We'd never get Seraph Lamington before Laharl; Laharl is practically the face of the series.
Say it with me, everyone! For his neutral special, -
The Funny thing is you actually posted a pic with the panels out of order but as people have pointed out before you can literally rearrange these however you want it it still make sense and that’s why Hellboy is a genius Comic.
the amazing thing about the gun-monkey-BLAM scene from Hellboy is that it works no matter how you reorganize the panels pic.twitter.com/xEpxGvJIYR

I think he's the most likely. The fact that we heard rumors about him a year or so ago and now we know that things can take a long time to happen... Hmmm....Hayabusa discussion straight-up vanished into a black hole I guess?
4 seems to be the maximum amount of costumes feasible, though I suppose it would depend on how different they are. My guesses for Dante Alternate Costumes would be either:Sakurai seems to be adding alternate costumes to the DLC characters when he can, so if Dante is in I’d assume he have some. I’d say 3 & 5 at the very least. But depending on how much Sakurai likes DMC, I could see even more.
BOOOOOOOO. GET OFF THE STAGEWe'd never get Seraph Lamington before Laharl; Laharl is practically the face of the series.
Can anyone confirm that Min Min did not have a friend icon prior her inclusion in Smash as a fighter?I have a really stupid Smash theory, that may back up Rex a bit; but maybe I'm overthinking things quite a bit. It's probably been brought up here before, but I don't usually go on here often.
So there are friend icons in things like Arena right? Most of these icons got added in the base game, however each DLC fighter gets their own icon added when they get released. There has been no fighter released, that already had an icon in base game. Though granted the likelihood of them having an icon originally was low anyways (with the exception of Min Min, who also lacked an icon; but I think only the Spring Man render for the AT got one for ARMS). If we go through the list, every fighter, every AT, and a notable list of "exceptions" form the icons.
Friend icon
Friend icons are images depicting characters or symbols which identify players in the online modes of Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Super Smash Bros. 4, and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Some of them are available from the start, while others are unlocked...www.ssbwiki.com
You'll see characters like Bandana Dee, Geno, Dixie Kong, Shantae characters that people WANT in the game as some of these "exceptions" right (though there are a lot of filler characters in there too). But if you scroll down to the Xenoblade section, it's missing Rex. Sure it's also missing Elma, Melia, and the like; but the important thing to note is that it HAS both Pyra and Mythra but no Rex in it. Rex is obviously a character that Sakurai has wanted, and he even got a bonus costume added right towards the end.
So what if the reason there is no Rex in the icons, is because they left it open for a potential season 2? They could then add Rex and use his render as the icon?
Again take this with a huge grain of salt, but I just feel like it's too odd to just be a coincidence (especially with Pyra and Mythra there). The entire thing started out as a really stupid idea, but maybe there's a chance that this backs him up a bit.
I created that idea and as far as I know no DLC fighter already had an icon so far. But to be fair, Min Min is really the only fighter that would have made sense to really have an icon already. Now still take it with a HUGE grain of salt though, I don't want to get anyones hopes too high. Just a super odd coincidence that could point to Rex. We have characters like Dixie, pretty much every major Zelda request (barring Impa), Marx, Bandana Dee, Geno, ; so I found it strange that XC 2 doesn't have Rex on there (but they do have Pyra and Mythra). Was this discussed regarding Rex?

I mean... we JUST got Steve announced, and they put more effort into him than most game developers put into entire GAMES. I'm sure Sakurai would at least consider trying to make Laharl work. The best way Disgaea could work is a Spirit Event, some event where getting hit does 1000% damage or something crazy.
The series is honestly too over the top for Smash to accurately make it a playable character. I mean what is Laharl even going to do with his basic attacks? Wield a giant Sword that makes Byleth's Lance look tame? Drop giant meteors on his opponents? You can't accurately translate Disgaea without being super over the top, and the only way to really balance it in that case would be if Laharl is stupidly OP.
That said imagining this in Smash sounds like fun, shame it has no chance of happening.

Steve was in the works a long time in advance, so eh, maybe they decided to not do it just in case they got a chance to revisit upon the idea in the future. There are still some other missing characters that would have made sense to be icons though, in particular Rayman and Magolor. But neither really got as much as a push as Rex did in base, and Rayman is 3rd party anyways.
Disgaea is the kinda game where dealing a tons of damage on a basic attack is the norm. The series identity is built on super over the top stuff like that (not to mention the animations for even most of the simpler attacks), sure they could probably make Laharl work; but I cannot really think of a "balanced" way to do it, without deviating from the series core. And if Sakurai was a fan of Disgaea I think the last thing he would want to do would be get rid of what the series is most well known for (it's super over the topness).I mean... we JUST got Steve announced, and they put more effort into him than most game developers put into entire GAMES. I'm sure Sakurai would at least consider trying to make Laharl work.

Didn't know that. If Devil Trigger requires a different look for each skin, then we'd most likely be looking at a maximum of 1 Alternate Costume. It would still technically be 4 skins, but 2 of them are tied to the two you see on the character select screen.I'd also like to mention that Dante's skins aren't as easy as other skins. Remember, one of the most defining traits of the Devil May Cry combat system is the Devil Trigger, a transformation which changes his physical appearance to that of a demon's. That means that for every alternate costume that Dante has, you also have to create an alternate devil trigger form depending on which version of Dante you're using.
While I'd like to see all the DMCs represented, I'm thinking they might just pick one or 2 and run with that design.
The monkey's paw curlsI will say that I think people are too quick to dismiss Lloyd and a Zelda newcomer.
I'm biased towards Lloyd, but I still think he has a great shot. My gut is just telling me a Zelda newcomer.
I'd prefer it'd be Impa but I don't know if it'd be her.
Who do you think it would be?I'd prefer it'd be Impa but I don't know if it'd be her.
This but UnironicallyThe monkey's paw curls
Wish granted
You will get a new Zelda rep
And she will be a Koei Techmo rep too

If we're going with our guts with speculation now, then I've got indigestion. I've given up on expecting who's next and am now accepting of anyone and everyone. My gut is just telling me a Zelda newcomer.
Hell, I'd take Lana as a "Nintendo Warriors" rep. Just give us those sweet tunes. The monkey's paw curls

Part of me wonders if it could be some character from BotW2, but I'm leaning towards someone from BotW1. I also think a fan favorite like Skull Kid or Midna is possible even if they're ATs.Who do you think it would be?
I'd be OK with this, wouldn't be any different than the tons of people asking for Waluigi and Geno in terms of spin off exclusive characters. Not insulting either of those characters by the way, I genuinely like Lana. The monkey's paw curls

The real ****show would be then her getting in and not Waluigi or Geno.I'd be OK with this, wouldn't be any different than the tons of people asking for Waluigi and Geno in terms of spin off exclusive characters. Not insulting either of those characters by the way, I genuinely like Lana.
Tbf there’s not a lot to discuss with him rn. Steve rumors finally panning out definitely gives Hayabusa rumors some potential, buuuut they’re still old rumors that have been talked about before.Hayabusa discussion straight-up vanished into a black hole I guess?
I mean, they did it for Kunio.I'm pretty sure this was mentioned in this thread by someone else recently, but I'd love to see spirits that represent the iconic, classic arcade-era of gaming. Not sure how possible it'd be, probably unlikely at this point, but I believe spirits for these characters are worthy of being memorialized in gaming's biggest crossover.
Generally speaking, you can make it all the way through the main plot without doing any of the stupidly OP stuff. You can't accurately translate Disgaea without being super over the top, and the only way to really balance it in that case would be if Laharl is stupidly OP.
Bomberman is the one who would have got music, since he got the deluxe costume. And it would have been this:The lack of No More Heroes music gives me the big sad but at least Travis is here in some capacity
When it comes to a Tales rep, it's really between Lloyd and Yuri and both would be great. I'm just more inclined for Yuri because I actually played through his game compared to Symphonia and he's one of my top favourite main characters of all time.I will say that I think people are too quick to dismiss Lloyd and a Zelda newcomer.
I'm biased towards Lloyd, but I still think he has a great shot.
One one hand, yes, the series is about items. That's why we have so many Zelda items. On the topic of Zelda, "the series is about items" is still one of the dumbest takes against a new Zelda character, moreso now than ever as people are getting excited about seeing the champions and other NPCs in their full glory in Age of Calamity.
Does that include Geno?【

SP pic.twitter.com/SpSOvtDdwq
Spirits with guns have a higher chance of showing up.
It's basically the successor to "Metroid is about isolation, so that's why it only has Samus". And look how that turned out.On the topic of Zelda, "the series is about items" is still one of the dumbest takes against a new Zelda character, moreso now than ever as people are getting excited about seeing the champions and other NPCs in their full glory in Age of Calamity.
Fan made rules are stupid.Something I was wondering was, if a Mii Costume appears from a certain company, could that lessen the chances of getting a character from said company?
For instance, we received a detailed Bomberman costume. Could than deconfirm an additional Konami character, since Bomberman could have been saved for said Konami character?
I don't think Zelda is repped badly overall, just on the roster. That said I do think that people exaggerate how bad Zelda's representation is and it seems like some like to just sweep all nonplayable Zelda representation under the rug to make their point, pretending that there aren't people out in the world that might like said content or forgetting that Sakurai and co. probably had to put alot of time and effort into the nonplayable representation.
I guess it comes from the belief of something like "you can't have one with the other" but really, even in Ultimate, getting a new character practically guaranteed that that series would be getting plenty of new content, both playable and non-playable.One one hand, yes, the series is about items. That's why we have so many Zelda items.
On the other, I fail to see how this is a knock against a fighter. Since when are fighters and items mutually exclusive?
Imagine if we got this though:Bomberman is the one who would have got music, since he got the deluxe costume. And it would have been this:
