Next Smash Direct

Character-wise, I likely won't care since I already have Palutena, though there's still ridiculous choices that can be possible.

That aside, here's stuff I'd imagine if it was actually a Smash Direct, and what I'd want to see.

-Custom specials. I want to see more of this, as well as displaying at least one custom per character. At the end, I want to see more about Palutena's, to show the trait of her customs being unique rather than variations of current moves.

-More stages, of course.

-Whatever that mode was where we saw Pika hitting boxes in a previous PotD. I'm still curious about it.

-Music Sample. We had music samples in Brawl and KI:U before they were released, so why not for this game, too?

-Display more Palutena. I know I'm biased about this one, but with her having a very small amount of snapshots and PotD (that recent screenshots bundle found earlier counts), I would think that talking more about her would make up for that small info amount we've gotten, plus we may learn of her default specials.

-Newcomer I may not care for.

While I wouldn't bet on another direct entirely smash focused (although I really hope we get one), I would bet on another Nintendo direct in August with a smash character reveal trailer snuck into it somewhere, like with Rosalina's, and Little Mac's.

I mean, there's a lot it could be. People still expect Shulk/Chorus men, even after Gematsu, and for various good reasons.

Mewtwo still has a lot going for him, but I think he'd be a secret character.

August is also the month of Metroid anniversaries, including the original; making Ridley a strong contender.

And not to mention the other handful of characters that are hyped right now, including Isaac, King K. Rool, Takamaru, ect.

It's pretty exciting, there's no telling what we'll get : )

There will definitely be a new direct before the 3DS version releases in September. Maybe even one before Hyrule Warriors in August.

But I cannot see us getting another Smash Bros dedicated direct. Especially with all these other games coming out this year.

Eh, a lot of people are still on both sides of it. Before the Robin reveal I was beginning to be convinced it was legit, but now I've moved back towards my skeptical standpoint. If we do get Shulk and a rhythm heaven rep, then maybe it was just outdated. But sal's source has been wrong about too many things for me to take it at face value anymore.

But even if Gematsu is still legit, we still don't know what we'll get in August, so I'm still excited

Captain Falcon was revealed on an anniversary, I believe!

And I'm just hoping we get an answer to some of the divisive questions, like Ridley or the fate of Shulk/Chorus Men. Or even just Robin gameplay! All I know is it will be something I won't expect, and I'll love it. :D

I'm still sticking with the belief that there won't be any secret characters. I'm not 100% on that, but I think it's a strong possibility. Sakurai wants to control the hype and reveal, and I could imagine insane trailers to end off the build up to release.

As @ FancysaurusRex said, Falcon was revealed with an anniversary. But plenty of anniversaries have been completely ignored, so take it with a grain of salt.

And now that Sakurai trolled everyone with Takamaru's "reveal", things are up in the air.

I want Ridley for the Metroid anniversary, and Shulk because I liked Xenoblade. I'm sure they can cram the rest of the returning veterans into those reveal trailers, post somewhere saying "That's it guys, ROB and the rest you haven't seen are gone.", and let us go on to speculating things besides Ridley. Besides, I'm still hoping we don't get any of that nonsense from Rhythm Heaven, and getting them either confirmed or denied will at least let me stop dreading it.

Also, Xenoblade's European anniversary is in August.

I mean... It wouldn't be surprising if I was, but it wouldn't be surprising if I wasn't. I'm not getting my hopes up for anything more than a Newcomer (and a veteran but whatever).

If we're following the every two months rule, it'd be in October. The middle of October, obviously.
It's a month after the game releases.

We might be seeing two new-comers and an unconfirmed veteran at Nintendo Direct and one more veteran just before Smash Bros for 3DS released in Japan.

The trailer theme for Nintendo Direct could be everything 2D, the new-comers will be Paper Mario and Chorus Men and a veteran will be Mr. G&W.

Coincidentally, their (new-comers') game anniversaries are also around mid July ~ early August and Mr. G&W will just reveal along with other 2D characters.

After that, Ness will be revealed on August 27 for his Mother 2's 20th anniversary and then we will wait till Smash Bros for 3DS comes out in Japan.

I think sakurai said on his twitter he would keep some secrets in the game for the player to find out, Anyway I think the next trailer will be in september and I think it will reveal Shulk, Ness and another veteran.

Don't see why we wouldn't. Smash will probably be the biggest Wii U game. Zelda will be huge but won't bring in that family-party audience, and nothing has been as big as Smash yet. Mario Kart was huge but Smash will be bigger. Why not explain it more, give it more attention, and discuss it more in another direct as we get closer to release? Especially when Sakurai wants to take more control of reveals and surprises with the game. Perfect storm for another Smash focused direct where we will all laugh, explode, die, and live happily ever after in the eternal Battlefield.

It's a tad naiive to think Smash will outshine Mario Kart.

Mario Kart Wii sold over 35 million copies, while Brawl + Melee = less than 20 million.

Mario Kart 8 will be the reason to buy a Wii U for the holiday. Smash will most likely be just thrown in with it.

Im looking at ridley for this direct in august or september due to being the best for last before the release (and probably 1 or 2 more trailers after the 3ds version in japan gets release because theres still the usa version and the wii u version to come out.)

Honestly, I think the four most interesting new comers for Zelda are Tetra/Toon Zelda, Impa, Tingle, or Goron. Now before anyone say why Goron or think I chose them because of Hyrule Warriors, I honestly thought they would be unique considering they've been more recurring than the others listed, plus I've had this idea for while

Back on topic, I do hope we still get a Smash direct before or on the 14th. Just in time for Nintendo to beat the leaks, and show us themselves.

Probably Ganondorf, I mean I could see Tingle as a major upset but if there's anybody it's Ganondorf.

It would be a good place too, because they saved Yoshi for a Direct as he had big changes, they are hopefully doing the same with Ganondorf. I mean if they completely changed his moveset and added a sword then that would be worth it's own trailer.

To be quite honest, I don't want a Zelda character reveal for Smash in the Hyrule Warriors Direct. I'd rather just they focus on Hyrule Warriors, and maybe announce some features and characters for it. It needs more spotlight, Smash has already got plenty and is going to sell, there is no need for it to be invading other game's time in the spotlight, especially since Hyrule Warriors is technically a third party game.
