The fact that they even gave him a splash art at all is highly suspect, but him being separate from ZIM again, and in place of another character again?
Like it'd be very weird if GIR were just a small part of ZIM's kit and yet he's getting this much face time on his own.

There's 2 weird things that stick out to me:
1) The absence of Nigel
2) Gir being so far away from Zim

The loadup for the PS4 version, obviously. When a game boots up on the console, there's a splash screen that covers everything.

I keep thinking feet character looks like Rocko's shoes, and the detail is actually wireframe from an unfinished model.

I think someone on the Gamemill Twitter account did? Did we ever get any actual confirmation that was real?
For all we know, the social media person didn't get the right info, and the only reason GIR didn't get a full reveal in that first trailer is because he was still so early in development? The fact they aren't telling us anything about ZIM's moveset is just making this worse.

Chrom was a low effort echo fighter though and was blatantly last second. GIR doesn't make sense, the leak is fake or GIR has a special mechanic or something.

A better example would be Tron Bonne and Servbot in Marvel vs. Capcom 2. Chrom is mostly reusing assets while Tron and Servbot both have completely unique movesets that made their debut in 2 albeit with the same supers (Tron has the Servbot helping her perform Lunch Rush and King Servbot while the solo Servbot does it on his own.)

Yeah the logic doesn't work. It hinges way too much on dev incompetence. Like... them not knowing GIR was actually playable when he got shot down and the fact he's magically a post launch addition that they oh so conveniently forgot to remove.

Yeah, I don't buy this. If Rep being mistaken about the Garfleak being fake is "ridiculous," this "GIR is actually playable despite every indication to the contrary" theory is BEYOND ridiculous.

I don't think promotional art is a really good case for GIR being in. Chances are he's the only assist character in the game for someone who's playable and the devs like Invader Zim.

Same thing for Mr. Saturn showing up often in official Smash promotion/artwork

You know what I find strange. 17 out of the 20 characters have been revealed. It is all but confirmed that the last 3 are Avatar characters but why are they the last to be revealed?

It makes me wonder. Is there some kind of special Avatar related event coming between now and October 5th?

That wasn't in game footage though and we specifically see Zim commanding GIR in the first trailer. If it was supposed to be a quirky "playable characters do things together" then Spongebob and Patrick would've done something similar.

...Yeah, this still doesn't prove anything. It's just a piece of artwork (a really damn cool piece of artwork), and as Fields said, the only shots we see of GIR are in bits that aren't actual gameplay. Heck, the first time we see him involves Zim yelling and pointing, with GIR going out afterwards; that possibly alludes to one of Zim's specials (maybe his Down Special) involving him sending GIR out, and GIR in turn doing something.

That's pretty much what I'm going with; the three Avatar characters that make up the remainder of the base roster are going to be revealed during the September Direct (whenever it happens).

I'm thinking that Zim could be the character with the absurdly bonkers gimmick that the devs alluded to a while back. As in, Zim would send out GIR for one of his specials, which the player can actually control to a degree like an on-field .

Welp, there ya go. That's a weird amount of facetime for what basically amounts to a quick cameo appearance. The first trailer and splash art really does make him look playable.
Aw well. Back to crusading for solo Beavers. There any Angry Beavers emotes in the Discord, by the way?

Only one for each Beaver.

Not as much as I was hoping for, but them having their own each is a promising start!

I've been hesitant to join the server and share the movesets there since I don't want to risk getting the devs in trouble if there's any actual overlap in the case we do get a playable Beaver and they get accused of taking unsolicited material or something like that. (That and I don't want to put down my phone number.)

That being said, been considering drawing up taunts, win poses and lose poses. Just need to find the time to do so.

Go figure.

Note that I edited that post, I only searched for "norb" and "dag" in the emotes box AND THEN remembered to search for "beav" as well.
