I wouldn't be very pleased. Only for the fact there's no first party newcomer amongst them. Monster Hunter is a good choice though. 2B seems cool but have no connection with her. Rex is, a weird one but I'd take it. The others I could do without.

I might be victim to common fan speculation but I feel getting those characters would be plenty surprising, given Nier Automata still isn't on Switch, Monster Hunter got base game content with no character and Rex got consolation Mii costumed.

I don't think a game being or not being on the Switch really affects a character's chances, we got Joker and Banjo in the last Pass, and before them we've gotten the likes of Cloud and Snake during times where they didn't feature on Nintendo's relevant console.

While I don't find 2B, Monster Hunter, Rex or Sora very likely atm, they've all been discussed extensively in the Smash speculation community, and in the cases of Monster Hunter and Rex they've at least been considered very likely at some point. Them getting in wouldn't exactly be out of left field, it'd just mean that I and several others were wrong about their chances, which isn't a particularly big shock tbh. Surprising characters are the likes of Joker and Terry, the ones who are not just considered unlikely, but have barely even been discussed or seriously considered.

Everyone talks about Waluigi, Isaac and Shadow etc. But honestly Bomberman got the biggest screw over out of any Assist Trophy as he was one of the more Iconic/Significant character/franchises during the NES era, He was "Kind" of up there with Mario, Pac Man, Mega Man and Sonic. Hell Nintendo published "Bomberman 64 and Hero" on the N64 and Really seemed like shoe in with the recent launch of "Super Bomberman R" on Switch as a timed exclusive to reboot the franchise.

I wondered if Konami owning the property played a role into rather having Belmont join alongside Snake coming back as "Enough" for the roster to have Bomberman as a side character.

I honestly think Bomberman's chances would have been higher had "Hudson Soft" (Original Company Mascot) still had the rights and had not been absorbed into Konami for financial reasons, Probably would have stood out more as the "Hudson Soft" mascot than be overshadowed as a smaller franchise in comparison to Konami's Metal Gear Solid (Snake) and Castlevania's (Belmonts).

That's a god-tier roster, but then again if you take the top six characters of any poll of course it's gonna be a god-tier roster.

This is the same Disney that blocked Capcom from having Capcom characters beat up Marvel characters in MVC Infinite promotional material and pretty much prevented X-Men and Fantastic Four from appearing in the game despite the franchise literally starting with Children of the Atom and X-Men vs Street Fighter (along with doing a bunch of stupid stuff with the comics in general) solely because they were mad Fox still owned the film rights. They are indeed that petty about this stuff.

That was Ike Perlmutter, not Disney, not even Marvel.

You get your ideal fighter pass, but 3 of the characters are so god-awful stanky bad that they're totally unviable at all but the lowest levels of play, and the other 3 are so good that they break the competetive scene at Brawl MK levels.

PHENOMENAL COSMIC POWER!!!

Amaterasu - Pauses time when using the Celestial Brush, slow down time, on her own, also heavy attacks from her glaive are quick and have little start, and endlag, her Rosary's whip, and bullet attacks can hit from any range, and her disk can bounce projectiles back to fighters if they hit her disk while she's attacking.

Shantae - Monkey form: very small hitbox, light damage, but no endlag on moves, can auto Dodge occasionally.
Elephant form: all moves have Super Armor, and character is extremely heavy, hard to knock off stage.
Harpy form: Can jump up to ten times.
Super Mega Puff: Near everlasting lightning at nearly any range. Can you say, UNLIMITED POWER!

Sora - Using reaction commands to turn opponents strengths and specials against them in creative ways, stopping time, and activating reality shift to alter the stage, and even characters for a short time.
Using flowmotion to infinitely chase after Fighters. Manipulate gravity like Arceus does, making fighters off stage drop like a stone

Itty bitty living space...

Sakura - She a quick, and strong fighter, however, her clumsy personality bleeds into Smash, bringing back the accursed tripping mechanic we all know and loathe at a whopping 50-70% rate.

Elma - Very quick, but all her moves have incredibly low damage even lower than Sheik's.

2B - Self detonates when she takes to much damage (%100) fighters can easily avoid the explosion.

Rex & Pyra. Yes I want my anime waifu to break the game and everybody salty.

I'd be bummed that my top pick didn't make it, but with Sora, 2B, and Rex in, I'd quickly get over it. Dante, and Monster Hunter are okay, but personally I wished we got Spyro Instead of Crash.

Crash has historical popularity in Japan on his side (Naughty Dog's games were massive commercial successes there during the PS1 era), and Steve has contemporary popularity (Minecraft is the highest selling third party game on Switch in Japan I believe). That's why they stand out the most out of potential western characters to me.

We should stop using Smash polls. People use them way too much to indicate who's getting in when they rarely tell who does. Out of all the DLC, the only character who made it in that was consistently topping polls was Banjo & Kazooie.

They really are not important and I'm shocked we humored this as much as we did. Considering how if we used a poll to talk about Geno or whatever, we'd all be throwing it the **** away.

No one really in the Japanese smash speculation scenes knew they were having a poll so I think those votes are mostly coming from the subscribers of that news site.

Wow, Bandana Dee was really popular in the old poll and still top ten in the new one.
It’s almost as if... the Kirby series itself is super popular in Japan or something.

I’d be disappointed that Bandana Dee missed out by being number seven, but those other guys would make there fans happy and I’l somewhat be at peace knowing that Rex made it, proving that we where wrong about Spirits/Mii Costumes deconfirming.

It would be Season 1 all over again as Banjo-Kazooie stuck out from the rest of the fighter pass, This time it being Crash Bandicoot for Season 2.

I can totally see another scenario again where Season 2 is heavily Japanese influenced and Nintendo/Sakurai tosses the Western audience a bone (A big juicy one) of a big name popular western character and Crash Bandicoot would definitely fit that category and makes a ton of sense and as a bonus would have Japanese appeal too.

Banjo-Kazooie is the only character I bought for Season 1 as the rest of the pass didn't do anything for me (Joker & Terry were kind of cool though), But as Banjo-Kazooie was my most wanted newcomer, It worked out in the end for me personally regardless of the other fighters.

The Japanese fan poll for Season 2 is the same scenario for me, Crash Bandicoot is currently now my most wanted newcomer and the only one I care about on that list as the rest of the pass mentioned I have no interest in any of the characters, So if I had to sacrifice 4/5 roster slots in exchange for a fighter I really wanted than I guess I wouldn't mind as the trade off seems worth it.

Meh. The only one of those that does anything for me is Crash, but I know it would make a lot of other people happy. It would bug me that Capcom and Square-Enix got 2 characters and poor Namco Bandai is still stuck with one though. Personally, I prefer the line-up of FP1, but I think I'd be in the minority with that opinion.
