Yeah. They said that the reason why Isabelle is not an echo of Villager is because they have completely different personalities
Does he/she have a personality or is it like, do whatever the player makes me do? idk

Since Steve wasn't revealed at Minecon. My prediction has been changed slightly with the final characters.

October: Duo reveal of 69: Incineroar and 60e: Ken.
November: Smash Direct reveals 70: Banjo or Steve, 71: Elma, 72: Geno, 36e: Dixie Kong, 38e: Shadow and 54e: Medusa as the final characters.

Name one 3rd party series from all smashes that had more than one assist trophy
So far, as far as we know, none. But that doesn't mean it can't happen and to assume other wise would just be relying on the same type of fan-rule that ended up with people being surprised when a third-party series got a second character. Ultimate is clearly a different beast from previous games in many ways so again nothing states a third-party franchise can't have two Assist Trophies.

Nah,,, People seriously overestimated the chances of that character.

Honestly, Shadow and Isaac are also 50% and not safe bets; not even Geno.

I would say that Dixie is the only character who has very high chances of being in, though she missing from leaks is not really positive for her inclusion.
I'm even taking Ken and Incineroar with a grain of salt too; that screenshot is very detailed and all, but I have seen lots of impressive photoshop works in the past and this may be one of those; not to mention Steve.

I think that Bandana Waddle Dee's only hope is if Sakurai decides to ignore his own selection criteria to please all those people who requested him; that's the very only case I can see Bandana Dee in smash.
Let's be real, K Rool and Ridley were very requested but they are also very important and iconic in the series they come from; K Rool was unused but it's still the main villain of the DK classics, he's part of Nintendo's history.
Bandana Dee only appears everywhere but he has nowere near as much relevance as King K Rool and Ridley, not even Dark Samus to be precise.
Appearing in some minor spin-offs, throwing food at the player and sleeping, being a joke boss... yes, he has been playable, but that means nothing, look at Toad.... and the Nabbit.
I also think that Sakurai would be against the inclusion of Bandana Dee, and that's just because he created the character.
He created the character as a costume for a minigame, he was not intended to be a full character but a funny costume; other regular enemies in that minigame had costumes as well, none of them became a character.
Bandana Dee as a character goes against his initial vision of the character, and since Sakurai dislikes when people propose him to change his vision, I think he would be against the character.
Look at Kirby's color, and in Smash Ultimate, at how he was against changing WiiFit Trainer's face and making Villager's neck a bit longer, so much that he felt like mentioning it in the presentation and in some interviews.
Guys, Bandana Dee is most likely not happening.
If you think Bandanna Dee is less important to his franchise as K. Rool or Dark Samus, I don’t know what to tell you. Nintendo clearly doesn’t seem to agree, as they left both characters behind (Dark Samus for narrative reasons, K. Rool not so much). Contrast with Bandanna Dee, who only has grown in importance with each game (I think the comparison with Toad is fair, in that they’re both important and should be in).

At the end of the day, the ballot talks, everything else is bull****.

Yeah. They said that the reason why Isabelle is not an echo of Villager is because they have completely different personalities and proportions. While Dixie has the same proportions as Diddy, she would not make sense as his echo. As you said, her ponytail is too iconic to her to not include in her moveset.
Donkey Kong's up b just so happens to do the thing Dixie's ponytail does.. Echos can borrow from a different character too, like how Chrom does for Ike's up b but is actually a echo to Roy.

Tiny Kong is Dixie's sister, so they could actually replace Diddy's peanut popper with Tiny's feather bow and it would work and any monkey can do a monkey flip or can throw a banana peel.. Maybe just color it purple or something

So is the idea that if Medusa's an echo, she can use Palutena's unique(?) custom moves assuming they're scrapped for Ultimate? I can see them also doing that for Megaman by using Roll, as every other Megaman rep is taken. Any other echos we could get through this idea?

The more I think about it, the more Dixie Kong makes sense as a semi-clone DLC Fighter. I’m increasingly convinced she isn’t making it into the base game, mostly because I’m convinced that she won’t just be an Echo fighter at this point. I don’t think there’s a good way to incoporate new moves into her (and the DK up-B is probably not as simple to graft on to Diddy for that purpose).

A lot of the Smash 4 DLC characters used others as bases, plus she’s a well known and desired character.

From what Sakurai has said, I just think that’s the best shot she has for Ultimate at this point.

Yes Dk's up b would have to reworked which probably make her get out of echo status(plus she needs to twirl as apposed to cartwheeling) so it definitely feels like she should be more of a semi clone.

It actually wouldn't hurt me if they went with the echo treatment but I would love for her to be a semi clone or unique character instead.

The question is who will be better on the teir.. Diddy or Dixie?

Getting Dixie as a DLC Semi Clone just makes more sense for her to me.

I wish I had your level of confidence, I'm struggling to imagine getting more than three characters left counting echos.

I keep theorizing that the last few newcomers to be revealed will hopefully be geno and Isaac as they have been highly requested ever since the brawl days. If not base, then I am praying that they make it in as dlc somehow.

I was thinking about how many vs matches will unlock the entire roster, so I counted 610 vs matches so far from unlocking Luigi to Isabelle.. 620 including Dark Samus considering our roster starts as the og N64 roster and a new challenger appears every 10 matches, so the question is how many vs matches total will get the entire roster? Going by this research, I hope it goes to 1000 just like Melee!

There's nothing bad about it, it's just that many aren't expecting it to happen especially when there's only so many characters left to add.

I still have my hope for Dixie though.
I don't expect her either (or at least I don't expect her as a not echo fighter)

But this thought makes me sick, because there would be nothing of wrong in adding 2 characters from the same series. It shouldn't be an obstacle. The only thing that should count is if that character "deserve" it.
Especially when we have plenty of previous cases and at least one happened in a very similar situation as reguarding numbers

It really sucks that every game we get two Pokémon newcomers but suddenly adding two highly requested characters from the underrepped DK series is too much.

We didn't get two Pokemon newcomers in every game. Smash 4 only added Greninja.

I don't count Mewtwo because he was already playable (in Melee). He's a veteran.
Suit yourself. That still makes Pikachu and Jigglypuff in 64, Mewtwo and Pichu in Melee, Lucario, Squirtle, Ivysaur and Charizard in Brawl(!!!), and Greninja in 4.

So when people complain about Metroid getting too much focus or say it’s unfair for Donkey Kong to get two newcomers, it’s super hypocritical.

Yeah. If Metroid can get two newcomers, why can't Donkey Kong?

I would MUCH rather have a second DK rep for Smash Ultimate than have a new Pokemon rep. I feel like the game is already saturated with Pokemon. I totally get that Pokemon is one of Nintendo's biggest franchises, but when you think of Dixie Kong, that is a Nintendo All-Star. A character like Incineroar or even Greninja from last game doesn't have that same appeal. Frankly, the majority of the Pokemon reps I don't feel are that strong. While I see why each was added, I think there are better choices from other games. Dixie being one of them. Adding Incineroar or another Gen 7 Pokemon wouldn't be that bad if characters like K. Rool and Ridley were added in earlier versions, as they should rightfully have been. People forget how important the DK series was early on for Nintendo and how important Metroid was during the Gamecube era. Pokemon definitely has the mass appeal, but DK and Metroid are very important too, and having four characters in Smash per series is more than reasonable.

That was possible because the FE characters have the same body type allowing them to easily copy/paste one character's moves onto another. DK and Dixie do not share the same body type.

I highly doubt that it would take that many matches to unlock everyone. Sakurai has said that he wants unlocking characters to be more streamlined when compared to previous games.

Per five matches then?

I still find per 10 matches to be rather "steamlined" if you ask me...

Because it would take a large amount of matches to unlock everyone.
Sure quite a bit of time but still pretty easy never the less. I could be wrong about this but it was just an idea was all and 700 matches seems pretty rounded too for that matter.

The streamlined aspect of unlocking characters may be found in Spirits mode, assuming it is indeed some type of adventure mode.

And with playing matches, at least it's not as bad as leaving your Gamecube on overnight. I doubt you'd unlock a character every 2-5 matches.

I think Spirits will be one of its many "steamlined" ways. I also think Vs. matches and the amiibo will also be among those too. Maybe even buying them at a store or something simple say like unlocking Dark Samus by beating Classic Mode with Samus or playing on a Mario stage once to unlock Peach.

I still would rather no new pokemon, but even before the leaks just thought one was kind of inevitable.

Same here but as you said it is inevitable. Thing with Pokemon while Mario maybe Nintendo's most recognizable and iconic franchise. Pokemon is however its most popular so its no wonder there tends to be new Pokemon always being added to the roster.

A new Pokemon is not inevitable. Sakurai might break the trend and not introduce one.
With Pokemon's popularity I find that hard to believe tbh and all supporting evidence so far is leaning to believe we will be getting one (Most likely Incineroar) alongside Ken.

Maybe as he has been wrong a few times but more often then not he's gotten most of his predictions right which is why we should keep watch on him for in case he maybe right about the final roster.
But still, just because he got some of his claims right does not mean that they are all correct.
