Many others have said this too, and I feel the same way.
The reason I'm thinking they will both get in is that Uprising is an expansion of the series. These aren't new characters, but old ones revamped. And they are very important in their series. Heck, they are getting their own OVAs. Basically, I think they are good characters .Breasts are nature's mind control devices.
However, right now I don't see a reason to support Palutena and Medusa, and I am going to wait until Uprising is released before I can have a more informed opinion on them.
Right now, the only female character that I am positive on is Dixie Kong. However, I think Palutena and Medusa will be added to that assuming Uprising is great.

Just look at Luigi, Falco, Zelda and Lucas. I could mention some of the others, but that would be more of a stretch than even this. This is not something I am going to be dogmatic about, but when you look at the trend side protagonists tend to come before villains. Even when Melee added all of the Zelda characters Zelda was still the first shown. It just seems that priority tends to swing in their direction.

See, that's the thing though. You are trying to make specific rationalizations for each one to show that X isn't true, and they are all different and independent of each other.Luigi is the Mario series' 'almost hero'. But he making it in over Bowser was kind of logical to me in 64. Zelda and Ganondorf made it in togheter in Melee, and Lucas is not a assist character cause his game is starring him. He starts off as one maybe, much like Diddy but both eventually where forced to become their own leaders. Falco was hugely popular, and could even in some cases be considered a mild rival to Fox even. Kind of the same deal with Mario and Luigi in a sence. I'd even say Luigi has plenty of reasons to want to beat up Mario actually
Medusa for Smash 4. How can you NOT support that? That art is like the definition of awesome... I really hope she is important in Uprising and has a ton of cool abilities.
I don't even think they need to be really popular. Sakurai I don't think goes for popular but for characters that are really strong. I'm sure it helps, but at the same time, a lot of the characters who are popular are also going to be strong characters.
See I am careful with that because Sakurai does not like to shoe horn his own creations (despite how it may appear at times). Prior to Kid Icarus: Uprising there was not a lot of demand for a character outside of Pit. To me, unless there is a dramatic change I cannot see more than one being playable at this time. It really is rare that a series walks in with two characters in one game. The only series that have are Mario, Zelda, Pokémon and Kirby. Even then all of the characters added were highly requested on their own right. Not to mention that those series are the four pillars in the Super Smash Bros series. Bar fan requests are clear creative genius I cannot see Sakurai overcoming his desire of wanting to appear impartial.
Might be good to look at characters that are not important to their respective series yet are popular requests. Waluigi fits it perfectly for how unlikely he is, yet is getting a big fan base. Hopefully, quick deconfirmation of him will come.
And why isn't it justified?
I still think more people are going to want Palutena and Medusa at the end of the day. You will have more people complaining about "too many sword users" or "not important enough" before you even get to the subject of him trumping the other two.For all we know, we might not even get a goddess. We could just as well get Magnus, who Sakurai created.

I didn't say it was unjustified, did I? I just said that I don't understand why people are so anti-Waluigi.
Which is why I vote for Black Mage and Victini, because we dont have enough Magic Casters.

People already complain about too many sword users, and yet they request MORE such as Isaac and Ghirahim. People are finicky and cases like "too many sword users" should be ignored based on their insanity.
But if there's justification for it you wouldn't have to wonder about it.

So? Magnus only appears in one chapter in the entire game. His role is not even the same level as the other two or other one shot characters. So if we are going to compare him to the other two he most certainly is going to have less prominence.
