what really worries me here, and they have even less reason to do so than their online stores since it's just music, not full games to (cheaply) generate hype.

Maybe they're just setting up the servers for the app so that they don't have to go all out at once (valid concern given the massive contraction in IT, including video games). But it makes them look bad either way.

IS the Zelda main theme on this app?
Because ive only seen OOT and BOTW and neither have it?
I wouldve probably added Links awekning (Switch or DX) into the mix!
