Seeing how Sakurai kinda ignores the Nintendo-ignoring-Donkey Kong Country-fad I can see it happening yes. Totally.

Actually I think a lot of those comments for Geno were due to the "Beware the Forest Mushrooms" song. That was a very popular request during the time of the polls. I think Geno is going to go to the wayside once Smash 4 comes around. A lot of his support has already dwindled. Sure enough though there will be another "Geno" that will rear his or her head by the time the next game is further along.I think Geno has a bigger chance than he's given credit for. He's been considered according to Sakurai's journal and has had huge pre-Brawl support (not sure about Melee though). He is supposedly one of the first hacked characters into Brawl as well. Sakurai has to have noted his popularity by now. I'm sure Geno's crazy fans will be back once we get more information on Sm4sh. Just my two cents though.
Question for fun~
If Nintendo purchased the rights to Geno, would you say he's a shoe in?
Inspecific, but I'll humor the direction. The fact of the matter is you have included company relations and figures to express the importance of this character. It defeats the purpose of viewing a character for its capabilities, perhaps even its creativity.Star said:...And I didn't.
Your mother, quite Simply. Those things are difficult to recant.
Every game development cycle has had their "cult fanbase" character that is popular during the time of development and into the beginning of the next game, but dies off once the next game gets underway. During Melee it was Poo, and I'd probably say Banjo-Kazooie. During Brawl it has been Geno, and I'd throw in Gardevoir and Hector. When it comes to Square Enix, I would say that the best choice would be Slime. I'd also like to see Crono and Geno. However, at this current moment, because of how difficult it is to implement third-party characters, I really only expect a Capcom rep if there are new third-party characters (which even then, third-parties are not guarantee). It doesn't help that there aren't really any specific Square Enix case that is heavily requested (despite a somewhat large demand in Japan).
@Starphoenix: For a new Geno? It's very hard to tell at this time. Perhaps it could be Geno again or it could be Travis Touchdown.
Not the proper time or place, feel me?Your mother, quite Simply.
I wouldn't say Banjo-Kazooie. At the time, it was a successful two game franchise heading to get a third game on a Nintendo system (IIRC), so the support definitely came from somewhere. I would say that James Bond fit that more (remember the amount of votes he got in the Melee poll?) due to being a licensed character. For Brawl, Geno I agree with along with Gardevior, but Hector not so much. I'd argue that Lyn would fit it better since it was less important to FE7 then Hector and was one of the many females that was highly suggested to get in. It also crushed the Hector fan base if what I remember from ChronoBound's viewpoint is right.Every game development cycle has had their "cult fanbase" character that is popular during the time of development and into the beginning of the next game, but dies off once the next game gets underway. So have Slime/Black Mage AND Geno. It might cost a bit more, but honestly, he's a good choice that reps the RPG's. And fits Sakurai's criteria completely. Likewise, more sales for the VC version of SMRPG. So the money'll be made back quite easily. Of course, it's understandable to have only one SE rep. But eh.If we're getting a Square rep to .. well.. rep Square, it won't be Geno unfortunately. Many people consider Geno to be a Mario character (which he really is tbh). I don't think Square would let Geno in without getting one of their franchises repped first.![]()
Do you think the "Ridley" of speculation would be a title like the "Geno" is. Geno's a weird choice that gets behind for whatever reason, but then there's Ridley who everyone gets behind for all the reason in the world. AND NEITHER GET IN. If there were a "Ridley" of Melee, I wonder if it would be Diddy Kong? Wario? Dedede? I'm down with that for sure, but there will always be baboons whining that SE has two repsSo have Slime/Black Mage AND Geno. Yes, in the past I have discussed those things in great length. There is no inconsistency. I have explained in the past that third party characters are a much different situation than Nintendo owned character and licenses. When I wrote how Slime could hold a much better chance then given, I followed up with my reasons. After that there has been debate about how he can work. Which is what I have been responding to since that fake leak came out that had Slime listed as a character. My debate has been two fold, and I see no reason to keep regurgitating the same points when my argument is on something completely different. There is no inconsistency between the two, at least none I have been aware of.Inspecific, but I'll humor the direction. I understand the temptation to defend a character when their are doubts or dismissive attitudes over the conversation, but giving in to that temptation shows a sense of inconsistency. At the end of the day I'm not concerned about the direction of your words, but the implications that you are trying to impress.

Well I use Hector because at least Lyn made it as an Assist Trophy. Hector got diddly squat. So yes he was a fan character that found most of his support from Nsider (R.I.P).I wouldn't say Banjo-Kazooie. Who was the Ridley of Melee? Probably MetaKnight. EVERYONE wanted MetaKnight, I wanted MetaKnight. Everyone kept complaining how he deserved to be in Super Smash Bros and would be such an awesome character, so it was no surprise to me he was the first new character shown. I think people got a little more than they bargained for at the end of the day...Do you think the "Ridley" of speculation would be a title like the "Geno" is. @N: You BET I feel you. My hands are just ALL OVER YOU. Your nerves just can't get enough of their supple touch.![]()
Screw 'em. One's a Mario character, one's a new series.I'm down with that for sure, but there will always be baboons whining that SE has two reps![]()
I wish man. Geno & Mallow in Mario Kart?!?Seriously, Nintendo, just buy everything from SMRPG. PROBLEM SOLVED.
Seriously? I thought I remembered someone saying that people had thought Meta Knight was such a weird choice upon seeing the Brawl trailer. OH WELL.Who was the Ridley of Melee? Probably MetaKnight. I'd LOVE it. It'd be better than Queen Bee, amirite? Although I liked Metal Mario, and Lakitu wasn't a big deal.I wish man. Geno & Mallow in Mario Kart?!?![]()
No MetaKnight was seen as one of those notable absent characters like Ridley. People were quite disappointed he was not in the game. Coincidentally a lot of people thought Ridley was playable in the game because of his appearance in the intro. So there was some disappointment there too.Seriously? I thought I remembered someone saying that people had thought Meta Knight was such a weird choice upon seeing the Brawl trailer. OH WELL.
Personally, I'd prefer that indications of any haptics in my relationship between myself and you didn't bear relevance in this discussion. You BET I feel you. My hands are just ALL OVER YOU. Your nerves just can't get enough of their supple touch.![]()
Why didn't I think of that? From what I've observed the past six months or so, Waluigi looks to have a very vocal minority in supporters and younger gamers appears to love him. Expect the supporters to harp on the "represent the spin-off" and popularity argument.I wonder cult fanbases there are for this game as of now. Waluigi?
yeah hes a pretty good character.Let's put DK Jr. back into the spotlight 'cause I kinda want him in
