I'm more or less just playing devil's advocate here. Geno isn't a character I particularly care for, but I don't really feel strongly about him one way or another.

However, we have precedence for how Square costumes tend to be handled, and in all previous 7 packs, the only time that we've gotten Square costumes, are with Square characters. Konami? SEGA? Capcom? Namco? They come with whoever they want, but Square? Exclusive.

If Geno does not show up on the 17th, then "They just didn't get the rights to it" seems extremely dismissive of a stance to take, and to me at least, especially if we see the return of the Chocobo hat, which is probably happening, would raise several red flags.

However, I 'do' believe that Geno will be the PreMiium costume, and if he is, I truly hope he comes with the Forest Maze song.

If they don't reveal Geno's Mii Costume, and FP2 ends, then people are going to wait for Geno for a long time.

I just don't see new DLC after FP2, for at least a very long time.

To be honest, I don't feel like there's many scenarios where the SE Mii costumes drastically change my predictions. If Geno returns, he's probably done. If he doesn't, well, that doesn't really change much for me because they could easily toss it in another bundle. That's a possibility if they go with nothing but FF costumes like they did with DQ.

Personally though, I'm predicting that it'll return and it'll be completely unchanged from Smash 4, just like every returning costume before it.

That's the best case scenario, costume's shown, boom, done and over with. But if it's not? Sure, it 'could' show up in a different one(Despite Square having no current precedence to do so), but the issue is we more or less stagnate, in that 'nothing changes'. Until the costume shows up, we're more or less still exactly where we were, just with Sephiroth in the mix. We'll have people talking how Cacomallow wasn't deconfirmed, how Geno has a chance, etc. The best case scenario, for our sakes(and sanity), is for the costume to show up the 17th, but there is more than a 0% chance of looming dread if it doesn't.

Yeah Chun-Li is really being sleeped on considering that whenever there is a SF crossover, she is usually included alongside Ryu.

I'm not exactly expecting her but considering her status as "Miss Fighting Game" i guess she would a pretty big deal.

Her inputs would be a nightmare. Isnt she a charge character? I have to check her SFII moveset
Only Kikoken (her projectile) and Spinning Bird Kick are charge inputs, though the former might be extremely complicated in Smash outside of 1v1s since Chunners would just... turn around when "charging"

I would say there is a possiblity of one more bonus character with no stage dropping after the final pass it’s weird that piranha plant is the only one so far

That's not really when when there's more than enough data to suggest that Plant was being worked on alongside the base game, be it the fact it leaked in August(?) alongside Incineroar, the fact it's the only DLC character to have a Palutena's Guidance, etc.

Plant feels like it was very much meant to be the game's "Surprise" character ala GW/ROB/Duck Hunt but didn't meet the holiday deadline.

Another Corrin situation could possibly happen

Sure, it could, but we're dealing with hypotheticals here, for all we know, during the last presentation Sakurai may say "One more pass".

However, I feel like it's better to deal with things we can know for certainty than things we cannot. Yes, a bonus character could theoretically happen. Two could, or three, or even four. But we have no way of proving that, and we'd just be talking about it non-stop in a never ending loop for ages, when it's better to play with the cards that have been dealt instead.

Sakurai isn't the kind to relegate something to DLC if it didn't have the time to make it into the base game. The scrapped content for Smash 4 never making it as post-release DLC proves it.

I think Plant was always meant to be DLC, but was decided long before the first Pass' lineup was settled on, which would explain a lot; he was decided on early enough to be worked on while base game was worked on, thus giving us footage on pre-release and giving the voice actors time to make a Guidance while the other ones are also being recorded.

I've said it before but the bonus character for FP2 is CP11.
Why do you think that?

It would be kind of a rip-off, as each slot was promised to have music, spirits, and stages too.

I think N3ON is essentially saying that Pass 2 having one more character than the first Pass makes Fighter 11 a "bonus" in and of itself.

Just because the pack is one size larger than the last pass doesn't mean that it's still a bonus, though. A bonus would be an FP12.

Regardless if it was meant to be DLC intentionally or not, that doesn't discredit my point.

I feel like it's kiiiiiinda silly to be speculating about hypothetical bonus characters when we still have 3 unknown characters, and Sakurai has flat out said "FP2 is it."

Now, do I really believe FP2 'is it'?.... I'll 100% believe it when he says it during the FP10 or 11 presentation, but as of now, I feel like we shouldn't be looking THAT far ahead when we currently have unknowns right before us.

Those two unrelated posts are clumped together because I have the exact same thing to say to them.

I completely agree.

Being a bonus character doesn't preclude coming with that content. That's a faulty preconception.

Being a bonus character is a character offered additionally. You now have an extra character in this pass that the previous one lacked. No one would've given it a second thought if FP2 had the same amount of fighters as the first. Meanwhile, throwing it out there solo at the end, when there are fewer people than two years prior when the pass first went up, is a lot less likely and a lot less savvy than having it upfront as part of the package.

Agree with N3ON on this one. Just looking over the Byleth presentation and they do make a big deal how this pass has "One more than last time".

The absence of a major character in smash series in ultimate is pretty much the only reason why I could see a possiblity of another bonus fighter
The character I am talking about is Porky I still question it to this day

It's a picture commemorating Monolith Soft's whole legacy as a 20th anniversary celebration - it's not solely Xeno. KOS-MOS is there because Monolith Soft was literally founded to continue making Xeno games, so excluding Xenosaga from the games being commemorated would be odd. Xenogears isn't there because Monolith Soft didn't make it.

Although if we're saying it's a Xeno picture, Raymond Bryce here is the PERFECT Xeno rep. For his neutral special, he uses a gun. And his eating animation is to die for:
God, what a charming little game. Hopefully Takahashi manages to convince Nintendo to let other Monolith employees work on their own separate projects like he said he was trying to do.

We've been over this, he's been in the game day 1 in the Absolutely Safe Capsule

Saying FP11 is a bonus isn't wrong because Pass 1 literally has one more slot than Pass 1.

What I disagree with is comparing it with how Plant was a "bonus DLC" because he wasn't part of any Pass.

Fighter 11 is a bonus, but not a "bonus", if that makes sense.

Honestly, a FP3 isn't happening at all.

Like, 12 DLC characters is a LOT of DLC characters. In comparison, Smash 4 only had half that number, and half of them were returning veterans.

Sakurai put in tremendous effort in the pass, I think the group is likely going to be done.

Plus, Ultimate isn't a brand new game anymore. Its player base is still massive, but it was not the same when Ultimate was brand new.

Sakurai did make it clear that there would be no more DLC after FP2, and I never heard Sakurai say this during FP1.

Duon, Rayquaza, Tabuu and the Master Core forms all didn't return either. I do find the lack of a stand-alone Porky spirit odd, but a lot of bosses got cut, and Petey's only back as a Final Smash, not an actual bossfight.

A third year of support isn't uncommon for a fighting game these days, so to say we won't get a third pass because Ultimate is "not a brand new game anymore" isn't really a strong argument. Hell, Street Fighter V is still getting content this year and the next despite being a 2016 game.

Ultimately (pun intented), the decision belongs to Sakurai and his team, not the game's age.

Also, he never said FP2 would be the definitive finale, just that there were currently no plans beyond it at the time he's made statements about it, which means it could really go either way.

However, for the same of speculation being sane, we should assume FP2 is the end until proof of the contrary since Sakurai has yet to say he got new plans.

Hey so what’s this about a Sephiroth-Crash-KOS-MOS-Reimu leak I’m hearing about? Friend told me about it the other day

5ch leak that 'predicted' them a day or 2 after Steve was revealed.

Really not terribly interesting of a leak, since that's basically all it did. "It had Sephiroth on it" isn't really grounds to make it credible.

It's grounds to at least keep it in our minds to see how much more it can get, however.

Just remember to hype and speculate responsibly.

If Reimu or KOS MOS show up next, because I can't really see either of them as E3 reveals/Crash NOT being the E3 reveal, then I'd be impressed, but a text leak calling a single character right is a song and dance that we've seen for years at a time now.

Pretty much, which is why I said "keep it in our minds" rather than "absolutely believe it"

It needs to prove itself further before I could consider it being real, but it did enough for me to not ignore it.

It’s the empty one
Chances are they did that just to not have a shadow on the Spirit. It's literally an injoke about Porky's fate in the capsule and otherwise means nothing. After all, if it actually meant anything, we wouldn't have had to wait more than 2 years for results.

Yeah, I just don't see Square-Enix getting away with three whole DLC characters this game.
People were saying the same thing about FF characters, yet here we are.

I think it's best to leave everything on the table for now until this pass actually ends.

Sephiroth joining just goes to show that anything goes at this rate. There are no rules.
