Take it to the social thread because this isn't one.

Also please refrain from talking about advice unrelated to a newbie's question here, especially if its wrong. We don't want some new player browsing the thread to get the wrong idea.

Okaaaay, I'm new.

I've just played 2 mafia's in DR but I'm not good.
But either way, I'm interested into playing mafia.
So yeah.

I'll be /in for now, I suppose.
Tery you aren't a newbie anymore.
Yes I am. Have you seen my play?
And you know how you'll get better?

By playing with better people.

Constantly playing with newbies just because you don't think you're good yourself won't change jack all. Stick to a game with a higher standard and get your *** beat enough times until you're good. You've been in over 3 newbies.
To add to that Newbie games aren't for players who think they're for bad. They're for teaching people the fundamentals and workings of the game, something which you do understand and I'm pretty sure have done for a long time now
We've been over this before.

Tery: Stop what you are doing. You say you want to get good at mafia yet you seem to always try and play in the exact same way or keep doing the exact same things even though you know its bad play. Terrible WIFOM defence (If I were scum I'd...), self meta, playing the newb card, trying to absolve yourself of any responsibility and always being afraid to just do stuff. These are serious reasons which are halting your development in mafia and if you got rid of all that crap you'd start improving. Also, man up and play real games, playing in an environment where people let what you do slide isn't gonna make you any better either.

Are you trying to talk about Newbie 15? That's a pretty terrible argument, X1-12. It's learning process, is it not? Aside from the brief mention of the WIFOM instance from Gheb--who we don't even know is Mafia or not--I was not informed of anything regarding any defensive stances I took during the entire game from the IC slots. "An environment which people let stuff slide?" What are you babbling about? There was nothing wrong with the stuff I posted throughout the game, and you know what, people didn't let it slide, they were all just inactive as **** and did not do anything about it, so don't try and pin that on other players' actions.

Saying "If I was scum I would..." Is terrible play - don't do it. NK WIFOM is terrible play - don't do it. Sitting around going "someone tell me what to do" is terrible play - don't do it. This isn't rocket science and I'm pretty sure you've seen or been told this stuff before. Admit your mistakes and don't make them the next time round. Joining real games (where your mistakes are more likely to get called out on) just makes it more likely you can realise what you are doing wrong and allows you to improve from it

You shouldn't need an IC to hold your hand and tell you what to do and what not to do, this is all fairly simple stuff where you and only you can help yourself improve

It comes during other games just as readily as in a newbie game in the form of reprimands and votes. Hell, that's how it comes in newbie games as well.

Cool.

My newbie game, like most other newbie games, will be pretty basic. It will be:

9 players total

2 ICs, or 1 IC w/ 1 SE, 5 newbies.

open set up

1 town tracker
1 town doctor
5 vanilla townies

vs.

1 mafia roleblocker
1 mafia goon

The theme of the game will be Homestuck Trolls Mafia.

All roles and alignment will be randomized to the flavor.
is this still in signup mode?

Let Tery play in a newbie game if he wants. They aren't just for learning mechanics, it's about getting good.

Tery, your best opportunity to learn comes from playing against and with good people, in new set-ups.

Let Tery chooses where he plays - but Tery understand you'll not progress by limiting yourself. Challenge yourself. Everyone (myself not included) was bad once.

then i guess ill /in for it.
I'm fully expecting you to be good at mafia.

Methodical, careful. I want you to get VT in your first game, don't be afraid to challenge what you don't believe - always be prepared to change your reads in light of new information.

Please don't have previous mafia experience.

I'd say Tery shouldn't be allowed to join Newbies because he's not, but then I'd have to deal with him in queue games.

What a dilemma.

Actually, Swiss is one of the best players on Dgames.

Not that that's saying much about the rest of us.

Also I need another IC now that Kuzi is banned.

Simple really. Before signing up, you asked if the specific game you wanted was still in signup mode. Methodical, careful. Says a lot about you to my mind.

'Course, I'm not one to make large assumptions based on nothing (this is entirely untrue). Since you know of EE's reputation at being good, you probably know EE IRL. He'll teach you good.

Grow up big and strong.

Rule of thumb: dont take swiss' advice. I did once, uand then i took an arrow to the knee.
I was aiming for your ballsack.

..but then I took an arrow to the knee.

And Swords? I'm the best.
