I dont really like TP Zelda shes mostly fine in Smash but pretty Edgy in the actual Game!
Again im not the biggest Twilight Princess Fan it just tried to dark to please the "ZeLdA iS sO dArK CrOwD!"
Zeldas Darkness Works Best if its subtle like in Links Awekening, OOT or heck MM Might not be subtle but it still Pulls it of Greatly!
I can understand that. My personal preference is that I’ve always liked the darker, stylistic characters the most. I’m a huge fan of most of Blizzard’s character designs as well as many in LoL, Soul Reaver, and Darksiders. TP Zelda in Smash was right up my alley. I feel like Smash has plenty of bright, cheery characters so I’d welcome anyone who strays from that. Not that Ultimate Zelda is bad by any means.

I mean to me it went Tetra in WW to Princess Zelda in TP. The wolf singing thing was annoying lol but a musical mechanism was expected. Pretty good fishing game. Anyway very different than WW.

Everything about WW was almost Disney magical with vibrant colors and quirky situations ( "reoow" ) but it's also "dark" at times and very bold during the final moments of the game. It definitely has a lot of reasons going for it in terms of "best" Zelda game.

On the other hand TP is immediately the opposite graphically which essentially makes it look as realistic as the gc could which was a lot .. so it looks great if .. redoing OoT with the gc power is what the devs wanted to do... the artists seem to have gotten inspiration from other "dark" games on the gc like re4, especially with color blending and foreground background gimmicks.

As for which Zelda tho I dunno I liked her character in both games but it's Ganondorf I enjoy watching his evolution as a character.

And hey: maybe the Mario + Rabbids DLC will help introduce him to a new audience. Maybe even a... Japanese audience?

Sorry, I'm just trying to be hopeful.
Considering Japanese popularity is arguably his only hurdle left hopefully this will help with that!

Or the smash team just goes "ya know, this guy is a big request in the west, the Japanese players can survive one western pick". Whichever one happens first

I do agree with this sentiment somewhat but to play devil's advocate here I think we can look back on those top 10 regional polls that were conducted (before?) during Ultimate's speculation cycle as fairly indicative of a decent amount of what we got. I'm pretty certain that it was Sephiroth's most prominent presence in the Smash spec scene before his actual reveal. The one with Sora overperforming everyone in like every region.

I'm not gonna get into any heated arguments over these polls though or anything. That's not just cause my boy Crash Bandicoot is killing it either... I love that endearing little dumbass so much haha.
Keep in mind, the top ten regional polls that were conducted was just for fun. It was based on Twitter comments regarding the Fighter Pass 2 announcement. Nothing too major.

Also, Lloyd is not #1 in Japan, and Byleth wasn't #5. The Tales and Three Houses characters requested have been piled up to one character each. That means Sora was #1.

We did get Byleth, Steve, Sephiroth, and Sora, yes, but that poll means null

So, Gen 9 Pokemon are a thing. Currently picking the ones that are gonna show up on the next SCCC. Don't worry, that will not be going live until at least a week after the new games come out, so I will not be spoiling it for any of you that do not want to be spoiled by the leaks.

Speaking of leaks...
On the poll right now, I for sure am including all three final starters, Cyclizer, and Baxcalibur. Thinking I will have Armarouge, Ceruledge, and maybe one or two others on there as well. I also debated putting both the box legendaries on there as well. Feedback on these would be appreciated. Do keep it in spoiler tags though!

Somebody suggested Paradox Jigglypuff (can't remember their other name) as an Echo Fighter. Maybe acknowledge that?

I was listening to the Namco Arcade 80s Retro Medley (1 is my favorite) and I was thinking, what if there was a Konami Arcade 80s Retro Medley? That would be cool if that came with Bill and Lance if they make it into Smash.

Imagine a mix of themes from games like Gradius, Life Force (Salamander), Ajax (Typhoon), Thunder Cross, and TwinBee? I'd love to have some more retro themes from other companies in Smash. And I think that Contra is the best series that can bring some Konami retro from the arcade era in the 80s.

I would say let people vote for the Pokemon they actually want/think are likely rather than restrict it to a handful deemed likely

so add an “other” option

I think Aoko Aozaki from the critically acclaimed visual novel Witch on the Holy Night which will be released next month with English, Japanese, and Traditional / Simplified Chinese language options on Nintendo Switch and available for preorders as of the writing of this post should become a playable fighter in the next Smash game.

I wonder just how mad Nintendo is over this person streaming a playthrough of the new Pokemon game before it's official launch date, and the changes they'll try to implement.
you do gotta wonder why some people are so determined to spoil everything for everyone. and i say that as someone with a terrible record for spoilers

Does seem like Nintendo and its subsidiaries have been getting a lot more leaky these days. Between the scarlet and violet leaks, the full plot and DLC leak that happened for XC3 a whole month ahead of release and the big music leak for the mario kart 8 dlc, I am inclined to believe that they are having more trouble than usual. As for the reason, I have no idea why.

Even that won't work. By sheer logistics the physical game has to be in the stockroom ready to fill shelves and all it takes is one person to grab a copy early.

I sense either all games will go digital (not sure how Xbox digital only is doing) or will contain a digital lock to prevent physical copies of games from being playable until patched on the official release date. That won't stop hackers but it's worth their investment to try it out. Then again this alienates users without internet though they may be a necessary casualty and probably not a large margin of consumers.

15 minutes of fame is still a big deal to many people and so unscrupulous individuals will take advantage of a situation and flip it for likes.

Man, I would hate to lose physical releases, especially over something as silly as leaks...

Me too. I've considered digital platform gaming but I don't know how well they're doing because I have no real interest in those platforms.

Some people have nothing better to do with their lives, so they just focus on making other's lives miserable. A sad existence, to be honest.

I imagine some people are just desperate to know already what is new and what is missing to start making theorycrafting.

I don't mind teasers but live streaming the game before anyone else can play is a new low.
Oh yeah, that is true, I'm very cool with leaks and datamines because of the utiliies it could have in order to get the new information into the internet, which can be important with getting people to understand how the heck the new Pokémon work.

But why live streaming early? That is so absurd. Isn't just rude, is asking to be nuked by the Nintendo ninjas.

I thought it was pretty funny when dataminers were able to access and livestream gameplay of Roy and Ryu before they were even officially revealed.

Of course by then those two had been known for months, so it's not like it was a surprise to people.

The only surprise was that Roy's design had elements of his Mercenary Art from Awakening. Aspects of that design stuck with Roy after that and Wii U/3DS was the first time that trend was shown.

Tbh, if that was his design in a hypothetical FE6 remake, I wouldn't complain.

I think I'm most confused by her potentially trying to buy bags of milk; apparently this surreal horror game is set either in elementary school or Canada.

My eyes can't see each of the 4 "screens" or whatever in detail enough to gain much understanding, but just the overall larger presentation is certainly interesting. Maybe I'll rewatch this on the TV.

Umm... What?
Looked it up, they're Switch ports of a short visual novel about depression and its sequel. Apparently they're both pretty good.

Semi-related as they're the ones publishing the Switch port: who exactly is Forever Entertainment? I keep seeing them working on remakes of retro games (Panzer Dragoon, House of the Dead, Front Mission), and I know Nintendo bought a stake in the company, but I can't find much info on the company itself...

They're a Polish company that primarily specializes in (frankly, not spectacular) HD remakes of old titles. Nintendo provided them financial backing to bring games to the Switch (which is different than actually buying a stake in the company), though which games these are, whether remakes or new titles, whether third-party or first, hasn't yet been revealed.

My suspicion is it's just going to be for continued releases of older third-party stuff. To that end it's a shame Nintendo didn't partner with Nightdive instead, who sort of does what Forever does, except better. Though they also mostly just focus on FPS games, while Forever does... whatever.

When it comes to leaks, I think the big picture matters a lot. Sometimes they can ruin the surprise of a future announcement, or lead to fans jumping to the wrong conclusions about something when they hear it outside of context. Other times they let players find out about stuff that the devs probably should've brought up before the game's launch but didn't.

For example, a lot of Pokémon fans wait to pick their starter for each new generation until they know what all of their fully evolved forms are like. The recent leaks for Scarlet & Violet let them make informed decisions they wouldn't have been able to otherwise.

This is still Smash-related because I get the feeling one of them in particular is going to have a lot of support if Smash 6 happens before Gen 9 is over with...

New Pokemon games come out at a much faster rate than Smash games, would not be surprised at all if this game is leapfrogged in the playable Mon department like Unova was. (Zoroark is a lock, guys. Trust me.)
Though consider the last Smash game came out four years ago, the base roster to Smash games is usually decided 2/3 years before they actually release, Gen 8 was already skipped, and Gen 10 probably won't be out until 2025.

This one could go either way. If the next Smash starts development this year or next year, it's probably going to be Gen 9. 2024 on, Gen 10. But also, if the next Smash doesn't start development until 2024, it won't be out until at least 2026, if not 2027, which would be quite the gap between titles.
