That depends - they might release two amiibos at once instead of three, or some characters might have unique alternate costumes like Cloud, Bayonetta, or Hero. (if Terry is announced, I could see him having his normal outfit and his Garou: Mark of the Wolves outfit)

PAC-MAN is the face of Namco and Arcade culture and the most iconic pre- Mario videogame character, so the real question is why would he NOT be deserving?

No they don't. Only the KoF games even have teams, and most of those don't have tagging. Fatal Fury, Samurai Shodown, Art of Fighting...none of those series have teams.

You know, we've gotten to a pretty funny place in Smash speculation where people think characters are the same just because they punch or wield a sword. Really sorry for any fans of gun wielders if Doomguy or Leon/Jill gets in.

All I gotta say is if you're not interested in people punching maybe fighting games aren't for you.

the point that many people are trying to convey is that smash is a game where punching and kicking isn't the only means of dealing damage when in most FGs it is. So when people see the potential of a character to do bold new things ignored and denied, they tend to get a little upset.

Pac-Man is literally one of the most iconic characters in gaming, you're out of your mind if you think four blocks in a random order compares.

As you clearly know a lot about KoF, I'm sure you won't mind explain which of his moves are identical to the Hadouken, Shoryuken, Tatsumaki and Focus Attack and why those are the obvious choices.

Plenty more things wrong there but let's start with that.

nowhere did I state that their moves were identical. If you actually read my post, you'd know that. I'm not exactly sure how I could even explain anything to you when you're already skewing my argument into something completely different.

I have been hoping that banjo and kazooie have some sort of collecting mechanic, where they can grab different types of eggs to change up what eggs are used, and if they geab red feathers, their up B changes from the spring jump to a fly plus that dive bomb attack.

As for the direct, a rare reply or just the original 2 games downloadable would be great, more wii u ports like xenoblade and tokyo mirage sessions and wonderful 101 would be great. A new dkc game with the kremlings back, and the second stage evos for pokemon

I suppose in the sense that they're both blond martial artists with ki attacks, sure.

But that was specifically NOT the point I was making. I said they had different moves. And then he posted a video of them...not using the same moves as each other. So...*shrug*

Only being satisfied by one specific character in all of video games actually makes you extremely hard to please.

I really do hope we get something similar to the Hero reveal and we get surprised by more than one fighter. I know we won't just because the potential characters have too varied a moveset, but a 3 in 1 character would be an excellent surprise at this point, and might help some of the people salty about a character who on paper represents something very similar Ryu and Ken (probably also doesn't help the director of Street Fighter 1 also did Fatal Fury).

I think this goes back to Yezen's point that people who are already fans of Terry would be excited for him since they already know his backstory and have grown attachment to him. But people that don't know him don't know his backstory and only see a boring and generic-looking fighter being added to Smash.

After actually watching some King of Fighters gameplay I'm pretty convinced that if Sakurai values unique movesets, the KoF rep might actually be like Pokemon Trainer but every match basically turns into squad strike. Someone had already mentioned that elsewhere, but I wasn't convinced until seeing that what sets the series apart is the fact that it's a team fighter without the "team".

If it is indeed Terry, I'm fairly certain he's going to be received very similarly to Corrin. A bunch of people saying "Great another one" when the people who actually hold loyalty to the character understand the differences and really make them their own thing.

I also think it sort of demeans Terry to compare him to Ryu/Ken and complain about him being so similar when we already have something like the Star Fox and Fire Emblem series of characters who largely borrow from each other and (at least in StarFox's case) are still treated as fundamentally different from one another. Terry being a punchboi isn;t all there is to him, there's a lot of character and history there. Hell they could skip Terry altogether and just have Rock Howard

Even as a KOF fan, I understand that sometimes concessions have to be made to represent a character in spirit , so a Pokemon Trainer-esque SNK TEAM would be AWESOME. Terry, Kyo, and Nakoruru or Mai or Athena perhaps.

I've seen it suggested that Terry could bring a super meter gimmick to smash, which would be enough to make him stand out from Ryu IMO.

I'll hold out until I see him in action before finalizing any thoughts on Terry; just because I can't see much to make him stand out doesn't mean it isn't there and Sakurai hasn't tapped into it.

Is the rumor saying spiderman because if so thats probably not happening. Other then that i think this is cool news. Shame though again they are ignoring some key jrpgs, like the disgaea series. I did enjoy the original though and it had potential. Hopefully this one, if it happens, is better

This is like saying Guile and Ken are the same thing just because they have similar options. I don't think it's really fair to call Terry and Ken the same character just because both are martial arts practitioners with energy attacks and a similar color-scheme. This board hasn't forgotten about people calling Hero "another anime swordie" despite how unique he became?

Have faith in Sakurai and the team, they always make the new characters interesting

If people would stop trying to make arguments for why a character shouldn't be in smash, they could actually be honest about how they dont like a character to be in smash, and then people can talk openly about there being different sides to this without having to argue about it.

It's ok not to like terry.
It's also ok not to think it's a good choice for the pass at this point too.
