Goat Simulator was intentionally janky and had a weird tongue to mess things up, but Untitled Goose Game has a lot of polish behind it to genuinely make you feel like a horrible goose with the same abilities as everyday geese ruining people's day. I think its appeal will be more long-lasting, like how Donut County is.
I think a Goose could create an interesting moveset, it's a unique shape (not humanoid), and the concept of a character that's based around being an asshole to your opponent is an interesting idea.
Unlike the safety guy and Labo man, a horrible goose never goes out of style. Anyone who has ruffled the feathers of these winged dinosaurs in real life, whether directly or indirectly, will know why. I remember a handful of them chasing me when I was a kid because I made the mistake of giving one bread.

Goose definitely separates itself from the typical flavor of the week characters, and while it isn't a likely pick it's an extremely novel character that would invoke the same fun vibes as Piranha Plant. Bring on the Goose!

Would the Goose count as a video game character though? It's completely indistinguishable from any other Goose.
It's just for the lulz really. I don't want it, but the concept of a goose that goes around doing damage to fighters through sheer annoyance is hilarious.

Don't think it's a problem as long as the character hails from a videogame. It's not like the goose's likeness is copyrighted or anything, not to mention one of the Duck Hunt duck's palette swaps is literally a male mallard.
I'm just thinking because Geese originate from real life so it would count as a non-video game character and it's literally a goose.
Then Dracula shouldn't be in Smash lol
We got a character called Hero, I don't think Goose is a problem. You can have a character be a nondescript member of any species and still be a character, that depends on personality.
Anything to stop talking about Ryu Hayabusa and Doomguy for the millionth time.
It’s kind of weird that we keep coming back to the same two or three characters after Terry basically exposed the community’s collective blind spots, but here we are.

You make a sarcastic remark but that is a fair point. I hope that means the Kingdom Hearts versions of Donald and Goofy can still make a cameo if Sora gets into Smash Bros.
Hero is just a name though. Their designs are original unlike the goose. The goose acts like a regular goose and it's name is goose.

Maybe so, but he’s a delightfully funny, cell-shaded goose.
But there is no man that can look exactly like Little Mac because he has anime eyes and comes from a world where boxers do all sorts of wacky animations when they get knocked out.

Yuna would be pretty cool, and she has so many possible alt costumes she could have due to X-2's awesome dress sphere system. She could work like Zelda/Shiek in Melee/Brawl. Summoner then switch to her Gunner Dressphere
Yeah with how Square Enix markets its games and how most Nintendo fans know absolutely nothing about Final Fantasy beyond Cloud, I'm going to say that if we're getting another Final Fantasy character (which is already doubtful as it is) we're literally going to have the entire cast of FF7 before we get a single character from any other game in the series.You know who may have a good chance into Smash I see no one talking about?
