Honestly, it's kind of a wonder nobody else does it.I was waiting for that. I like how Courier New looks. There's no real reason beyond that. If I can make my posts pretty, I might as well do it.

It’s just a little harder to read what with the thin text, honestly I’ve kind of skipped over a few of your posts for that reason, no offense.I was waiting for that. I like how Courier New looks. There's no real reason beyond that. If I can make my posts pretty, I might as well do it.
They're afraid of looking silly or pretentious, maybe. That's understandable. I'm definitely at least one of those things though, and I'm not terribly concerned that I may appear that way.Honestly, it's kind of a wonder nobody else does it.
None taken. If this is better on that front, I'll switch to this. What do you think? It’s just a little harder to read what with the thin text, honestly I’ve kind of skipped over a few of your posts for that reason, no offense.
Nintendo makes the choices and sakurai reviews the choices. Was Nintendo?
I think that’s better but don’t let my nitpicking away your decision one way or the other. You do you. They're afraid of looking silly or pretentious, maybe. That's understandable. I'm definitely at least one of those things though, and I'm not terribly concerned that I may appear that way.

I mean, New Leaf only sold about a million more than Wild World. Wild World, on the other hand, sold almost ten million more than the (western) original. It also spawned an anime and had Nintendo tout the Wii sequel as one of their centrepieces of the hilariously abysmal E3 2008.I'd still say the Animal Crossing games were lesser known to the mainstream up until New Leaf, which I would say is comparable to FE Awakening in terms of the popularity boost it gave the series. If you look at the New Horizons sales numbers compared to New Leaf, the numbers have increased dramatically.
Still a pretty bad comparison I made, the general point I'm trying to get across is that Animal Crossing has surged in popularity this year, more than it ever has before.
I'd go for one more crazy announcement personally, but I also think there's room for some smaller characters.I do hope that the last 3 of the pass continue with the crazy announcements that were Steve and Sephiroth. I think Min-Min, although an excellent choice, was still a very lukewarm character for most people. With Sephiroth and Steve they appeal to two COMPLETELY different generations of gamers and are both a huge deal in their own right. I would love to see Sakurai keep pushing that envelope.
Let me pose you a question then. Do you personally feel AC is up for another character? Or do you think what's already in Smash is likely enough?I mean, New Leaf only sold about a million more than Wild World. I'd say Wild World did the most for the series until New Horizons.
And I agree that AC has surged in popularity, but a triple-A surging in popularity really only hastens the path it was already on. I mean, Zelda has gone from the three million selling Skyward Sword to the twenty million selling BotW. So we'll get more frequent attention on it, but it was going to get red carpet treatment regardless. When all is said and done BotW is going to more than double the sales of the next most successful Zelda, and that series was already considered one of Nintendo's "big three".
I don’t necessarily mean these HUGE characters. More so, I’m looking for these generational crossings that have come out of both Steve and Sephiroth. Two completely different types of gamers blown away by each reveal for one game is an incredibly rare thing that only Smash can do. And I love that.I'd go for one more crazy announcement personally, but I also think there's room for some smaller characters.
I do feel it's warranting another character, but I've felt that way since before New Horizons was even a thing. Because even before that game it was already a triple-A series that only had two characters and one foundational moveset.Let me pose you a question then. Do you personally feel AC is up for another character? Or do you think what's already in Smash is likely enough?
Just put both Trigger and Chross music because God knows Smash needs more music from Yasunori MitsudaI HAVE ONE (1) ISSUE WITH THIS
You put Chrono Cross music but no Chrono Trigger music, yet you put Crono on the Spirit board, Crono doesn't even appear in Chrono Cross (That is just one of my many issues with Chrono Cross but I digress)this is a joke I don't really care
This whole thing is irrelevant I can't read
All seriousness though, I wish something like this would happen that would be godlike
I feel like we're in for at least one more huge bombshell next year. But yeah, I do think we are gonna get some "safer" characters. And by safer I mean characters like Ryu Hayabusa or Monster Hunter lol.I do hope that the last 3 of the pass continue with the crazy announcements that were Steve and Sephiroth. I think Min-Min, although an excellent choice, was still a very lukewarm character for most people. Eh, I feel like Min Min was overall positively received. If people weren't crazy about anything it was the lead up to her reveal or the odd way they went about announcing an ARMS rep.I do hope that the last 3 of the pass continue with the crazy announcements that were Steve and Sephiroth. I agree. Personally, I have trouble thinking up a moveset for an AC character aside from the ones we already see in Smash, but I'm sure something new could be worked out creatively, the games are very expansive with lots of materials to pull from.I do feel it's warranting another character, but I've felt that way since before New Horizons was even a thing. Because even before that game it was already a triple-A series that only had two characters and one foundational moveset.
I just think its relative lack of content has been due to it being comparatively newer to Smash (especially in playable form), Sakurai's initial misgivings, and the potential difficulty of incorporating its material onto a fighting game roster. Not its lack of success or prevalence.
Oh okay I get what you mean now. And yeah, I'm totally up for that. I'd love to see the crossover expanded to the absolute limit. How crazy can things get? Seeing how the different generations of gamers can relate to each other and learn from their respective experiences through Smash is one of the reasons I love Smash so much to begin with.I don’t necessarily mean these HUGE characters. More so, I’m looking for these generational crossings that have come out of both Steve and Sephiroth. Yeah. I'm pretty sure Min Min specifically was well received, but the ARMS announcement was met with a huge "meh".Eh, I feel like Min Min was overall positively received. If people weren't crazy about anything it was the lead up to her reveal or the odd way they went about announcing an ARMS rep.
There aren't too many characters left that check all those boxes.Potentially we Could get a Character that Appeals to All Sides
-Old Generation
-New Generation
-Casual Smash Fans
-Hardcore Smash Fans
-Nintendo Audience
-Non-Nintendo Audience
Maybe not though
She was definitely positively received, but there was a very clear difference between her and the other 2.Eh, I feel like Min Min was overall positively received. If people weren't crazy about anything it was the lead up to her reveal or the odd way they went about announcing an ARMS rep.
Sakurai also deeply stated there would be no dlc after mewtwo. Just playing devil's advocate here. Making dlc stretch to 2022 or 2023 wouldn't be unprecedented for fighting games. It isnt like the smash fanbase is dwindling away either. Profits are up from year on year profit margins, including downloadable software like dlc. If the dev team played their hands well, it could happen. I'm doubtful theres more after FP2 personally. Also the size of the team working on dlc cant be the sum of the entire crew. It isnt as if making dlc on this level completely keeps that many people away from other projects.I feel like FP3 is nearly impossible.
Smash 4's DLC started from 2014-2016.
FP2's DLC will start from 2018-2021 if it ends with FP2.
If Ultimate has FP3, it could very well end in 2024. That will be 6 years after Ultimate has released. The dev teams need a break after all of this, and Ultimate's player-base will be a lot smaller by the time FP3 ends. Plus, the team has more projects to work, like maybe a Kid Icarus: Uprising sequel.
And as I keep on saying, Sakurai has deeply stated that FP2 will be the last pass of Ultimate.
NoA didn't tweet that it would, but the Japanese livestream clearly says there won't be.Not sure why people think another character is gonna show up on the 17th
Did he? I just remember him stating that he would not do any DLC until the base game was done.Sakurai also deeply stated there would be no dlc after mewtwo.
Because they failed to read the Hype Responsibly sign. Not sure why people think another character is gonna show up on the 17th
This reminds me that somebody thought it'd be a good idea to make a sign that encouraged the opposite, and that there are people who unironically follow THAT sign...Because they failed to read the Hype Responsibly sign.
Sephiroth's restructuring of Shinra meant cutting costs everywhere.Ah yes,
Sephiroth is my favorite game company
It's kinda difficult, but one potential way to start would be to replace the Lloid Rocket with something else. That's been done twice already, and there's not much new stuff one can do with that. While finding another AC item might be difficult on the surface... I'm pretty sure that the different AC characters are associated with something that could be translated to Smash and not look out of place.I agree. Personally, I have trouble thinking up a moveset for an AC character aside from the ones we already see in Smash, but I'm sure something new could be worked out creatively, the games are very expansive with lots of materials to pull from.

hype responsibly sign: existsBecause they failed to read the Hype Responsibly sign.
I could see a playstyle for Tom Nook whereby he has a bell counter, and when he damages a character he racks up bells, and when is damaged he loses them, like a solo version of coin match. When he has more bells he does more damage, and vice versa. However, he has a potentially very powerful attack that scales to the quantity of bells, but when used would deplete his resource, and he'd have to start from zero again. Conceptually it'd be like if the Wario waft had ammo.I agree. Personally, I have trouble thinking up a moveset for an AC character aside from the ones we already see in Smash, but I'm sure something new could be worked out creatively, the games are very expansive with lots of materials to pull from.
No idea when Challenger 9 will be announced, but I'd bet on a March release. What schedule you guys think is being planned for the three fighters left? I'm betting something like fighter #79 in march, fighter #80 in june (at E3) and fighter #81 in september/october.
Don't keep your expectations up too high. All of Ultimate's phases seem to only have two "hype bombs" dropped.I do hope that the last 3 of the pass continue with the crazy announcements that were Steve and Sephiroth.
it's a crime how comic sans can't be chosen from the font list, so you gotta do it manually.
SAME WITH PAPYRUS.
i just dont buy that for chun-li. id buy moveset creation and adaption issues for astral chain but not chun-li.Chun-Li has been getting mentioned, so I thought it be interesting to post this
There was a post in 2018 from xenother , the guy who talked to Vergeben. He said that Chun-Li was scrapped due to moveset reasons and never made it to the Development phase
[SPOILER ALERT] - The Sevens Squares. - A Square-Enix general support threads. | Page 77 | Smashboards
Though this guy did say no Banjo, so eh. Perhaps he heard Steve a whole bunch and assumed no Steve and Banjo and Same pass, but interesting post to look back on. Don't think it's real right now, yes
Well with Tom Nook and K. K. Slider being the only other two major characters in the series (at least, they seem to be), I'm sure the next one will break the mold. Neither of them would be able to follow the daily task shtick all that closely, and they have interesting things that they do beyond that. It's kinda difficult, but one potential way to start would be to replace the Lloid Rocket with something else. That's been done twice already, and there's not much new stuff one can do with that. While finding another AC item might be difficult on the surface... I'm pretty sure that the different AC characters are associated with something that could be translated to Smash and not look out of place.
Another potential area one could focus on would be the aerials, if one wanted to give the new AC character its own identity. One could leave at least some of the grounded normals relatively unchanged.
I'm speaking as someone who's not played an Animal Crossing game, by the by.
It's astonishing how normal an idea that is.Maybe he throws his nephews at you, lol.
