I guess I'll wait for Shortie or Chrono to give their arguments. Toad is Toad, but he just seems so boring. :p
I blame the facts that he has few appearances where he fights on his own without being essentially a clone of everybody else. He's not unique in NSMBWii... hell, he's technically not in it.

So far, the only key ones for indefinite fighting in Super Mario Bros. 2 USA and Wario's Woods.

I can see inspiration drawn from other things, though. Like we could stretch it for him to use the Axe from Super Mario Bros. that defeats Bowser, and so on. There's a lot to go with if we apply other elements.

I just wish his chances were somewhat high. :urg:

A Link to the Past remade in 3D and stars Toon Link? Take my money, Nintendo!

Axe? But Toad never used it. My suggested moveset had Toad doing things that Toad(s) actually did.

B came from Toad's throwing mushrooms in Super Mario Kart.
Side B came from Toad's speeding with the mushrooms in Mario Kart: Double Dash!!
Up B came from Toad's floating with the propeller suit in New Super Mario Bros. Wii.
Down B came from Toad's picking up and carrying enemies in Super Mario Bros. 2.
Final Smash came from Toad's driving around in the kart and using the Lucky 7 item from Mario Kart 7.

1. She has a melee staff (as opposed to a magic staff) which provides many fighting possibilities that swords do not provide.
2. If Smash is to ever implement strings, Krystal would be one of the prime examples of this mechanic thanks to Starfox Adventures providing a number of possibilities.
3. She was very popular pre-Brawl. My guess as to why the hype died down is because people thought it'd be unlikely for Starfox to have four characters.
4. She would likely provide a very strong ground footsies game, something that hasn't been seen much since people mostly use aerials.
5. She would not attract furries any more than Fox, Falco, and Wolf. Even if this was considered detrimental, this is more of a bigoted reason than anything else, one which I consider invalid along with the lolita argument.

@Arc
I know I've commented on the moveset before, but the side B can be expanded into the the Mushroom Rush move berserker and I came up, you could even change one fo the moves to be a hyper armor rushdown move. For the Poison Mushroom, it'd be better off to take out the shrinking and change it to being just poisonous for balancing reasons.

Also, I love the use of the old school Mario art. It'd be nice if Nintendo would use 2D art once more for their official art. Otherwise, I don't think we see 2D Mario art enough.

In closing, we couldn't resist asking about one Nintendo series that is conspicuous by its absence from the company's release schedules. It is so frequently criticised for leaning on its established franchises, and the 3DS has played host to 3D remakes of classic Nintendo games. Where, then, is F-Zero?

"I think at the time it was a really big surprise, a new thing, a product that made sense," he said. "I don't see with current hardware how you could create a similar surprise.

"But maybe with future hardware, with Wii U coming up, maybe we could create something that does make sense, either as a smaller game, or a fully fledged title."
I don't see how people see this as good news. I really, really want another F-Zero title, but it seems to me that Miyamoto is simply saying "I dunno... maybe?". The comment about a future F-Zero possibly being a smaller games possibly might mean that the next F-Zero would be smaller budget download only game for the Wii U's download service (probably developed by Monster Games, which handled resurrections for the Excite and Pilotwings series).

F-Zero Wii U ain't confirmed just yet, my man Diddy, but just to hear that it's very possible and that the series isn't dead yet (like Star Fox possibly) is enough for me

Kuma, I agree soooooooo much with that box art part. I think that's why Smash 64 has the best box art, IMO

The return of Toon Link and especially in A Link to the Past is better news imo though. 3D LTTP will be the best thing ever! Now here's hoping they'll use Impa in it. :awesome:

I didn't read the article, but REALLY??

:phone:
Well, technically Miyamoto said he wanted A Link to the Past 3D but also mentioned that it is possible that they might make a new Zelda game based on the "A Link to the Past 3D" concept instead. Here's hoping they might include Tingle in it! :awesome:

The roster for this game is the most difficult to predict. Is there even a shoe-in character for the fourth edition?

I hope a few characters are revealed at E3.

I was referring to the Mario art, but yeah, I agree on that. It would be nice if they used 2D promotional art like they did with KIU and every single Zelda game since OoT.

Imagine Peach getting something crazy like this though.

Maybe Ridley. Second and third maybes would be Little Mac and Krystal. All three are some of the most popular characters that didn't make it in yet. That being said, I say Palutena stands a very strong chance.

Sorry Metal Overlord, F-Zero doesn't really excite me at all. I tried playing F-Zero Maximum Velocity (one of the Ambassador 3DS games)... I didn't like it. I tried playing F-Zero GX demo that came with Mario Kart Double Dash... I liked it but only marginally. I guess I am not too crazy about F-Zero games in general. Well, now you know why I am not a supporter of either Samurai Goroh or Black Shadow and why I always stated that I wouldn't lose sleep over Captain Falcon getting cut if that ever happens. Now you understand why I was more excited over the Zelda news than I was with the F-Zero news.

Well, I actually was referring to Diddy, but it's cool, though, Arcade, I respect that

And Lukin, who the hell is that

I never liked Lili much (I like Asuka a lot more). Peach being drawn like that though would be nice, however

Now make all of his moves that related to the games he was specifically in. Except New Super Mario Bros. Wii. The real Toad was never there once. Atleast besides maybe a random NPC.

I'd like to see a single moveset that doesn't incorporate that. The reason? Sakurai may ignore that game completely. I'm sure with his plethora of direct appearances, you don't need NSMBW to help out. Or, you know, use stuff from Mario Party when he was playable. Like using Stars, or any unique item like the Bowser Suit(not that one specifically), and so on. He has tons of appearances. He just never much appeared as important in that one game where "a" Toad is playable.

To be specific, there was no way to know which was the real Yoshi by the time the first Smash came out. But it was not hard to make a moveset, oddly enough. But all of his moves were shown many a bit.

Shoe-in characters? Well, in my honest, unbiased opinion... I believe they might be Little Mac, Mii, and Palutena.

I like Asuka more as well. In fact, my little sister loves Asuka because she's such a tomboy like her.

And now for some fun for similar poses for Smash characters.

That's ridiculous. It's like asking me to make a moveset based on the games the real Yoshi appeared in. That leaves us with what? Super Mario World and the spin-off games. That leaves Yoshi with what? Nothing but his Final Smash. What you are asking me to do is not fair to Toad. :urg:

And LOL @ your statement that Sakuriai might possibly ignore New Super Mario Bros. Wii.... do you really think he would ignore one of the biggest Mario games in the last four years post-Brawl? No, that would be a big blunder on Sakurai's part if he does that. :glare:

And besides, Link is allowed to use techniques from all the Zelda games despite that his appearance is based off a particular Link, OoT for 64 and Melee and TP for Brawl. His DAir was only seen in Zelda 2 until it reappeared in TP.

Those actually make a LOOOOOOOT of sense when you think about it lol

Especially the Jack-X pose for Donkey Kong and the Blanka one for Wolf

The first three were by far the easiest. Lucario's the closest to using Chinese martial arts, especially internal ones like Julia's Xing-Yi. The other two were no brainers. I just needed to find one for DK that has a character flexing their biceps.

Too bad all his moves came from games where he mattered. Egg Throw? Yoshi's Island. Same with the Flutterkick and his special jump. Egg lay? Every game but Super Mario 64. Buttstomp? Related to his ability to kill things by jumping on them. The only special he got that I can't think of its origin was the Egg Roll. And that's not that hard to imagine. As for many of his other moves, those are simple to do.

And LOL @ your statement that Sakuriai might possibly ignore New Super Mario Bros. Wii.... do you really think he would ignore one of the biggest Mario games in the last four years post-Brawl? No, that would be a big blunder on Sakurai's part if he does that. :glare:
Same reason he ignores Impa. He doesn't care about big names or key characters if he doesn't want to. It's his choice completely. I'd be glad if he forgot about it, really. You can't even play as the true Toad in there. Let's leave it to the games he's playable in.

But this further proves my point anyway. If you can't imagine him fighting without trying to go to one particular game(that he's not playable in), what makes you think Sakurai will? You think he figured that Zelda could fight by looking at the "popular" games? Only game he acknowledged was OOT. She never fought once in there.

He'll go for wherever he fought first. Those clearly didn't inspire him. One game is not going to automatically change that. Likewise, it still shows that people are not as imaginative as they say they are. I'm challenging you to make a moveset without relying on NSMBW. I gave you my reasons already. I want to see if we can make a moveset without that game. I want to prove it's possible to look at everything. If Yoshi could do it, why can't Toad? Why must he rely on a game he's not even playable in?

I think Palutena might be my most wanted female for Smash now

Jody Summer, Dixie and Lyn come close, though
What would Jody do though? That's a big question I have to those who want her in.

I mean, Goroh's got his sword, Shadow's got his anime powers and his energy bondage chains, Pico's got his guns, Jody has....ribbon dancing?

*sigh* Fine, whatever. Here's your SMB2-centric Toad's moveset.

B: pulls out vegetables and quickly throws it
Side B: rides the Autobomb and shoot fireballs from the vehicle
Up B: does a charged high jump
Down B: does a quick ground pound... if Toad lands on an enemy, he quickly picks them up
Final Smash: pulls out the Rocket and it crash-lands back on the stage like an overpowered Warp Star item

I hope this satisfies your criteria. :glare:
