Yeah but "gritty" implies like some sort of rough texture like dirt or wrinkles or something.

Minecraft I feel is relatively smooth and clean.

I don't know I found the rough textures to be charming in their own way. I'm not sure if gritty is the true proper word to describe it but I get what you mean. Though that does make me wonder if a Smash interpretation of Steve would use the cover art or the in-game look of Minecraft. The cover art is more smoother looking compared to the in-game model.

Pretty much. If people are worried he doesn't fit in cause of the aesthetic, he has literally an official render that does fit more.

So either way, it's workable~

Besides, that entire arc was handled poorly anyway. The issue wasn't he preferred to be submissive, as he's never shown any particular bedside personality in the show anyway before that. The issue is that the "reveal" of the true nature of the characters was completely shoehorned in with almost zero logic to it. Like, all it was there for is to show his faith in humanity may be somewhat misplaced. Same thing happened to Trevor/Sypha and Isaac. Except those arcs were written with actual characterization buildup, so the Village Leader's reveal didn't come completely out of nowhere.

I think they would use a mix of both since the cover art version fits in more with smash but the in game version is more iconic

Finally, one that isn't all characters I support! I couldn't even choose 3 out of the other ones.

I'll go with Crash, Master Chief and Lara, the biggest icons I'd say. Runners-up would be Spyro, Tracer, Scorpion and Shovel Knight.

If Steve gets in at some point, there's a good chance he'll have some kind of crazy mining/crafting/building mechanic. I'd be really curious to see how they would implement that part in Smash. It could be as simple as creating obstacles a bit like Villager tree or Pac-Man hydrant. It could also be more complex with a small inventory and crafting etc. idk, just some food for thought i guess.

A Fortnite character could also potentially bring something like that (the mining/building part i mean).

I guess what they meant is that with the creators of Bloodstained having full ownership of the license there would be no limit to the amount of songs they could add to the game.

Basically meaning they could add 50 songs if they wanted to.

But yeah, the franchise could still get in easily even if It was owned by Konami.

I’m surprised Bloodstained hasn’t had a spirit event yet, I feel like its release on the Switch was one of the bigger promotions at the time featured in Directs and stuff.

Still waiting on that Undertale spirit event though after Cuphead got one.

While Animal Crossing's not been exactly banned in China, it's been de-listed from Taobao (Chinese eBay) and many other big Chinese sites. This is partly because New Horizons got very popular there recently, to the point where even the Shanghai Fire Dept. used it to warn about fires (aka. it caught the eye of regulators) and partly due to user generated content (aka. regulators didn't like the game being used by Hong Kong protesters). User generated content will always be an issue in China because the government wants to be able to control platforms strictly.

That said, the game still operates normally. Also, it's still possible to buy New Horizons there via:

1. Mom & Pop stores
2. eShop via switching region
3. Contact a Taobao seller privately and in most cases they will still sell you the game under the counter.

A future Animal Crossing release is still possible since Minecraft's officially released there (and Minecraft's extremely popular in China at that). A Chinese version of Minecraft was able to be approved and released because it is controlled by NetEase (gaming company about as big as Spotify) who can monitor user generated content in game. Nintendo's partner in China, Tencent, is about as big as Facebook. Tencent will most likely be asked to control AC content in China if it sees official release there.

So yeah, still really crappy situation.

Never said I didn't want him, just said I wasn't feeling him. I already had a hunch that the reason he wasn't added as a character over Simon/Richter was the show -- the most widespread version of him currently is the main character of an incredibly gory TV series, rather than the games. The climax (pun intended) of his arc in season 3 pretty much ruined his chances for me, as now Castlevania is just that much less suited for Good Boys and Girls™ .

also I think it's inconsistent with his character being a stoic mf'er who's willing to kill his own father in the name of what's right. I have no idea why they decided that arc (which should have gone on longer anyway) needed to end with a threesome with what I think are siblings. Crying after killing his father I can get, but crying while getting a blowie? smh

The only push ARMS has received in the last two years or so...is getting into Smash. The last DLC for that game came out in 2017.

Treasure Tracker was getting new DLC as recently as last year.

That's not true. They've been holding Party Crashes since June of last year, and they've also had at least one Global Testpunch every year since 2017. There was a long gap after the last Party Crash, but it's never truly stopped being promoted since it was released.

Compare that to Treasure Tracker, which was released a year later (July 2018). The last notable update was in March 2019 where they added seventeen more levels. After that, the only other thing they've done is add Labo VR support for four levels back in July 2019.

Not saying Captain Toad didn't get any promotion, but compared to other Switch titles in the past three years, it's nothing crazy.

I disagree. Symphony of the Night still remains as one of the most, if not the most, popular Castlevania game of all time. I don't think the show had any impact at Alucard's chances and I don't think it ever will. A non-canon spin-off will never affect the original source material (in this case it's the games) and replace it. Sakurai already explained the reasoning for why Simon was chosen instead of Alucard so that kind of goes against your narrative. Simon was chosen because the vampire killer is the most iconic weapon in the series and Sakurai saw that a playable belmont as more suitable to represent Castlevania. The fact that Alucard was in strong consideration for a playable slot means there was no problem with making him playable from either Konami or Nintendo.
