I actually think Master Chief would be a far better fit for Smash than Doomguy. Aesthetically and tonally, he lines up so much better, and his shield regeneration has a lot of potential as an interesting mechanic in Smash.

Not at all, everyone has their tastes. I want Gordon the most out of every other FPS character but I also want Master Chief and Doom Slayer. I believe these three characters represent an important history of the FPS genre and as such they deserve an inclusion.

I respect your opinion. Goemon is my most wanted character and I'm glad he is at least acknowledge in Smash at all. Him getting a Mii costume made me so happy.

My issue with spirits, especially spirits for games that don’t have playable reps is that they’re lame. They’re just .pngs of the chars. If we can’t get them as playable characters, can we at least get some music or mii costumes? Like, some of my most wanted chars have games with great soundtracks. It’s okay if I can’t get them playable, but to not even get any cool music with it stings.

I would have prefered having a playable rep but yeah. If I have to choose between 0 representation and the spirits ofc I pick the second option. Resident Evil is big and influential enough to appear in Smash even without a playable character.

They're trying to ease us into the next entry of the franchse: Smash Bros. Mobile, where everyone is a png.

Well not every non playable character can get a 3D model in the game or music. A lot of characters being present in the game at all is respect to the creators of those characters. Like for me outside of my boi Goemon getting a Mii costume, I was also happy about Tron Bonne getting a Spirit and her having a Spirit battle.

I think Resident Evil deserves the Castlevania treatment.
I'd like to see Nemesis (or Mr. X) as a boss, Chris, Jill, Leon, even Claire playable, make duos and throw one of them as echoes, give us a lot of remixes to fit the dynamic setting of Smash, a World of Light map based of Racoon City would be sick AF, put Ada or Wesker as an assist trophy and I don't know, add an item that zombifies opponents?
There is so much potential if you look at the big picture, because RE is so much more than just the characters.

Although to be fair, Smash DLC is doing a lot of justice to the franchises that are getting represented so far, so its fair to assume RE wouldn't be the exception.

Square Enix: Star Ocean. I will literally be content with just Spirits if it means more ppl will pay attention to that series. Heck, First Departure R is coming soon to the Switch - perfect time to promote Spirits from that game!
Microsoft: either Minecraft or General Rare History (include the cut Jet Force Gemini and Blast Corps Spirits)
SNK: they’ve pretty much covered all the bases with Terry’s tbh and still not even so much as a Spirit for Mai bye
Others: Danganronpa (Spike Chunsoft; Junko Enoshima & Monokuma (all one Spirit) is Legend rank); General Falcom Spirit event; Disgaea (NIS; they were deconfirmed to have a playable character for FP5 after all, wouldn’t surprise me if this happened)

Doom Slayer and Shantae would be meh. Lloyd, Dante, Geno, Layton, Sol, and Sakura would be neat. Ryu Hayabusa would be really neat. Crash and Frogger would be incredibly hype for me.

I'd be a bit sad at the lack of Edelgard but that's a solid line up all around.

Part of me seriously hopes we get more Bomberman spirits if he's not gonna be upgraded, because all we literally have is the titular spirit for him. Where's Max? Black Bomberman? Regulus? Dastardly Bombers? Sirius? Come on, Sakurai.

The other parts hope Bomberman is upgraded.

Speaking of Konami, I'm surprise more people in speculation don't mention Bill Rizer or Lance Bean from Contra a lot more often as it is one of Konami's biggest franchises. Plus Contra has the most famous video game cheat code in history: The Konami code. That alone should pretty much warrant Contra a rep in Smash.

I've found that basically any time I've been like, "Bruh, why THAT character?", I see them in action with gameplay and seeing them in-engine, and I'm instantly in love with it. It's just the influence new Smash characters has over me.

Sure I didn't get Resident Evil, and I very well may never get a playable Leon Kennedy in Ultimate. That hurts. It sucks. He was my most wanted.

However, I really wanted Chrom in Wii U, but got Robin instead. Robin is super fun.

Likewise, if it turns out to be Phoenix Wright or Ammy, I'll probably ****ing love it. If it's Yuri Lowell instead of Lloyd Irving, I'll be disappointed that it isn't Lloyd, but I'm likely to just absolutely love something about Yuri.

I may come off as a hardass, but I'm sure I'll love whatever happens.

Same, I freaking dreaded the idea of Terry and Edrick getting in smash, thought they were super boring, but when they did get in, their reveal trailers blew me away, and the music, stages, and movesets always win me over.
So even though I don’t want Reimu, if she did get in I’d probably end up enjoying it

Shhhhhhhhhh don’t jinx it. It’s honestly a miracle that Smash isn’t a gacha yet.

Well not every non playable character can get a 3D model in the game or music. A lot of characters being present in the game at all is respect to the creators of those characters. Like for me outside of my boi Goemon getting a Mii costume, I was also happy about Tron Bonne getting a Spirit and her having a Spirit battle.

Honestly I’m of the type where unless the character I want is super obscure and hasn’t been in a game in years, if they HAD to be in the game, they’d have to be playable imo. I’d be hyped for a Klonoa or Power Stone spirit board for example, because they haven’t showed up in anything for years. However, a Spyro spirit board would be a little more disappointing, because it’s unlikely that he’d be able to be in the next smash game... if the next smash game cuts out third party guests of course.

I’m not really big on the single player content in Ultimate either, which is why I’m a little more bummed about the concept of spirit boards in general. That’s just me though.

One thing I do hope they do differently for a second Fighters Pass, or just post-Pass DLC in general: reveal all the characters ahead of time.

For a Fighters Pass 2, instead of drip feeding the characters to us one at a time, just make one big cinematic trailer where all the characters are getting invitations to Smash, leaving us just waiting for gameplay presentations like with Hero, Banjo, and Terry.

A good example of what I'm referring to would be the announcement trailer/cinematic opening for Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition, which revealed all the Season 3 DLC characters ahead of time, and was positively received by fans after the Season 2 DLC characters were just slowly revealed.

Maybe they could reveal 2 characters in one announcement, but not all at once, smash isn’t like most fighting games, it thrives with speculation
