That's not how completionism, bordering on OCD, works.

It's gotta be everyone! Even the dog**** ones!
So your rampant drive for completionism hinges on the decisions of Japanese game developers and several other video game studios across the globe, none of which you have any control over. You just gotta hope they do the thing they’ve admitted was a miracle and may not happen again forever and ever.

As someone with different but no less deranged afflictions, you have my sympathy.

You know who would make an interesting visual novel rep? Saber (Artoria Pendragon) from Fate/stay night.

I'd still wanna see someone like Phoenix Wright or even Monokuma get in first, but she'd be pretty cool.
Saber is an interesting case, she's not a commonly speculated character for Smash Bros but I could absolutely see her getting in. Besides the fact that the VN got a Switch port last year, Fate is still incredibly popular in Japan and Saber getting in Smash would probably be a massive deal over there.

I personally wouldn't mind Saber getting in, tbh. A swordfighter with an invisible sword sounds kinda fun. The music she'd come with would be amazing, too. In particular, I'd really like to hear a Smash version of EMIYA.

I gave up on OCD/completionism after my hard drive with 800 GB of absolutely legally detained music failed.
Still, as a Smash fan since the first game, there's not many moments I can remember when the fanbase at large was as off the charts happy and hyped as the Everyone is Here trailer. It's clearly something that fans want.
Plus, I feel like Smash as a platform is a natural progression for the series, and EiH2 is almost a given if they pursue that path.

One of EiH's most unspoken consequences is how a lot of fans request it to happen in other series (or at least this is something that I personally see a lot).
Like it's just something the devs can just do easily. The notion of it feels uninspired at this point.

"Guys.... what if... the next Mario Kart game........ was called Mario Kart ULTIMATE."
"How original."
"And it has uhh, EVERY character and track!"
"Daring today, aren't we?"

2010-2016 were progressively complete disaster years for Nintendo and the utilization of their IP, which happens to coincide with the "dedicated" Smash fanbase growing. Maybe if we had games like Famicom Detective Club in that era the groundswell of support would last a bit longer, I thought it was cool how Elma for example never stopped being requested.

Saber would be a funny pick cause she and like, Carmen Sandiego are in a similar boat where they're both technically videogame characters but are absolutely not associated as such, the opposite of someone like Geralt. I think she'd be a fun pick, she's relatively iconic and you could do a lot with her moveset that would be an interesting variation on the traditional swordsmen Smash has, I imagine her being most similar to Cloud. Personally if you were doing a Nasu character I would probably prefer Arcueid.

Saber is one of my most wanted, I think she would be fun as hell and she is incredibly iconic not only in anime circles but gaming circles as well, She would be perfect.

I think Fate nowadays is actually more known for Fate/Grand Order, which is a behemoth of a Mobile Game that consistently is at the top of the highest grossing mobile games of all time charts and obviously Saber would be the pick.

But I think because of this association with Grand Order, Mash Kyrielight is kind of a sleeper pick.

She is the main non-player character in Grand Order, thus making her already more notable than many other Fate servants, and a shield based character is something we don't have in Smash yet.

I think the main reason Fate isn't usually associated with video games is that even as a visual novel it was PC only for years and it has no traditional gameplay like something like Ace Attorney or Danganronpa, it's purely reading and occassionaly making choices for branching paths, so it has much more overlap with like anime fans and manga readers than traditional videogame fans. Even the PS2 port only happened after the anime already aired which is how most people would know Saber.

That said Fate Grand Order is like one of the highest grossing games ever and is what Nintendo was trying to replicate the success of with Fire Emblem Heroes lol, so it's kind of flipped around in recent years.

I can see that. And we have one other VN rep from Nintendo themselves. Ayumi Tachibana from Famicom Detective Club.

FGO is, but FGO certainly wasn't the first popular Gacha game. Before Fate Grand Order, there was Puzzle and Dragons, which Nintendo did a collab with the 3DS game that included Super Mario characters, and Granblue Fantasy(which is infamous for the moment when someone payed past 1000 dollars or even more to try to get one character and failed, which would result in the Pity system being made and implemented). And Dragon Ball Z's Dokkan Battle would also release before Grand Order.
Sure, Grand Order is absolutely popular now compared to most other titles mainly for it's story and characters(which has issues with tropes like most games, but legitimately has some great characters when they put their effort in), but I wouldn't say it was the main inspiration for Fire Emblem Heroes, especially when early Grand Order is practically considered the equivalent of a campfire horror story that we in the West were really lucky things changed in F/GO for the better before it came over to the West.

There's plenty of popular gacha out there that predate Fate, I'm an old old Puzzle and Dragons fan lol, and even now Monster Strike as of last reported has grossed more total money than Grand Order. I would just say that regardless it's certainly one of the primary inspirations for Fire Emblem Heroes alongside those other games. They all share mechanics and largely aren't dissimilar, but I would say the way FGO handles its story integration is pretty similar to FEH, alongside your Granblues and Kantai Collections.

Think we'll hear any news this week?
If the recent rumor is true and it actually gets shown on the 17th, that'd be so funny.

DKCRHD comes out and then like same day: "Oh btw, tune in tomorrow for a presentation showcasing the successor to Nintendo Switch!"

I assume the reveal will be the last week of this month, it's before the investors meeting but after the schedule is cleared out and news isn't taken up by anything in particular.
This has been my sense, with a slight chance of maybe something a week after that. Basically, DKCR gets its own week and with the XBX port coming in March, February becomes the time for Switch 2 reveal and/or Nintendo Direct.

Meanwhile, Metroid Prime 4 Beyond:
My (totally without merit) prediction is a final (mini?) Switch 1 focused direct next month which reveals two important dates: the next console reveal showcase (also in February) and the release date for MP4... coming in April with the Switch 2 releasing in June.

Again, I base this on nothing, but it's what I'm feeling.

This is kind of what I'm feeling too.

I know I mentioned that recent rumor in jest, but I don't really know if I believe that yet even if they do have a track record because they said the Switch 2's showcase would be the 17th and then it would release on like March 7th, and I don't know that I believe Nintendo would only market their BRAND NEW CONSOLE for a month and a half.

Like even the Wii U was first showcased at E3 2011 and then released in November 2012. A month and a half is like no time at all to market a new CONSOLE.

One of the best Shadow movesets I seen. Specially like how he included chaos blast and chaos control as part of his normal moveset instead of just a final smash or something. Definitely feels like if shadow was a dlc character with a gimmick and everything would probably be like

Neither is that. If the next game makes cuts, but you unlock and buy all the characters, you will have the complete game, at least in terms of the roster.

Completionism isn't all content from every iteration of the series at all once. Even Ultimate doesn't have all content from every game.

No Smash game has returned all content. Ever.

Hell, even when Pokemon returns all the Monsters... it didn't return everything else. Things were changed up(HM's, TM's, moves in general, items removed, etc). It doesn't go by sequel. A completed game just means everything is the game is done and gotten, whether it's DLC or not. Anything cut or didn't make it in as planned DLC isn't "missing" overall. It's just not part of the actual game in the end. It's more like "I wish they returned it". Which is cool and all, but it has nothing to do with a game being complete anyway.

The suckiest part is when a game doesn't have what was advertised, whether it's via a game manual or not. It's not really missing, as it couldn't be implemented, and thus, isn't part of the complete game, but it's no less annoying.

The fact that Everyone is Here happened once is pretty spectacular and it is a great ideal to shoot for, but it's not tenable at 89 characters. That's kind of the beginning and end of it. There's just not enough time in 2.5 to 3.5 years to do something at that scale unless you do what Tobal #2 did and just make everyone a clone.

That being said, Ultimate's blueprint of about 55 unique characters returning from the previous game and about 13 characters being developed from scratch does feel like a solid, replicable standard for the series going forward.

Yeah, that sounds reasonable. Ideally, I’d like a larger roster than that but a 68 character base roster is something I could live with. I’d just hope I could keep my favorites around like Sephiroth and K. Rool and we get some newcomers that I can be excited about.

You don't understand... Smash makes a lot of money, so we don't have to factor in the realities of game development

What if we started with a slightly smaller base roster, like the 68 characters that Garteam proposed, but just extended the DLC support for more seasons so we end up with the same end roster total after it’s all done that everyone like Darth and I are hoping for? It would just take longer to get there. I could definitely live with that if we get everything over time instead of all at launch. I think that’s probably a more realistic approach and it could help keep the game relevant over the life of the Switch 2.
