Got Animal Crossing since I was bored . . . played so little of it, that I can't have any thoughts on it yet. Can't stop cracking up at the game though, no thanks to all of those villager memes.

Hypothetical question: If Nintendo and Square Enix announced The World Ends With You 2, how would you guys react?

I would pre-order on the spot, then start playing the loving hell out of the soundtrack for weeks.

Just downloaded Zelda: Oracle of Ages and Zelda: Oracle of Seasons. Now I have all GBC Zeldas on my 3DS.

Yay, I finally made it to the post game in Etrian Odyssey IV, maybe I can finish this before Shin Megami Tensei IV. :3

I need to hurry up and beat Soul Hackers before SMT4. I was too dumb to figure out the dolphins lie part until I looked it up. .__.

That is such a good pun that I am surprised Square hasn't considered making a TWEWY game for Wii U.

I know. The Wii U even has the pad thing for it. Though that being said, I'd prefer a 3DS version if they made a sequel since well...I have a 3DS as opposed to a Wii U.

Tbh, after playing Link's Awakening DX on my 3DS, I realized that playing it was no where near as satisfying as playing it on my Gameboy Color.

I don't have a Wii U, but considering the upcoming titles I'll be buying one in Christmas.

Right now, I just bought kid icarus. I'm almost settled since all that's left for me tp buy and enjoy the rest of my year is Luigi's Mansion.

Though I had (and still have) a GBC, I never had any of the Zelda games released, so the VC is quite convenient for me to play certain titles I missed back then.

Regarding Project X Zone, would anyone recommend buying the retail version or download from the eShop?

If you want the LE, you can try finding a physical copy. I've heard physical copies are getting hard to find already though.
Well, I am in Europe and the game was released today, so I might be lucky to find a physical copy...

I'd still like to stick with physical copies as most games don't have online play, but if they did, I'd just download it.

What games are worth checking out for the 3DS? I have Luigi's Manson only.
Kid Icarus: Uprising, Fire Emblem: Awakening, Mario Kart 7...

You may like Project X Zone if you're a Sega/Capcom/Namco Bandai fan or like SRPGs overall.

eShop titles worthy of a mention: Pullblox (or Pushmo in the USA), Fallblox (or Crashmo in the USA), both Dillon games.

Just some suggestions, based on my experience or some trailers I saw.

If you've played 999 on the DS, then VLR is certainly worth checking out. Everyone keeps raving to me about how awesome Resident Evil: Revelations is, so I'd probably suggest that as well.

Mario 3D Land is something to look into as well. While I do love Galaxy much more, this really does feel like the transition of 2D Mario to 3D Mario people would have been expecting. If you're into RPGs, SMT4 coming out real soon, but it's fifty dollars.

Depends on what you like, but there's plenty of solid titles out there. Animal Crossing: New Leaf, Code of Princess, Etrian Odyssey IV, Fire Emblem: Awakening, Ocarina of Time, Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate, Professor Layton and the Miracle Mask, Soul Hackers, Devil Survivor Overclocked, Tales of the Abyss, Theatrhythm, Virtue's Last Reward. Project X Zone just came out, and it's looking pretty awesome as well.

There's tons of great stuff on the eShop, like old Nintendo classics. Pushmo is a great game, and should arguably be your first eShop purchase.

It sounds weird saying, but after looking through stuff from the old DS and PSP libraries, and things on the 3DS and PSV, I'm almost feeling like the handheld gaming market and the games in it is of better quality in a lot of ways than the console markets.

VVVVVV is a fantastic DL game. Definitely check it out. Also, keep an eye out for eShop sales. There have been a lot of neat deals, even retail games. Etrian Odyssey 4 was at $30 before and same goes for Soul Hackers.

Resident Evil Revelations is one the better 3DS games available and it's $20 on the eShop (you could get it $5 cheaper at retail maybe). And that Ghost Recon game that launched with the 3DS is a SRPG as well and heard it was real good. There are tons of great games to check out. Amazon also has some good deals on them often (when I casually browse around I see some good prices).

Kid Icarus Uprising was my personal GOTY last year and still sits as my top favorite 3DS game.

I recommend getting Virtue's Last Reward on the 3DS, but only after you've played 9 Hours 9 Persons 9 Doors. 999 was one of the most surprisingly good DS games back then, and VLR is just as good.

I just finished a Phoenix Wright game with a walkthrough. I'm so hyped for Dual Destinies.

I'd advise against Project X Zone unless you know a good chunk of the characters. I could only make it to Chapter 19/40 and I can honestly only see myself playing it again if I was either A) stuck in a 12 hour car drive or B) all of my other games have been stolen

I admit reviews on it have been mixed. Gametrailers hated it (but their review seemed to miss the point entirely, and calling constant streams of Cal of Duty games "Triple A Titles" is questionable to begin with), and Projared didn't like it in what's pretty much the only One Minute Review of his I've ever disagreed with. The main complaint seems to be that it's too goofy and fanservice-y to be taken seriously, but...I always thought the point of the game and the silliness and fanservice was intentional, much in the same way that the old Batman with the "POW!" punch bubbles and the Batman vs Joker surf-off was intentionally silly and ridiculous.

The story is pretty shallow, and if you don't know the characters, it can sometimes be hard to connect to. And the combat is waaaay too simple. I'd say the complaints are justified.

I admit, I don't know a good majority of the characters, but I'm somewhat following the story- even though it is a mess. I recognize the .hack characters, Tekken, Street Fighter, Resident Evil, Megaman, Tales of Vesperia, Space Channel 5, Valkrie Chronicles (not entirely though), DMC, Dark Stalkers and Dead Rising's Frank Westand some others are familiar...

I'm enjoying the game though. Would I recommend it as a better SRPG over Fire Emblem Awakening? No. But it is a neat crossover and overall nice game. The craziness and linking up attacks is fun.

Hope to finish the game soon before I delve into Shin Megami Tensei IV.

It isn't necessary to have played any of the previous Shin Megami Tensei games? I heard 4 was good for those new to the series. I haven't followed the games much but heard nothing but great things (especially the Persona games). I missed out on Devil Survivor Overclocked and I'd hope Atlus puts the game up on the eShop for a good price. I was planning on getting Soul Hackers but other games I wanted came out for me to invest in that.

So much Atlas. Bothers me the US division was at risk of going bust with their parent company filing for bankruptcy. I was absolutely concerned for them :(

It isn't necessary to play any of the previous SMT games if you're looking for story, but I'd usually recommend doing it in order to get a feel of the gameplay because it can sometimes be hard to jump into without experience.
The SMT games are really good RPGs, but they can also be very difficult too, so it isn't a game for a person who doesn't normally play the genre. That being said, SMT4 might be the series equivalent to FE: Awakening in that its inviting to new players, so we'll see.

Yeah, so was I. They're one of the better publishing companies out there right now.

SMTIV should be a fine starting point. There's a lot of additions that will help new players, like saving anywhere and being able to choose what skills your demons inherit during fusion. You will also gain EXP from successful negotiations with demons and you can continue after getting a game over, but it will cost you some hard earned cash.

The story is stand alone, there will be some call back and it is supposed to be very similar to the first two games thematically, but I doubt you will need any prior experience, most of the series works this way.

It looks like there will be a lot of things that will make the experience welcoming. Of course I haven't played it yet so I can't say how difficult it is, but it uses the press-turn battle system, so it shouldn't be too easy.

So...

http://club2.nintendo.com/30/

$30 eShop credit for anyone who registers Fire Emblem Awakening and Shin Megami Tensei IV on club Nintendo by 8/31.

Looks like Nintendo really wants to push SMT x FE, this is amazing.
I was cautious about this until they finally gave out all the details, but my worries are gone. Thank you Nintendo for not excluding FE:A bundle owners.

What games are worth checking out for the 3DS? I have Luigi's Manson only.
Kid Icarus Uprising -- On rails and land portions, very funny and cute, if you enjoy Sakurai's games then you'll love this
Animal Crossing New Leaf -- Comfy times ahead
Etrian Odyssey IV -- a retro style RPG. Not very grindy, high level of customization, almost non-existent story so no prior experience is really required
Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D (if you never played Wii one) -- ****ing hard platformer that is 100% better than its Wii version imo
Fire Emblem Awakening -- waifus, strategy, a lot of focus on relationships and you can play it casually or hardcore
Super Mario 3D Land -- another Mario game, it almost feels like it takes 3D Mario elements and mixes them with sidescrolling Mario. Really good use of 3D.

eshop:

Pushmo, Crashmo -- puzzle games that use 3D. Your goal is to reach the top of structures by pulling stuff and crashing stuff.
Mighty Switch Force 1 and 2 -- puzzle platforming with speedrunning elements. first one has you use a gun, second one has you use a firehose. I'd consider 2 an expansion to 1 so I'd only purchase if you really enjoyed it and want more. And also kickass music, worth checking out by itself.
Mutant Mudds -- collectathon with platforming

I'd skip out on Dillon games unless you actually like tower defense. It didn't do anything for me.

Skip out on dillion 1 if you are left handed. Not sure if they fixed the controls for the sequel.

Some nice gems on the eShop that people should check out: Liberation Maiden, Crimson Shroud, and The Denpa Men 1 & 2.

Well, I already had FEA registered. STIV soon. Good deal for me. Wonder if I should save for Pokemon X or just blow it on Mario and Luigi Dream Team.
