Hot take: Bayonetta is a wholesome magical nun/dancer that exudes feminism and pokes fun of ultra violence by being as campy/overthetop and unrealistic as possible. Despite being persecuted by religious zealots and surviving a genocide orchestrated by her own father, she's able to move on, make peace with it, and casually do her own thing while having some fun.

Companies shouldn't think she'll tarnish their reputation by association; she could actually improve it.

Bayonetta as a character is sexualized, but unlike most sexualized characters she's visually designed to be sexy from a woman's point of view.

Knowing the Smash community, people would probably start questioning her mysterious absence and believing that she's got a good chance to be future DLC or something. Probably for the best to rip the bandaid off and let everyone know what was going on behind the scenes..

Regarding KOS-MOS...

How exactly do you censor something that isn't even covered up properly? Her little skirt thing looks more like it would be a belt or something, as it doesn't properly cover up her leotard. No matter where you look from either below or above, you'll see her leotard. Even regarding KOS-MOS' design from Xenosaga 1.

The skirt is impractical as it doesn't properly cover her up. You can't use a blackhole to cover her up as you can already see all of her leotard from looking down. KOS-MOS could get in with some modifications with her Xenosaga 3 design, but the only outfit that would have no issues with censorship is KOS-MOS' Xenosaga 2 design and oh boy, Xenosaga 2 is not in the good books.

I don't think it would've made much of a difference, considering how frickin' popular Mai is among the SNK fandom. Like despite knowing next to nothing about King of Fighters, I remember when one of the King of Fighters games released without her and fans were livid. Mai not appearing among the cameos and not saying anything about her would more than likely have had fans clamouring for why she wasn't included.

Edit: I just remembered that KOS-MOS did have two looks in Xenosaga 3. One during the first half and the other during the 2nd half. Her first look actually is tame for the most part.

Yeah. Pyra's sexualization comes more from the fact that everything about her draws the eyes to the boobs. It's kind of annoying really.

We shouldn't be talking about it for long. It'll die down by the time the new DLC buzz does or when they reveal the next character.

At least I hope it does. It's a good discussion for now but the longer the subject goes on the more likely it'll become toxic.

It's not to say men can't find her attractive either, just that men didn't design her. Or more accurately she wasn't designed to be "sexy" in a way that just gives you something to ogle.

As far as the video leak goes, the longer it stays up makes me not believe in it, as convincing as it looks! I don’t think that Doom Guy is the fifth character at all. If anything, I’m betting more so on a Bandai or Capcom character to make it as that fifth DLC slot that Doom Guy.

He could still should up as one of the first post fighter pass characters but as the fifth fighter. Nah, I don’t think so. I’m more so betting on either Lloyd, Leon/Jill (either or), Dante, or Heihachi as the frontrunners for that fifth slot.

Of course I’ll make a brief mention of Sora, as he would be great finisher character, but I doubt it and hopefully he’ll be a post fighter character situation. But hey, prove me wrong Sakurai, cause I actually like it when you do it!

Sorry for bringing up the "Mii Costume leak" again but while I am leaning toward it being real, for now I'm on #teamneutral until the truth emerges.

Speaking of fighting game characters, I think Terry's presentation soft confirmed Heihachi as future DLC.

I would rather see Ragna, Sol, Nightmare, or Scorpion get in Smash OVER HEIHACHI!

This **** is the one reason I wish their targeted rating was Teen instead of E10+ or whatever the equivalent is in Japan. All of these characters could've easily made it into a Teen rated Smash like Melee or Brawl... probably.

They could do what they did with Mythra and give her a black skin suit underneath. Maybe make the metal armor into a one-piece instead of a skirt.

It seems like SNK was really easy to work with when it came to their representation in Smash in comparison to pretty much every other 3rd party. Not to mention how much Sakurai loves their games. I’d be surprised if we didn’t get another fighter from them in Ultimate.

I'd want to think that, but it sounds like Terry was meant to represent SNK as a whole, judging by the spirits board and music that covers pretty much all of SNK's big series.

actually a lot of bayo fans in the discord find her proportions in smash to be really bad. in canon she's 8 feet tall. her model in smash is really akward when you just look at it in photo mode.

Sakurai is huge fan of snk he played the game sin arcades back in the day. he really almost had to acknowledge her not being there. especially given the cameos happening. Its an interesting discussion it beats mindless speculation on almost certainly fake leaks. Pulled back the curtain on the dev process and showed what they are actually dealing with and what rating boards actually care about.

plus the knowledge that a rating board considers palutena and tharja more threatening to children innocence than Bayonetta is actually hilarious. its like in the 50s how America censored elvis hips moves when he danced on tv.

I'm not arguing that her proportions deviate from canon, and on that basis I can understand why they wouldn't like them. But I think they're super weird looking in her own games, and would look even more jarring when standing next to the (mostly) normal human (or human-like) characters in Smash.

And I think Sakurai agreed with that last part, hence the altercations in her physiology for Smash.
