Saki is viewed pretty highly on G-Faqs, just sayin'. No one really debates him; everyone accepts him basically. I haven't seen anyone reject him from a roster in weeks if not months.

And I'm pretty sure near-everyone on G-Faqs looks at series representation. They don't look at what each character has done. For instance, I made a roster with the same 4 Zelda reps, and was told to add another because it's a part of Nintendo's Big 3, and it deserves a 5th rep if Mario and Pokemon are getting 5-6 reps too. Then I went on to mention that it would seem like filler because Ghirahim or whoever I'd add would be sooo much less popular that the Triforce Trio. I feel the same way about Waddle Dee.
Hey, I know you. :o

Yeah, I hate the "representative" philosophy. It bugs the crap out of me.

60%!? I'd say around 30-40%. Anyway most of us keep our serious posts in that group rather than here anyway.
Pretty much this.

Individual threads have an amazing effect on the quality and clarity of discussions.
Look who is always watching... :smirk:

But yeah, I will agree there. That is why once a trailer is revealed, I want to make My Prediction thread (there will be many). That way everything is more to the point.
I have no problem with Spydr wanting to do that, especially with the great discussions we have in the group.

I won't lie though, I did bring you up on the recruitment thread.
You were turned down...
I actually thought Spydr made that group first. Huh. Well SSBF was always a good organizer. Trust me, I am somewhat compulsive with organization (and cleanliness) so I know!

Wait how I was turned down=??? Was that when I first started posting here and y'all didn't know me well=???

I'm not the most active there. Depending on the thread, I am either more serious or much less serious.

Also, I gotta say you are probably right at this point in time. Before it was announced Sakurai was finally working on Smash 4, though, I think I would have been right. ;p

Threads also need to be maintained more diligently than some places, or else you wind up in a situation with threads asking for Twinkle Star in Super Smash Bros. 4.

Forgot to mention Dixie isn't liked that much on Faqs. People are against 3 DK reps, think KRool is basically a shoe-in (top 3 or top 5 material), but in 1 topic it was ruled that DK should be the next series to have 4 reps.

What=??? Dixie Kong almost made it in Brawl. She has the most data of any character not in, aside from Mewtwo and Roy (she was originally Diddy Kong's partner). But for reals, this is why GameFAQs frustrates me.

GameFAQs: Star Fox is super popular and deserves 4 characters.
Me: The series has sold maybe 3-6 million copies, almost all of which are from the first two games. The Kirby series has sold about 17 million copies and has 3 playable characters, Metroid has sold the same and has only one playable character in two forms, and Donkey Kong has sold about 50 million copies and has only two playable characters.

GameFAQs: No one knows Donkey Kong (Country) anymore.
Me: DKC Returns sold about 5.5 million units, or probably more than the entire Star Fox franchise

GameFAQs: No one knows Dixie Kong.
Me: Sakurai knows her, and almost added her in with Diddy Kong. What makes you think he won't consider her heavily this time around too=??? She's popular, co-starred in one game that sold 5 million units, starred a game that sold 3 million units, and has been a mainstay in the Donkey Kong franchise.

^Ugh, GameFAQS is definitely one of the more unreliable SSB4 boards around here (it's very difficult to take any user seriously there). Not as bad as IGN, but unfortunately, GFs contains one of the bigger Smash communities at the same time. You bring up some good points johnknight and if only facts like the ones you provided were more recognized by those outside of the smash boards.

In terms of the DK characters, I personally think King K. Rool has the advantage of getting into the SSB4 roster; however, Dixie's inclusion is also inevitable as well. Both played solid roles in the past, and are still perfectly well owned by Nintendo (considering their latest cameos). I wonder if King K. Rool will appear in his original clothing style or be in that get-up he was given in MSS. :p

His last appearance was as King K.Rool in Jungle Climber, so I expect a King look for him, but with moves inspired by all 3 DKCs.

And yes, both Dixie and K.Rool are needed. I also heavily supported them before Brawl, as I knew Kirby would get both Meta Knight and Dedede.

This is what I think a lot of the Street Fighter community that talks us down are like. They're like the socially awkward jealous nerds talking behind the social and oddly polite jocks' backs about how lame they are.
So you overgeneralize a community just because of two players that overgeneralized the smash community.

Congratulations, you're a D&D nerd too.

All of this stuff is poignant, but it hinges upon whether Sakurai's humility takes over. This is the same man that did not include King DDD and Meta-Knight in Super Smash Bros. Melee, despite being heavily requested mind you, because he did not want to cast an image of being partial to his own work. With Kid Icarus being his latest work he might approach the series the same way. Maybe his development team might be able to persuade him otherwise, I don't know. How the fans respond to the game will probably be more important in this case than others because, it is Sakurai's latest baby after all. If for some bizarre reason Kid Icarus: Uprising just did not take off and died Sakurai is probably going to be a little upset and not feel up to cramming Uprising content into the next Smash Bros games. If it does well, which is what I am expecting, than we might see one character make it. My money is on Palutena if so.
Ummm. You guys know Palutena and Medusa are not his characters. It would be the same thing if he made a DKC game (with K. Rool) and no we can't have those because Sakurai is humble. He worked on those games, but he doesn't have any investment in those characters beyond that.

So you overgeneralize a community just because of two players that overgeneralized the smash community.

Congratulations, you're a D&D nerd too.
So, wait, he's a D&D nerd because he saw two fighting game dudes who were pretty much D&D dudes and acted like jerks?

I think your jimmies are just rustled.

Oooh, wait, I get it, it's okay to be a douche if you're a part of the Smash community.

That would explain why Kuma and I are part of the fighting game KKK by the eyes of a rat.

Wow, the point sure did go over your head. I think it's pretty clear your emotions are doing the talking, especially as your getting upset that someone said they like D&D nerds after seeing them.

Really? After all the negative connotations that other fighting games and the people like them are supposedly evil (for ideas that could improve Smash without radically changing the core, no less), I find it hard to even try to bring ideas that would bring both communities together, as it's obvious it's impossible.

Balloon Fighter gets a lot of hate because Sakurai apparently said he'd be stupid w/o his balloons. But, he could just air them up with Down B like Olimar and his Pikmin. But we don't really talk about retro that much, but Lip seems to dominate currently.

I had this odd notion that Balloon Fighter could have this miniaturized version of the giant fish from his game, that he'd use as a weapon. nothing is not awesome about smacking Ganondorf or Bowser with a fish.

Not before Chrome. And its also very weird to go for SS Zelda with Sheik. Just sayin'.

or maybe a SS inspired Sheik design. maybe draw details from Impa if she doesn't make it.
Then why not just put Impa in to not worry about the designing part? Oh wait, it's because Sheik is so deserving to be in Smash and has a lot of character; so much, that she can't be succeeded by a character with an actual personality and could fix the Zelda/Sheik issue once and for all.

you're right. let's drop an established character who's more popular in smash than her own series, in favor of someone new who spends most of her screentime doing little besides being old.

The funny thing is, she probably has all that popularity from her being one of the best characters in Melee and also being easy to learn. I wonder how things would've turned out if those weren't true.

And funny you use the screentime example. To me, this is the same as the "one time" argument. At best, these arguments are temporary, and as Diddy has mentioned, this could be a shift in focus for Impa in future games.

Personally, though, I'm for breaking up the duo since people tend to play as one or the other, rarely both.

ok, you have me there on the screentime thing. if that was the deciding factor then the roster would be a lot smaller, or at least different. so let me say this instead: if everyone's all bent out of shape about mewtwo, roy and the rest being eliminated, why is dropping sheik ok?

It's all in the above post of Kuma. Sheik's populariry comes from Melee. As she's the easiest of the high tiers to learn to play. She had her return in Brawl, and nobody really gave a **** for her IIRC when she was revealed. Why not just replace her with an actual important character story wise?

But impa also wasnt a very important character until ocarina of time.......
Nad it wasnt until recently when she finally got a more important spot again.

I'd actually be ok with that...

Impa might not have been important untill Ocarina of Time, but at least she's there. And her most important role definitely was Skyward Sword. So it doesn't mather. Sheik only has one main game appearance period...

But speaking of... Anyone ever has seen a Groose moveset yet?

Touché.

Infact, that's already more than what Sheik had... :troll:

When it was a single appearance in a game from '98 I beg to differ...
