It's still a little odd that the redesign only appears in said DLC chapter, and not in any others. We also don't know if they keep it when you recruit them. So they probably don't mean anything in the end, but like everyone else, I want that version of Roy in Smash. BD
Once you beat the DLC chapter you get to use the lord as a reward, and they do end up using that design.

But the thing is they're not as recognisable to many people. Hence, obscurity.

But indeed Breadbug, you have so much huge points there. Sakurai just generalises Nintendo and Smash Bros too much. Dr.Mario became a character though due a costume messing in Melee development...

It's even wierd we got FE featured in first place because many say NO MORE JAPAN ONLY. What.

But it's so dumb because Smash Bros generally mirrorises Nintendo. So far it's only about it's most mainstream characters and the lesser-known series are so in backseat that it's ridiculous. My friend says it's because Nintendo doesn't care about them.

That's curious. In the pics for Roy's chapter it has FE11 Marth and not redesigned Marth.

For now I'm still dismissing them as nothing. But they're still awesome.

We've also had a new Golden Sun and Sin and Punishment. Not saying they are the most successful series, but they are new games in existing franchises none the less. Certainly more than F-Zero or Star Fox have had since Brawl.
Yeah, but kind of my point was he tends to look at the 1st party Nintendo games and not the second. Pokemon, Kirby and Mother are the only series that are not first party, but the latter two involve HAL, who I think is owned by Nintendo, but I could be wrong (at the least, they made the first two games).

*slams down*

But wait, so Camelot is a second-party? I understand Treasure's case, being independent and not affiliated with Nintendo, but is Camelot a second party?

I was looking at who owns the rights to Starfy.... turns out it isn't 100% owned by Nintendo. TOSE owns the series as well. He could very well be that Nintendo-owned character Sakurai couldn't really get into Brawl... he probably acquired permission a little too late so Starfy became an Assist Trophy instead because Sakurai didn't really have much time to come up with an unique moveset for Starfy. It could explain why the Starly trophy is grouped with the other trophies under the Fighter-Related category.

There's so much speculation behind WHY Starfy's in that category. Some say "misplacement due rushing or something" while some say "he was meant to be playable"...

That 2008 quote in my mind doesn't hold a lot. If memory serves, doesn't Sakurai have a MUCH bigger development team this time? Not to mention that the WiiU disk or whatever is like at least 3 times as Brawl's disk.

And I've been thinking lately. If we get anything at E3, it'll probably be from the 3DS version. I mean, Sakurai's worked with it before, and with a big development team and a peripheral you've made games on before, 4 months is A LOT of time.

Well it could be either to be completely honest. Brawl was indeed extremely rushed. However, Starly would have been the ONLY mislabeled trophy, which is oddly suspicious seeing how Starfy would make such a fantastic and unique character. It isn't hard to see why Sakurai might have originally planned him.

Also, just because he isn't owned 100% by Nintendo doesn't mean they can't use him. It just takes a little extra. I would actually lean towards the side that some legal things got messed up and there wasn't enough time. Easily fixable for Smash 4.

Isn't that what Training Mode is for? For you to play around with the controls and learn what characters can and cannot do? What's different about a Tutorial Mode?

A training mode just drops you in a stage with a dummy, leaving you to figure things out. A tutorial mode has the potential to do many things. For example, it can teach the controls by an action by action basis. Teach you the basics of combos and canceling etc. The tutorial can also be used to explain advanced concepts like spacing, hit confirms, and mixups. Skullgirls and BlazBlue are excellent examples that should be the bare minimum. In fact, what BlazBlue does as well is that you are given a brief description of the character's playstyle and a separate mode features combo trials. They aren't the most practical of combos, but are meant to be execution testers (something Sakurai doesn't know apparently judging from his KIU interview) and show the combo capabilities of the character.

Oh, okay. I think Killer Instinct had something similar to that but I don't remember. It's been like 15 years since the last time I played it. :awesome:

I have a very strong feeling that ~80% of all Smash Bros players don't care about playstyle and will just force their own playstyle onto their favourite character. Telling people "this is the recommended playstyle for Samus" is going to just piss people off.

Wow. That Palutena model looks good. I want Palutena in Smash 4 more than ever. I think she's like my second-most wanted female newcomer (Dixie Kong is first and Medusa is third).

Anyone think Tobidase City would be a good name for a potential new Animal Crossing stage in Smash 4? It would be the spiritual successor to Smashville, one of my favorite Brawl stages.

Hahahaha... no... I would be content with just Pit, Palutena, Medusa, and Magnus. Nothing more beyond that. But I think I can live without Magnus. :p

Magnus just needs his own game. Man Icarus. :awesome:

Pit
Palutena
Medusa
Hades
Pyrrhon
Viridi
Poseidon
Pittoo
Thanatos
Amazon Pandora
Magnus
Lord Gaol
Phosphorus

Wow, that'd actually be a pretty big game. XD

And Man Icarus would rule so much.. seriously.

They could even bring in Orcos or whatever he is, the final boss of the second game.

I'm not saying that I'd enjoy it more than Smash Brothers, but their are so many colorful and powerful characters, there is no way it wouldn't work. Plus we know for certain Hades would be in that one as opposed to having no chance in SSB4. ;-;

Edit: Sorry for double post, could have sworn I saw someone else post. @_@; Confusion..

Isn't kid icarus already a fighting game,or ya want something like street fighter or what?

Man,i didn't notice i'm now a journeyman
LOLNO.... I kinda would like a Kid Icarus fighting game to be like how it already is like in Uprising.... I would like that instead of radically overhauling Smash 4 into something like a 3D fighting game like Uprising. I just don't want Smash 4 to be the game that fans declare "ruined Smash FOREVER!" because of that.

Hype much?
