Well there's one bit of news, Seth is back in Street Fighter with a new look.

I don't much care for it. Female body is fine, but they’re still a big dumb robot with a washing machine stomach. And none of their alt costumes are cool suits.

I do like that they're just straight up Kirby now.

If that is the case, please explain why we have a Rex Mii Costume bundled with the FP.

If that wasn’t the cutoff point for DLC, it really seems like Sakurai would’ve added him as a DLC fighter.

Because Sakurai wasn't interested in adding him as a DLC fighter, but wanted something to appease his fans.

If Sakurai had infinite DLC slots, I'm sure Rex would've been one down the road. However, given that there were only 5 characters available, he probably felt there were options he'd have over Rex.

I've been watching all of these deconfirmations with nothing but glee, because my most wanted has consistently remained standing, and even has a few new points in their favour depending on how you interpret Vergeben's actions and the confusion around KOS-MOS. It's Elma. Which I don't say with absolute certainty, mind you, but rather as me making an educated guess. Which, wouldn't you know it, is what speculation should be.

According to Pushdustin, the "We want to add more new worlds" from the Terry direct was a mistranslation. What Sakurai said was something closer to "We want to expand the world of Smash", so a character doesn't necessarily need to be new to the series. Likewise, Xenoblade was before the cut-off for the base roster, not DLC.

The Smash fandom will be on constant war for a good months over Fighter 5.

Meanwhile, I will be enjoying the X-Men DLC in UA3 and play the games I may get for Christmas from start to finish.

And yes, Reggies statement after Jokers reveal was when he was still the NOA CEO, so I’d still take it seriously.

Its no coincidence that the first four FP characters all have never appeared in a Smash game in any way, shape or form.

I’m pretty sure it’s either kos-mos or master chief for fp5 (if all lists are still considered legit but I’m skeptical since source May be backpeddling after vga)

A new game would be ideal, but I just want to see something that says "hey, we're not abandoning this IP." Probably won't happen which is a shame, but that's just Nintendo.

No, I'd say even the Pokemon are still eligible. The whole point of that Spirit Board was to promote the release of SwSh, and it'd be hard to do that if they waited several months later when the character released.

Aside from that, there's several other reasons why I think they're still in the running. One, we don't have any idea when the post-pass characters were finalized, so for all we know, Sakurai still has an open slot for a Pokemon he hasn't decided on yet. Two, none of the SwSh Pokemon use the same type of artwork as the other Pokemon, despite said artwork existing. Not to mention that they combined a few Pokemon into one Spirit, so they could easily add a separate Spirit of the Pokemon they choose without changing anything. And three, is it really all that surprising that the starters and Legendaries were chosen as Spirits? Those five are the most iconic Pokemon of Gen VIII. Yeah, they could've left them out if they really wanted to, but it would be a bit odd.

Be careful though. Popularity alone doesn't get a Pokemon in Smash. Decidueye and Mimikyu are a testament to that.

Really just depends on what Sakurai's looking for in a moveset, just like any other character.
