Okay Sakurai.Sakurai posted another video:
I definitely agree that I’d love to see more NES and SNES era representation with the third parties in Smash. Even if my top picks don’t exactly match, these are still all solid choices.Okay Sakurai.
But, counterpoint: Ryu Hayabusa, Bill Rizer, Arthur and Kunio for Smash!

I'm assuming the point of the vid is that not everybody's gonna enjoy the same things as you...Okay Sakurai.

I’d be down for that. Unfortunately, the only Konami arcade games I have a ton of experience with are from licensed properties like TMNT and the Simpsons. Pretty much every TMNT game I’ve played has an awesome soundtrack but I’m not really expecting any of that in Smash any time soon. I’d be interested in hearing music from their original IP in Smash if it’s anywhere near the same quality. I love Contra too but I’m holding out hope that Bill/Lance make it in so that’s a whole different story.I'm kind of more for retro myself.
Speaking of retro, since there was a Namco Arcade 80s Retro Medley theme (well, two of them), I was thinking, what if there was a Konami Arcade 80s Retro Medley theme? Because games like Gradius, Vulcan Venture, Life Force, Ajax (Typhoon), and Thunder Cross have some pretty cool themes.
Besides those, I can also think of Contra, Mr. Goemon, Salamander, Twinbee, Road Fighter, Frogger, Mega Zone, Circus Charlie and Track & Field that could go together. Some of the more musically updated games like Parodius, Sunset Riders, Mystic Warriors, Vendetta, etc, could go together.I'm kind of more for retro myself.

I think you'll love the tracks from their original IPs. I sometimes get addicted to them (especially the Skywalker theme from Thunder Cross).I’d be down for that. I mean, if there was any character I think would go with Konami Arcade Retro Medleys' like how the Namco Medleys go with Pac-Man, it would be Frogger. While Bill and Lance are also notable Arcade stars, Contra does have a lot of music like Castlevania and Metal Gear. Also, I think a Konami Arcade 80s Retro Medley theme would make a lot of sense to come with Bill and Lance if they were to make it into Smash.
Did Namco made licensed games before the Bandai / Banpresto merge?I’d be down for that. They did a Nadia game on the Sega Mega Drive/Genesis and they did 4 Yu Yu Hakusho games on the Super Nintendo. Those are the ones that they developed and published.Did Namco made licensed games before the Bandai / Banpresto merger?
You meant Berenstein. They did a Nadia game on the Sega Mega Drive/Genesis and they did 4 Yu Yu Hakusho games on the Super Nintendo. Those are the ones that they developed and published.
Ones they didn't develop, but published include the Japanese Star Wars game, Spawn Armageddon, a Hello Kitty game on the Gamecube, an Atomic Betty game on GBA, a Berenstain Bears game on GBA and a Curious George game in 2006.
...Namco published a Berenstain Bears game on GBA?!a Berenstain Bears game on GBA
this was one of my first games i played in my life...Namco published a Berenstain Bears game on GBA?!
* one Google search later *
...Huh. Apparently they did.
Where I'm from, it's not Berenstein OR Berenstain... it's Bloodstain. You meant Berenstein.
I know this is an AVGN joke, but i really will Miriam and Zangetsu were Mii Costumes.Where I'm from, it's not Berenstein OR Berenstain... it's Bloodstain.
(Shoutout to anybody who gets that reference).
Yeah but I don't expect Frogger to be the next Konami character anytime soon. Plus, seeing as how a lot of Konami arcade games were shooters during that time, many themes from those games, such as the ones I mentioned, would actually blend pretty well with a Contra stage.I mean, if there was any character I think would go with Konami Arcade Retro Medleys' like how the Namco Medleys go with Pac-Man, it would be Frogger. Even better: TwinBee (that one has arms and legs)okay, hear me out: Vic Viper
The ship?okay, hear me out: Vic Viper
yeah. the ship. from GradiusThe ship?
Being that it's a ship, I find that very doubtful.yeah. the ship. from Gradius
I propose that he comes with a moai Mii hat
okay fine Twinbee timeBeing that it's a ship, I find that very doubtful.
But for me, Bill and Lance would be my next pick for Konami characters.
Fixed. You pick your poison regardless.Watch next konami rep be from Otomedius
Twinbee does have feet and hands. Not to mention Capsule J from Kirby Super Star might have been a reference to Twinbee before we got J's redesign in the form of Capsule J2(and I would not be surprised given Sakurai's love for space shooters). If we want to look at Twinbee as a fighter without looking awkward, Capsule J design-wise is a good start to reference.Maybe some Twinbee music but a character? Umm...
How Twinbee would be as a fighter is not a problem. After all, it was in Dream Mix TV World Fighters.Twinbee does have feet and hands. I’ll come back later. Is this a bad time to ask if there are any fish characters you want in smash? Non anthropomorphic
Do non-anthropomorphic Pokemon count? Is this a bad time to ask if there are any fish characters you want in smash? Non anthropomorphic
Well I was inclined to let it go as I anticipated to get “echo the dolphin” a lot. It was Pokémon that was making think about thisDo non-anthropomorphic Pokemon count?Because Dracovish is the only acceptable answer.
And I'm assuming aquatic mammals don't count, right? Cause Palafin legitimately looks interesting for a character choice.
Freddi the Fish.Is this a bad time to ask if there are any fish characters you want in smash? Non anthropomorphic
I think Garchomp counts as a fish since it’s a shark. It would be a pretty cool Smash character and the most realistic choice for a fish I can think of. Not sure if it counts as anthropomorphic or not.Is this a bad time to ask if there are any fish characters you want in smash? Non anthropomorphic
Maybe a character from Myst, which is in the thumbnail of that video, could work for Smash. I made a moveset for one of the characters once.Sakurai posted another video:
