This is a terrible comparison.
I'll do you one better then: Joker and Snake come from universes where sex has been mentioned/implied. In fact, the SMT spin-off Catherine uses sex and relationships as a world-building element. And yet here's Joker, in Smash, from the same franchise that brought us Mara.

I don’t care about new FE stuff, but it’s pretty selfish to act like FE fans are in the wrong or less deserving of characters they really like
Games that already have tons of reps ARE less deserving than games that still have none.

Another important thing to note about FE is that, while it has only seen super success in this decade
Okay, lets not be hyperbolic. FE has still never seen "super" success. It's selling much better than it used to, but it's still just selling pretyy good.

Also, it's worth mentioning that Fire Emblem is developed by Intelligent Systems. The vitriol thrown at their characters suggests you lack something else as well.
I get that the FE hate is overboard but I don't think personally insulting someone over video game characters is called for.

I mean to be technical Mario Sunshine implies the same. I know FF7 has an implication with a scene between Cloud and Tifa

I just don't agree with the whole "deserving" argument since it's a videogame.

Even if Pikmin's representation is terrible (notably Olimar and Alph themselves; their portrayals), but no one cares about that.

Some people also act like hypocrites and use it against franchises that very clearly fit their made-up quota before they introduce their somehow-factual distaste of said franchise.

Since its the current topic. What do you guys think of the chances of an FE rep beyond the first pass?

Would like it to be Edelgard since she uses an axe but got a feeling it'd be Byleth.

It's missing something. Post a fan roster that conveniently cuts half the FE cast while adding another Pokemon and Mario rep to their high count.
Bonus points if they complain about FE being all swords while having the next Pokemon be another big bipedal starter.

Pikmin isn't a platformer so the MUH REPS crowd doesn't count

Fire Emblem: Geneology of the Holy War has a plot point that involves incest.
EDIT: Also there's a support conversation that implies that the two have sex right afterward (in the middle of the battlefield no less).

Since its the current topic. What do you guys think of the chances of an FE rep beyond the first pass?
Incalculable.

I'm still of the opinion that none of the DLC will be 1st/2nd party at all, but that's just my gut and the current all 3rd party season pass fueling that.

Nintendo paid people who's careers is to have the bouncy bounce and be naked to market a game which is now in Smash.
Saber has 1 game with some sex scenes that the franchise abandoned

How is it terrible?
Because she wasn't paid to have sex? She was a playboy model? Nude modelling does not = porn star. And anyway her career is as a model and youtuber. I am genuinely floored by the false equivalency you used.

Plus, them using a playboy for marketing doesn't actually affect any in game content.

Oh and it's two games.

Yup, a game where characters have uncensored PIV sex is exactly the same as people talking about sex. Well done, gold star. /s

Anyway, the real reason Saber isn't getting into Smash has already been said, her popularity is from anime not from games.

Can we go back to discussing Three Houses? An actual game that is good?

Oh it was Playboy, I misremembered and thought it was the one that gets censored on this site

Certainly plausible. It would most definitely have to be from Three Houses. It would just come down to who Nintendo included on their list and whether Sakurai picked them. All four main characters offer something to the table, but the only ones I've seen people take seriously are Byleth and Edelgard. To me, their debates ultimately boil down to who from Three Houses should get in first.

I've seen a couple of people seriously suggest this concept, one I'm outright against, but they think that forcing the Pokemon Trainer gimmick onto Byleth and the three lords is a good idea. They're doing it with the wrong group of FE characters. They should be rallying for the Summoner from Fire Emblem Heroes if they seriously want "Pokemon Trainer but with FE characters."

Oh indeed! Problem is, has a tendency to go for low-hanging fruit himself*

Also, I have a reputation for Incredibly Lame Puns. Was it mean? Probably! I certainly didn't intend for it to come off as demeaning. But if that's the message it delivers, then I apologize. It was just a gag I couldn't pass up on. I'll own my mistake.* Earnestly speaking though, I just thought it was funny. I wasn't completely serious.

I'm merely contributing to everything that could possibly support Saber's inclusion with any examples that come to mind o/

You have this unusual problem with how Saber is presented. It ain't healthy*

Bravo! Bravo! Well done! Well done!

Yeah no, it IS the same thing.* The games are rife and heavy in that stuff. Fate only had one or two entries making use of eroge tropes, then they moved on because they had the budget to just build upon the characters and the worlds. Never mind the fact that Nintendo worked with those artists for illustrations in recent games.*

Oh, and her being "popular through anime" makes about as much sense as saying Sonic is popular through deviantart, which also has no bearing on whether or not she becomes playable.

Slim to none in my opinion but that's only because I'm hoping that we get some iconic third party characters like Jin Kazama, Doom Guy, Dante, Klonoa, Crash Bandicoot, Ryu Hayabusa, etc.

If we're going to get a Fire Emblem three houses character, I can't imagine it being anyone other than Byleth if we're going by Protagonist theory.

Three Houses shouldn't get a character and it probably won't.

I would give it a 20 percent chance honestly, which I think is a lot lower then other people think. On one hand, if advertising the game was such a big deal to Nintendo and Sakurai, they would have added a character before the game came out. Not because of stupid patterns, but because that is always how you do advertisements (for example, Corrin was added before fates was released in the West, Roy was added before his game was released and Hero was added months before DQ11 S dropped). And to top that off, FP1 was entirely (assuming FP5 is the same as the others) unrepped third parties that have a long legacy. So on that note, I think WHAT the DLC is matters a ton for their chances. If its another FP and the first 2 fighters are unrepped third parties, yeah I would say their chances go down quite significantly and I would put them at a 5 percent shot. If its DLC being sold separately from each other, then I would say about a 25 percent chance whether Sakurai decides to add them. Its also is worth noting that the last time Corrin was added, the devs went to Sakurai to convince him, so he might decide not to choose a Fire emblem rep again if he isn't approached by the devs.
As for the rep, I think it would be Byleth, no question. Sakurai always picks the protagonists of the game, and there no doubt that Byleth is the main protagonist of the game, as all of the routes focus on him and HE is the main controllable unit. This isn't even a case like Awakening where you could argue Chrom was the main character, Byleth straight up is the main character. Although Edelgard would be cool and could be chosen, I just think it would definitly be Byleth.

Just being in the industry as long as it has (while being very influential) and still making games/music as fantastic as they do, I hope Nihon Falcom gets a rep (or even a Mii costume with a few songs). They're a relatively small company that can't release their titles internationally without huge delays. With the right exposure, they'd gain traction overseas. Trails and Ys just deserves more recognition, darn it. >_<

If they were to add a Fire Emblem: 3 Houses character, do you think they'd give it a unique victory theme like the Fire Emblem: Awakening characters and Corrin have? If so if what song would the choose? Edge of Dawn?

The summoner guy has a name but for the life of me I can't remember what it is. It's something weird though. Anywho, if Byleth were to take the tactition route then it'd probably summon them when using special moves rather then just be the background character.

Jin ain't getting in over Heihachi. What Scorpion is the Mortal Kombat is what Heihachi is to Tekken. Despite not being the main protagonists they're the mascots and poster boys.
Ehh, I dunno... I feel like Jin's got a decent shot over Heihachi provided Namco doesn't go for the poster-boy line of reasoning.

Now... If we get both Jin and Heihachi ALA Ryu and Ken, then that's a whole other story.

If they were to add a Fire Emblem: 3 Houses character, do you think they'd give it a unique victory theme like the Fire Emblem: Awakening characters and Corrin have? If so if what song would the choose? Edge of Dawn?

Definitely some variation of Edge of Dawn. It's kind of the main theme after all.

I don't know. Jin Kazama would just add more to the table than Heihachi and he is the face of Tekken 3 the most popular game of the series. Besides we don't know what they're going to do with Heihachi now that he is seemingly burned in molten lava and not a vampire. Plus his voice actor has passed away and they might retire the character but who knows. We'll just have to wait and see what they do if they add a character from Tekken into Smash Ultimate.

If we get a Three Houses character, I think it should be Edelgard. That'd be a best case scenario for me.

Except Heihachi's been in more crossover games. So its pretty obvious they'd go with him hence the poster boy and mascot of the series.

Also the whole voice actor thing. They can just replace his voice actor as they had with the others which would make no difference or recycle those like they did for:ultbanjokazooie:

Which is painfully ironic considering how tame and conservative Saber is as a character in self-expression. But who cares? She ****ed on-screen, so she's totally a pornographic icon! Why are we discussing a character who did a normal living thing within view? /s
That game could have done sex tastefully and with actual narrative impact. Instead they shoe horned it in because they thought it would sell better, then removed it later when they got embarrassed. That doesn't change the fact that the best selling version of that game is the eroge version.

"I didn't see it, so it doesn't count!"
Bravo! Bravo! Well done! Well done!

Yeah no, it IS the same thing, genius. The games are rife with sexual content, and are heavier on the stuff as well. Fate only had one or two entries making use of eroge tropes, then they moved on because they had the budget to just build upon the characters and the worlds. Never mind the fact that Nintendo worked with hentai authors for illustrations in recent games. "She's a porn character" is both wrong and NOT an excuse to exclude her.
I just want to *chefs kisses* your use of "eroge tropes" what a beautiful deflection.

Oh also, working with hentai authors isn't bad. Another terrible false equivalency. Doing sex work isn't bad, and as long as they weren't including hentai in their work for Nintendo then who cares?

Oh, and her being "popular through anime" makes about as much sense as saying Sonic is popular through deviantart, which also has no bearing on whether or not she becomes playable.
*looks at the many, many popular Sonic games* yup, Fate is the same as Sonic.

When fate has had the impact on video games that Sonic the Hedgehog has, then you can say that. Instead all I see are two eroges, a few spin-offs, a gacha game and a load of anime adaptations.

Saber is not getting into Smash off of her video game credentials, and that is where I'm going to stop this conversation.

My money is on the Heihachi Mii costume is returning, and Tekken isn't getting a character.
Also, characters die and are resurrected, rebooted, and retconed all the time.
Voice actors are replaced all the time.

As an outsider I don't see why they'd add Jin instead of Heihachi. He's the only character I've seen outside of Tekken and I suspect is by far the most notable among non-Tekken fans. They may decide Jin represents the game better, but I suspect most people would be more accepting of Heihachi since they already know/are attatched to him.

Not every character inclusion has to be an advertisement pick. We'd just get a repeat of Corrin where the Smash fandom throws a fit over another FE rep getting in before their game is released. There are people still scarred by Corrin's inclusion. I must prefer getting someone after their game had release. At least we can familiarize ourselves with these characters and decide whether we'd still like to see them in Smash or not.

Those are fair points. I still stand by Jin Kazama being vastly more appealing as a choice should Tekken get a fighter at some point.

But ehhh... Considering my first two Namco choices, I'd rather see a Tekken rep come much later. That's just me though.

That's what I'm saying.

Heihachi's been shown outside more which means he's THE poster boy and mascot. That's who they always go with when it comes to representation in crossovers.

Jin getting in over Heihachi in anything would be like Liu Kang over Scorpion. It ain't gonna happen.

Yeah, it's Kiran. His name would be Kiran, but at the same time, we have a canon name for Trainer, but his name in Smash is still Pokemon Trainer.

And I am also against incorporating the Lords onto Byleth's moveset outside of a final smash. You're just forcing Byleth to be different for the sake of being different.

That is true and he has been a Mii Costume in Smash 4 but Sakurai did say that he had trouble implementing his moveset into the Smash Bros environment during his interview on Pac-Man so Jin Kazama could fix that problem with his access to the Devil gene.

It could also be the case with Roy Campbell's Japanese voice actor where they retired the character out of respect.

My money is on the Heihachi Mii costume is returning, and Tekken isn't getting a character.
I do see that happening and that might actually come with Terry Bogard.
