Reminds me of when I thought that just because Okami HD was coming onto the Switch August 9, 2018, that it meant Amaterasu, had a better shot than other characters at being reveal on August 8 Nintendo Direct last year.

When Sakurai fights against Pac-Man during the classic run in the Terry demonstration, he says this (in English voice over, I have no clue what he actually says):

"And now PAC-MAN, from 1980. Of course, this character was made by Bandai Namco Studios, but when I talk to their team, I'll call him 'your company's character.' They always come back saying 'oh yeah, our company's character.' I often have these kinds of exchanges with them."

Some people read into this as some kind of tease, but it really doesn't seem important to me.

Yeah, you could read it as tease, but that part was just a joke only works in Japanese. That was actually quite funny made me grin. The translation was correct, but the punch line was lost. I don't know how to explain it either. I think the staffs were laughing in the back at that moment.
Still Bamco rep is highly likely though so if that's the case may be Sakurai was really teasing. If not, that was just a random joke.

It's odd that despite this, most of the BK spirits are imitation Rare CG using models made for Smash rather than Rare's own renders.

I also wonder if Metal Slug was future proofed as well, with the lack of spirits, costumes, and cameos, even though it did get music.

What franchises that are currently in Smash would you like to see get more characters?

I'm gonna ignore the obvious choices (Zelda, Kirby, etc.) and say that I'd really like to see Splatoon and Sonic get more characters. Splatoon because it's been insanely successful, and it's really unique from other Nintendo franchises. Sonic because I feel like it's the second most iconic third-party franchise (only behind Pac-Man) on the roster. Plus, it has several decent options to choose from (Tails, Knuckles, Shadow, Eggman).

Yoshi and Wario, both are underrepresented. (More specifically Wario Land itself.)
The 2nd reps for the Yoshi and Wario series would be Poochy and Shake King.
(Also Pikmin with the Titan Dweevil as a second rep.)

Great question and I agree with Sonic getting another rep (though I find Sonic himself one of the less fun characters in SSBU). Tails has great recognition internationally and there is not a character like him in Smash

Genuine question, do people want KOS-MOS in because they legitimately are a fan of Xenosaga?

I've never played Xenosaga, but she sounds like an interesting Character. A robot that's basically a weaponized Swiss army knife? I like it.

Does anyone remember this was the day were Corrin and Bayonetta are announced as DLC fighters in ssb4 and many people were extremely mad at Corrin because he was the advertisement character.

Yeah I remember that day. It was the day that Corrin (still think Kamui was a better name), one of my most wanted characters got in Smash, and I got a month's worth of salt for free.

Okay I'm probably about to introduce a controversial topic, but how would everyone feel if we got a Fortnite character in smash. Personally I don't want one, but if it does happen, I'll come to accept it eventually. I bring this up because I see some people who are supporters for it.

Not sure about the character, although a building mechanic sounds interesting. But mostly I'd be more hyped for what stage Fortnite comes with.

The reason it took so long for FP5 is because they haven't started development, Sakurai's decided to wait until Capcom Cup last night and FP5 will be Seth from Street Fighter after seeing the positive reaction to their updated look in SFV

Unfortunately, said re-release also never released outside of Japan... Xenosaga is legitimately one of the hardest series for any newcomers to get into given there's just no accessibility from a physical standpoint of playing the games.

One would hope they would do a proper HD remaster/re-release... but I do imagine that's a pretty big undertaking for a series that might not have enough pull for that sort of thing. KOS-MOS seems to have been able to find life outside of Xenosaga, but bringing Xenosaga back to the table requires a big investment in an IP that I'd imagine executives are weary of at best... I hope they do it one day though.

Yeah, though if KOS-MOS managed to make it into Smash Bros, I bet it'd increase interest in her series enough to help it sell and get a remaster..look what it did for Xenoblade and Bayonetta...and especially Fire Emblem in the West.

So with a mountain of salt, the only choices left are Dragonborn, Something from Dynasty Warriors, A Farmer, Steve, Master Chief, Byleth, Kiryu, or Lara Croft.

Most are heavy hitters, but a few of them are characters I feel most people don't care about in the slightest.

EDIT: Someone brought up Under Night In Birth, but Hyde is literally the worst choice they could go with since he's the most basic looking and the most niche of the ArcSystem Works anime swordsmen. I really hope they wouldn't choose him over Sol and Ragna which at least have a chance of escaping the community's fury.

I’ve literally created a scenario where I can never be wrong, which is the exact same thing Verge did for KOS-MOS and Sabi did for TGA. A leaker who backtracks is pretty much doing the exact same thing I did, for they’re also manipulating their statements in ways that ensure that they will never be incorrect.

Vergeben also said in that second post that his source won't give a clear answer on KOS-MOS, and that it's unclear whether or not the newest design of the character is owned by Bandai-Namco or Nintendo. So KOS-MOS probably still has the highest chance, depending on if the information he provided about ownership of specific character designs is correct.
