Verge is still quite credible as is. Keeping an eye on his words makes sense. That's not the same as relying on him. But it's sure as hell better than nothing or theories people make up. At least he has good track record. Sabi's still been worse, having almost nothing to even call "right" in comparison. Verge also has gotten quite a lot right about Smash, and there's only two cases at best where he was wrong; SE character being first DLC, and the Minecraft bit(Minecraft bit has already been outed as leakbait by multiple people, even members of this community). So he legitimately got the timing of one thing wrong, but still knew Erdrick was coming(which he was right, and he knew this well before anyone else).
I'd say there's a pretty good reason to keep what he says in mind. It also doesn't help he has to suffer going through an inbetween to get to the full source, meaning he can get misleading statements(the actual reason he had to note the misunderstanding of a ton of companies being out. This is also why there's even confusion on Kos-Mos in the first place). He's not reliable for general Nintendo stuff, though. Smash? Very much so. Leaks aren't that black and white either, really.
Also, Dante would be cool, yes.
