I mean, Wario and Yoshi get their own series logos. Donkey Kong as well, but that's more understandable. Honestly surprised that Luigi's Mansion hasn't gotten its own series logo, but that's probably because Luigi was playable before that subseries came out.
So Persona and SMT being considered different series isn't too surprising.

Yoshi debuted when he had his own game, while Luigi didn't. Same with Wario. It was circumstancial timing. If WarioWare wasn't a thing yet, Wario would just be a Super Mario character or be Wario Land possibly(but most likely Super Mario since he didn't have a unique sub-series at the time of adding him). WarioWare also heavily influenced Wario's moveset, which plays a pretty big role in that regard.

Atlus has MegaTen as the universe. Shin Megami Tensei and Persona are separate series within the same universe. Think of it akin to Spider-Man and Thor. Clearly connected, but also very separated too.

Anyways, before I go back to lowercase posting again, Nintendo shared another statement on how they've been impacted by the Pandemic. This article has both their original statement a couple weeks back alongside the new one, which reads as such:

Development schedules may be impacted due to the difference in development environment between working from home and in the office since teleworking is implemented at the Company and its partners. As a result, we may not be able to proceed with the release of Nintendo products and the start of services as planned.

Essentially, the Marketing Department's not the only part of Nintendo getting hit hard. We might be seeing some real delays starting soon, so gear up everyone.

The Wii U ports are kinda overstated I would say though, last one we got was Tokyo Mirage Sessons back in January and the one before that was New Super Mario Bros Deluxe which was a full year prior.

Yeah, it is overstated, especially now, and I don't mind if we keep getting Wii U ports despite having a Wii U lol

I haven't had the best luck with it, whether it's delays or incompetence on the retailers end. Eventually I just realized there wasn't any point in pre-ordering because there's little chance that any game will completely sell out at every store in my area.

Mine is less about places running out, aside from Special Editions, and more about getting them in a quick enough way since I don't tend to have time to drive somewhere like GameStop or Best Buy or whatever..along with never quite knowing what games will and won't be sold in-store for the Wal-Mart I work at..for example, Mega Man X Legacy Collection 1&2 and Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster for Switch weren't sold in-store, but Mega Man Zero/ZX Legacy Collection and Final Fantasy XII: Zodiac Age for Switch were.

To reply late, ARMs has one game where they barely decided what they wanted to do, so any future sequel will dictate what it goes "face" wise, any original intent is irrelevant since it wasnt followed through. The same happened (in different ways) to a bunch of different fighting game franchises, Ryu is a massive exception almost... which I had already said but I guess people may only like reading 1/2 lines per post. Anyway trying to use his now obsolete intended role is thus irrelevant, specially if it needs to include ignoring Sakurai's own statements on the matter. If real proper data is ignored for the sake of bias (as in "oh he may have said that but I dont think so and I was wrongly predicting something else before") it just becomes flat earth-isms specially since its only used to defend "rules" that dont exist.

On other subjects, the SMT remake looks great and I could see its content in smash this pass.

Well, not THE big year per se, but a big year. 2017 was the Switch's big launch, 2018 was pretty much carried by SSBU hype, 2019 had a lot of great titles in rapid succession. 2020 was probably going to be a weaker year regardless so there's probably a lot coming up next year. At the very least, we know about SMTV, Walmart says Bayonetta 3 is coming January 6th, and BotW 2 is probably coming then as well if we're following the Switch's Zelda patterns.

Honestly, that's a good question. To which I respond:

Nintendo doesn't say how significantly they were impacted, and it's unknown how the shift to telework has impacted their deadlines and such. I lean towards pessimism personally and say we see delays into next year.

It's clear Nintendo was unprepared to shift to telework, which has caused large reverberations within the company. Right now we're seeing the dominos fall one by one as not only dedicated Directs are seemingly canceled, but now we'll likely be seeing significant delays with Nintendo games and services. At this point all we can do is wait and see what falls next.

At the very least, whatever mess is going on over at Nintendo is going to take a good long while to clean up.

It was pretty obvious they weren't being upfront when you consider that we're in a time with literally no dated first-party games. Other than a physical copy of Cadence of Hyrule, I guess. But that game has already released normally anyway.

They've clearly pushed back titles that would be out already or soon so they can be used as replacements for other, potentially bigger titles this holiday and afterwards which have run into setbacks in development thanks to the virus situation.

I just hope that one silver lining that can come of this is Nintendo embraces modernization more willingly after this is all said and done. Their extremely traditional, perhaps even antiquated ways of conducting business and staunch reluctance to contemporize was going to catch up with them eventually, one way or another.
