Not saying we'll see a 6th gen Poke, but characters exist long before we know about them. So it's not a question of when the 6th gen is revealed, but whether or not it's far enough along in development now to lend a character to Smash.

I think the question lies in, have they created the 6th gen mascot? Right now, I think that they've already formulated one that they're going to promote for the 6th gen and are trying to figure out how to promote the 6th gen while handling the 5th gen.

We should also remember that the Pokemon Company has power over who gets in and I think that if they're going to decide any inclusion, it'll be the Pokemon newcomer and I do think they'll at least inform Sakurai about the 6th gen mascot before they finish development.

Failing that, I could see the Pokemon Company telling Sakurai not to add any 5th gen Pokemon and when development starts on the 6th gen, ask Sakurai to add it in as the last addition (ala Sonic).

While I'm probably not going to get much with trying to convince people here that a 6th gen Pokemon mascot is a realistic choice, it just makes so much sense to me to add that one in instead of a 5th gen Pokemon in Smash 4 when by the time Smash 4 is out, we'll likely already be in the 6th gen (especially if we get a 2015 release date and probably by Q4 2014).

But in all seriousness, I'll try to keep discussion of 6th gen Pokemons as limited as possible until we receive legitimate evidence that one is announce (or the 6th gen mascot is revealed). Last thing I want is for that to become my Impa (Or in my case, my next Victini).

@SSBF: That was my point way earlier. It does not exist, and thus, can't be a viable contender.

I hope 5th Gen isn't skipped either, truthfully. I admit the 3rd Gen did start with some unfavorable stuff when it came to the games, but it was still a lot of fun. IMO. And considering Sakurai had less time, he had to go with the most popular character, which was clearly Lucario. Can't really say anything bad about that.

@HyperFalcon: I'd be hoping for one as well... if the mascot wasn't a Pokemon I loathed and if any of the 5th gen Pokemons I wouldn't have a problem with it's inclusion for had a realistic shot (no, I don't think Meloetta has much of a shot. I can barely even justify it as a wildcard choice).

But I think I've speculated about Pokemon newcomers long than enough (I'm not particularly excited about Pokemon speculation anymore as most everyone wants and expects Mewtwo to return and so do I, which is the only Pokemon I want that has a real shot of getting in). Unless someone needs me to address something, I'll go on to music.

Would anyone want to see the music Ecruteak City from the Heart & Gold version get in? I thought it was absolutely fantastic. While we're at it, I'd like to see remix of Dance of the Sacred Beast in it.

Kyurem is much closer to that, especially since he's key to B & W 2.

I'd like Genesect because he's unique overall. Not because of mascot status. Note that Plusle & Minun were not the mascots of 3rd Gen either.

Only problem with Gen 3 is how they changed the way to get stats. I forgot what it was named, but it was annoying as is. :<

Well, it could be possible that they have some ideas in store. I mean, Fraxure was designed shortly after Platinum was released, IIRC.
Doesn't mean we'll be getting a 6th Gen, though.

if I had to take a guess of who the mascot was, it would be the dude who is shaped like and has a move named after the Number 5.

Isn't Zoroark the mascot of this gen as Lucario is the mascot to this gen in terms of marketing (although Lucario received much more, Zoroark was still heavily marketed)?

But yeah, Deoxys and Genesect would be awesome to see. I would love to see the 3rd gen get a playable rep considering my fond memories of it and I think Deoxys would be fantastic. Genesect is my favorite choice for a 5th gen.

Battle Frontier was a very serious season, to be fair.

But so was the other filler season, Orange Islands. Although it had a bit more comedy.

Anyway, FireRed/LeafGreen somewhat references them with the extra islands(heh) and you could find most(if not all) of the other Gen Pokemon there.
