I think they would want to hype them up as more than just a costume for non-Mii Fighters.

So maybe, because a tie-in-stage would be too time and resource consuming. A tie in SONG however, I can see it both as a good additional draw, and as a little price booster.

I can see them range from $1,50 to $3 tops, and people will buy them.
Depending on if they’re 1st or 3rd party, and if they’re a Daisy style echo, or a Ken style echo.

The reason why he's deconfirming these three characters in particular is because he's responding to a topic that's a fake leak for the former two.

Meanwhile I’m like “Strider Hiryu would be cool and he’s still in the running”.
The characters Vergeben disconfirmed aren’t surprising, I don’t think Morrigan would make it because of her sexual nature.

I think it's more to do with the fact that she's a C-list character than anything else. Alter her leotard so that it's not defying gravity and she's no more sexy than Bayonetta, especially if you went with the personality she had in the Darkstalkers series where the fact she was a succubus wasn't as played up as it is in Marvel Vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds and onward.

Its not much her appearance its the fact that she's a Succubus, try explaining that to kids but yeah her series is dead and pretty sure Capcom would rather put Dante or another popular character.

As unlikely as see is for this game anyways. She doesn't show as much skin as Mai does. Simply cover her cleavage more or reduce her breast size and she'd be good to go.

Smash never explained Bayonetta will be eaten alive if she doesn't kill enough angels or how Terry is absolutely terrified that Rock will want to kill him for revenge of Geese, etc so it never has to explain ****

No. Echos were only done to save timing and data especially to add characters people had been requesting notably:ultdaisy::ultchrom::ultdarksamus:

Now that were in the DLC Stage there's no need for it as there's all the time to make an unique moveset for any DLC fighter notably Dixie Kong who I'd imagine would come across as an semi-clone.

Then again...considering how her franchise history has been, she's always been a pipe dream for me.

Nah. It seems very clear echoes were made specifically because of Ultimate's base game crunch time. Unique newcomers are more popular and they're the ones who actually cover different series.

Comparing the fan demand for a new Darkstalkers game to BK's is like comparing a slumhouse to a skyscraper. Darkstalkers has been supported by the FGC, while BK have many guardian angels behind their back. Just check at her support thread and see how few content we have, then come back here.

If Sakurai does include Morrigan tho it would be a miracle, but it ain't easy.

Excuse my cycnicism to my most-wanted newcomer but I'm tryna be realistic.

To be fair, Morrigan isn't the most out there Capcom character. She's basically like KOSMOS. Dead series, but keeps showing up in crossover. Probably moreso than KOSMOS if we're being real.

We should also bear in mind that Dragon Quest is a series filled with dark moments like slavery, people constantly getting slaughtered, corpses just lie on the ground in areas, gruesome imagery:

Morrigan's crossover resume is often one of the biggest in Capcom's library.

I wonder if one possible reason why the recent leak speculation has been so vague and only consists of deconfirming characters (besides being a game of telephone and the identity of Fighter 5 being tightly guarded after past leaks) is that the source who does know who FP5 is but isn't comfortable sharing the identity is that they're scared ****less after reading about what's going on with the folks who leaked images from the Pokemon Sword and Shield strategy guide.

Curious tho, what exactly happened? Yeah, the stuff about the Pokemon were leaked but...what did they get in return?

Hell, if you were to ask me, who would you add? The one fans have been clamoring for or the one that has been with your crossovers since day one?

Since this is Smash we are talking about, I would try to opt for the former.
