Japan takes the lead in the Loser's Bracket?

It matters not to me, all I'm concerned about is the Pika-Sonic duo.

I thought this thread was for discussion about Smash 4, not for chatting about a tournament. Remember, this is how this thread got shut down last time.

Anyway, I am curious how long the rest of you will continue to follow the Smash Bros. series. For me, Brawl would have been my last, but due to Ridley's exclusion, I have decided to follow one more Smash game.

Yeah, AMERICA F*** YEAH!

For realz, I hope Toon Link keeps this style, regardless of what happens with his move set. MJG is proof that Toon Link's style is pretty good in Brawl, and is interesting to watch.

Processing the tournament give people a good insight in how to determine gameplay disucssion.

Something that is failed to be comprehended in this thread because 95% of this thread is character discussion.

The game is made of more the characters dog.

Japan just beat a MW team Kansas to be specific. It was pretty entertaining. MJG got some clutch reads. Domo was making some bad option selects though

I'd prefer they switch up TLink, at least beyond the cosmetics of his moves.

They can't say there's minimal source material to make TLink somewhat more distinct.

Speaking on behalf of speculation, Brawl and Melee (Apex as a reminder) are topic points for what to expect from the next title. Balancing options, playstyles, metagame, movesets, matchups are all something to consider when relating the speculation points.

Its topics like an over analysis of character that drive that creativity from the thread. Its not only about the characters.

I don't think I would be able to resist checking up on things each time a new Smash is announced. Especially for Smash 5, because there's no telling what they'll do about character inclusion. After 50 characters, things are just going to get ridiculous.

Brawl and the Texans routing the Bengals... so not much. :troll:

@ n
I agree that Toon Link at least should have a few moves changed, but overall his play style is fine the way it is. Link in Brawl, on the other hand, has no style. At all. Other than sucking! :chuckle:  :troll:

Stream down again...? They were just complimenting their tech for the stream too LOL

@N: I guess they could change TL's projectiles to something more iconic to him

Agreed.

I may stick around just to compare the development process of Smash 4 incomparison to Melee and Brawl. But after that I'll either be working on competitive Smash 4 or become one of the veteran spectators who only occasionally checks in and schools the newbies. :smirk:

On a side note, y'all should mention how whats' happening in the live stream makes you think about something that could/should/might happen in smash 4.

And I'ma gonna stick around these boards forever. I may leave a few months at a time, maybe even almost a year, but I'ma gonna be one of them ole willy members talking about when wave dashing was walking, and walking was getting ***** by a shine spike!

I am not going to bother with Smash 5 at all. I might after Smash 4 is released give a very long essay about my thoughts on Smash 4 and various paths I see for the series in regards to newcomers (as well who those characters will probably be).

However, I am definitely going into Smash 4 with less hype than I did for Melee or Brawl. There are much less characters that I am really anticipating this time than I did for Brawl.

I'm mostly hyped just for a new original smash bros game, potentially to watch competitively like Melee and (hopefully not too similar in gameplay to) Brawl. Not just that, but enjoying and playing the awesome game. And not just one smash game, but TWO!

And I'ma gonna be around a long time. I'll be here so long, my name will change from "Johnknight1" to "Johnwhitebeard1." :chuckle: ;) :awesome: :reverse: :) :bee: :scared: :woman: :embarrass: :glare: :smirk:

Agreed. I was originally neutral on the MK ban, but after watching this tournament, I'm for the ban now.

No way Tryphen. I'll be SO much more ChronoBound than you.
Go ahead, I'll be the next Oasis. Everyone knows he's Stronger anyway. :smirk:

While I can say with certainty right now that I'm not going into SSB4 with as much hype as I was with Melee or Brawl either, that can totally change if Sakurai does the Dojo updates again. My God, those were good times.

I still remembered me buying a Wii at launch solely because of how my I anticipated Brawl. Five years ago was such a long time ago. I also remembered Twilight Princess having far more hype than Skyward Sword ever did. Though it seems Japanese-developed games in general don't seem to get much hype anymore.

Skyward Sword seems really fun so far. Its going to be the last Wii game I play through, so hopefully its a great sendoff.

Also, I am probably one of the few that despite getting the Wii at launch, I bought Twilight Princess for the GameCube instead. I still consider Twilight Princess to mainly be a GameCube game (it was largely developed for the GameCube, and it was basically a Wii port).

Anyway, so far Ghirahim definitely seems like the best non-Ganon villain to the Zelda series, however, I am not yet convinced that Zelda should have a newcomer in Smash 4. Also, while Return to Dream Land endeared me to Waddle Dee, I don't think Smash 4 is his time just yet, and I think Kirby is just fine with the characters it currently has (that goes for Star Fox, Zelda, and Mother too).

I am hoping that Kid Icarus Uprising can convince me on Palutena and Medusa.

It seems so weird thinking about Smash4, just think about it when the game finally comes out and we remember all the speculating we did I wonder if any of it's going to come true. I'll be here for awhile though I'll probably be here for Smash5 hype :awesome:

If a Majora's Mask remake ends up happening, do you think that'll boost Skull Kid's chances at all?

The Dojo had month-long stretches of bad updates, such as well before before Ike was shown, before Sonic was revealed, the first month, and after Captain Olimar was revealed.

However, the thought of the Dojo was great. I just think there were too many bull crap updates, like "YOU MUST RECOVER!" That update would be fine... if there were like another update or 2 that weren't too big on the same day.

But some of Brawl's letdowns really lowered the bar.

Link getting more speed, and better moves, Zelda being more balanced overall, Ganondorf getting a mostly new moveset, Toon Link being a bit more unique to Link, then Impa being Sheik - either separate from Zelda, or transformation and I'm good with Zelda. Tingle would actually be cool to. Some characters you just like to have as an oppertunity to beat. But 6 characters seems a lot. If Mario gets 6, and Pokemon get 6~7 (which is a lot) I could see it happening.

Ghirahim is boring and a cliche (just like Krystal). Next character.

And yes, it is different from what you imagined when you speculated. I imagined Diddy Kong being a speedster with some tricks, not banana-centered. I thought Diddy Kong's moveset was a sure thing, but that one move completely changed what his style would have been (which would be similar to what I imagined).

No. If there is any non-Ganon villain who has a decent shot at getting in its Ghirahim.

Keep in mind that a lot of people wanted Skull Kid pre-Melee (which was the peak of his requests relative to other characters), however, his main problem was that after the Melee unveil, Ganondorf was by far the most requested newcomer for Melee.

I think I'm stuck with this game (I'm a huge nerd). I've been playing it for so long and I'm addicted. I am still anticipating this game. Heck, even at work, I was thinking about Brawl. I even liked the Subspace Emmisary. Since I've been working on a Youtube channel, I was thinking taking a week off of work to just play and figure out everything about SSB4. I will admit, I was more excited for Brawl, but I was younger then.

So I think Smash and I are stuck together. Another reason........

...is what Oasis said. I really want to see what they could add, even in SSB4.

This song does fit the mode Chronobound. Very sad and epic. Of saying bye to Smash.

I would prefer Skull Kid actually to Ghirahim IF Majora's Mask would be remade. Regular Young Link should then return to. For comic relief, make Young Link the more realistic looking Link, and the actual adult Link having his Skyward Sword design.

There isn't a Zelda character who is remotely interesting, unique, or popular enough to warrant a spot that isn't already in Zelda. Sure, you could argue Impa "replacing" Sheik (which I think is silly), but that's not a new character at all; That's a model swap.

And I'm actually more hyped for Smash 4 than Brawl. Now I know pretty much what to expect, and I think I got a better grip on the series. I think Sakurai does, too.
