Guys, I need some help
I’m making my most likely roster but there’s 2 switchable characters and I can’t decide who to choose:
Dante or Phoinex Wright?
Shantae or Isaac?
I’m considering keeping both Shantae and Isaac for the 3rd fighters pass but I want to add some non-leaked surprises in their too so I don’t want both Dante and Phoinex so which one do you feel is more likely?

Phoinex doesn't exist so Dante. Maybe Pheonix but idk

Phoenix Wright for me. A Franchise that has been on Nintendo for most of its history and is one of the icons of the DS should take precedent over a franchise that was only brought over to a Nintendo console last year and was featured in Playstation All Stars.
Also which Isaac? Golden Sun or Binding of Isaac?

Phoinex doesn't exist so Dante. Maybe Pheonix but idk

Pheonix doesn't exist either. Phoenix should get in.

Lloyd - Meh. I'd rather have Heihachi or Sophitia.
Dante - Good for his fans, and I know he has a lot, but does nothing for me. I'd rather Phoenix or Ammy.
Geno - Big yes.
Shantae - No thanks. I just think there's Indies that would either have a more interesting moveset (Steve) or just fit better with the rest of the roster (Shovel Knight).
Professor Layton - No attachment, but I would be curious to see how he played.
Doom Slayer - Big yes.
Sol Badguy - I know nothing about Guilty Gear, so I'll just say he has a funny name. I'd honestly have to learn more about him before I made any judgements.
Sakura - Another Dante situation: not bad, but I'd rather have Kiryu or even Arale if we were to get another Sega character.
Frogger - I like the idea of having Frogger in Smash to go with Pac-Man, but I'd need to see a moveset to fully get behind the idea.
Ryu Hayabusa - Sure, I don't really have any connect to Ryu, but I know a lot of people are pretty crazy about his potential inclusion.
Crash - Biggest yes around.

Wish there could be some First Parties in there like Dixie Kong, Impa, and/or Elma but that's just me.

For Isaac, do you mean the one from Golden Sun, The Binding of Isaac, or Dead Space? If it's the first one, then I'd go with Shantae; it seems simpler to assume that assist trophies won't be promoted to playable within the same game.

For the Capcom choice, I'd go with Dante. I'm probably biased, but Dante vs. Bayonetta needs to happen at some point, and Dante has so much material to work with that you could probably make five separate movesets for the guy, all of them being completely unique/having no overlap, and still have material left over.

Here's a fun and depressing game to play: We are probably going to get more third party spirit events in the future, so by using the companies already present in smash which games would be best to get 4 spirits on the board?

Sega: Valkiria Chronicles
Atlus: Shin Megami tense (as in not Persona, just the demons)
Namco: Klonoa
Square: The world ends with you
Microsoft: Minecraft
SNK: Metal Slug



Yeah, I wish music would show up at least.

Part of me seriously hopes we get more Bomberman spirits if he's not gonna be upgraded, because all we literally have is the titular spirit for him. Where's Max? Black Bomberman? Regulus? Dastardly Bombers? Sirius? Come on, Sakurai.

The other parts hope Bomberman is upgraded.

Bagura, Mujoe, MechaDoc, Pretty Bomber would be great additions, even as Mii costumes

It's alright... but Professor Layton being included without Phoenix Wright is downright criminal.

Also, where did you get the template of the Smash roster with all the characters up to Terry revealed and the 11 placeholders? Now I want to try my hand at this.

Honest question guys. Would you guys be down for a separate release of Smash Ultimate that includes all DLC Content like with the Street Fighter V Champion Edition (maybe even at a discount)

I ask because i was thinking about how all of this Extra DLC might kill people's wallets. Depending on how many extra Characters we get, we could be looking at another $25-$100 Extra Dollars for all the fighters, not including Mii Costumes. That's probably gonna make some people fall out the game, with the feeling on having to spend too much to have a "Complete Package". it also doesn't help that it's looking like DLC is where we are gonna be getting most of out unique newcomers from. also unlike Street Fighter there is no way ingame to get any of the DLC Fighters without forking over the extra money

Having Phoenix squeezed in there somewhere as well would practically make it perfect for me.

Right off the bat, I approve since it's got my three most-wanted characters in there. (Doomguy, Geno, and Dante). As for the others...

-Lloyd makes sense as a second Namco-Bandai character, though there are other characters from the company that I'd prefer (Heihachi, Agumon, and even though I barely know anything about Xenosaga, KOS-MOS seems like she'd be an interesting playable character from the footage that I've seen from Project X Zone)

-I know very little about Shantae or Professor Layton (I played a bit of one of Shantae's games that I got through Humble Bundle, and I haven't played a Layton game), though I'd be fine with them being included.

-I barely know who Sakura is - I know she's from a Sega game involving mechs, and there was a Segata Sanshiro commercial about it that contrasts heavily with what I'm used to from Segata Sanshiro commercials - so I can't really comment

-Ryu and Crash make a ton of sense, and Frogger seems justified from a historical perspective

-I don't know much about Sol Badguy, but from what little I've played of Guilty Gear Xrd, he seems like he'd be fun, albeit potentially really complicated. (and that's just based on the basic level of the game's tutorial!)

I feel like you probably could have fit in one or two first party characters in there. Seeing as spirits don't seem to be an issue here (with Geno and Shantae being included), there are plenty of options to work with. (Elma from Xenoblade Chronicles X, Bandanna Waddle Dee, Wonder Red, etc.) While I generally find third party additions to be more exciting, there are still some Nintendo franchises that feel underrepresented in Smash Ultimate's current state, at least when it comes to playable characters. (Zelda, Xenoblade, and Kirby being the main ones)

I don't think it would hurt to have the option. The catch is waiting may hurt opportunities to actually play that content with other people since interest will only decline over time. This may not be as much of a downside with Smash since the online is pretty subpar, but it's still something to consider before making that decision.

Nintendo already tried that with Smash 4, didn't really work that well.

To be honest this is the same company that charges $70 for Joy Cons that occasionally drift and become useless half the time and routinely charges $60 for ports and games like 1-2 Switch. The Smash 4 DLC cost was $101.23 for all content on both platforms, or $56.38 for just stages and characters.

I don't think they really care about killing people's wallets.

If the next fighters are a full season 2 then yes, I think they should do a re-release once that comes out.

I'd be surprised if something like that happens on the Switch, but for Nintendo's next console it's a very real possibility that they'll port Ultimate over with all of its DLC + some additional content, instead of taking on the challenge of making a whole new game that somehow has to outdo Ultimate.

It's a proven formula.

OTOH, Nintendo are offering free Joy-Con repairs - probably because that flaw got just big enough for them to not notice.

Smash DLC does add up in price quickly but it's a tragedy how it's a good model in this day and age.

If EA was making Smash you'd only be able to play as anyone other than Mario if you unlocked the rest in lootboxes.

Lloyd - I can see him happening. He seems to be the frontrunner for FP #5 atm unless he joins the deconfirmation list.
Dante - Definitely approve. He already has a massive moveset on his own, and if he's in later in the DLC cycle I can see him having Styles implemented.
Geno - Not too big on Geno, but that would be good for his fans
Shantae - Can't say much about her since I haven't played her games
Layton - Don't know much about him.
Doomguy - I approve of this. Hope he RIP AND TEARS his way into Smash in the future.
Sol Badguy - I think he would be fun to play as. Plus, GIMME THAT GUILTY GEAR MUSIC!
Sakura - Don't know about her.
Frogger - Memes aside, he could potentially get in based on a historical perspective.
Hayabusa - Oh yes.
Crash - I could see him getting in, potentially as an E3 reveal.

I'm down for a "definitive edition" when this all said and done (if they could somehow make that happen), but as a fighting game enthusiast, let me tell you that everything we're getting is well worth the post-release content price tag lol. Guest content of this magnitude should cost a ton (guest fighters typically cost extra, to pay for licensing IIRC). I know people who've paid way more for a lot less star power and replay value. Games have charged more for music packs when Terry came with 50 songs and all of the other fixings for 5 bucks (4, if you bought the season pass).

I know it may seem expensive and nobody wants to essentially buy a game twice, but when ya look at the bigger picture, this is a total steal (the base roster was more than enough; every returning veteran and then some? Good Lord!). And for those of us who are ballin' on a budget, we also have the option to prioritize what we want by purchasing it à la carte. All of this and we get discounts in the form of Nintendo rewards? Simply buying the DLC got me free stuff on the side lol.

Honestly I like this mockup quite a bit, feels like a nice variety of genres and companies. Not gonna lie, I have no idea who Sol Badguy or Sakura are, but bring ‘em on, they look cool. And as dumb as it is, I would definitely pog for the Frog.

Lloyd- I still haven't played Tales despite how I finally own a Tales game now but he'd be ok I guess
Dante- Dante'd be amazing, **** ton of moves to pull from, a **** load of great songs, really cannot possibly go wrong here
Geno- Geno more like Gee how about no
Shantae- ehhh, I've gotten over the bandwagon for her, she'd be neat and she's got good games I guess
Layton- No experience, can't comment
Doomslayer- **** yeah, incredibly easy to see moveset, Mick Gordon, hell as a stage, literally impossible to **** up
Sakura- No knowledge on her or her series, depends on how she'd work
Frogger- Neat I suppose. Can't imagine how he'd work but if I see a good moveset I'd be ok
