Agreed on the mini-games, Metal Overlord. And Smooth Criminal can't do that. He enjoys flaming people. The better idea is to report his flames, not feed his Trolling.
I only flame you, bucko.

I don't have beef with anybody else.

If you wanna search through my posts, you'll notice that most of my vitriol on the boards has been directed at you. Not nice to make blanket statements about people.

Oh wait. *slaps his head.* I've been doing that the whole time! Doesn't it suck?

Anyways, I think everyone should get their own personal Race to the Finish obstacle courses.

And also, I had an idea a while back where each franchise would get their own personalized All-Star rest areas.

For example, the Pokemon franchise would get the Pokemon Center as their All-Star rest area, Sonic would get the Chao Garden (Neutral version) as theirs, and Metroid would get Tallon Overworld (or Phendrana Drifts) as theirs.

What does everyone think of that?

It sounds cool, but that'd take up a huge amount of memory. I mean, the All-Star thing sounds great. But a Race to the Finish for everyone seems a little much. Remember, we can only do oh-so many unique stuff before we have too much. Race to the Finish was always a generic thing that everybody could easily play in. I'd keep that as one total, imo.

I guess you're right. It'd still be cool, though.

But as for my All-Star idea... to expand on it, they would all get their own healing items. LoZ would continue to get hearts, while Mario gets 1UP mushrooms, Kirby would get the Maxim Tomatoes, etc.

Didn't say it wouldn't be cool. I'm somewhat of a realist.

Also, yeah, that'd be perfect! ...Wait, does every series have a healing item, though?

It really would be nice to get Race to the Finish and Board the Platforms back.
Yes. I really liked the Trophy one too, that was an easy way to get three "free" trophies, heh. Also, my friend mentioned the "How to Play" stage from SSB64; they should make THAT a new Dreamland stage (seeing as how it has that BG to it?). It was always cool-looking and flat, so it would provide good fight scenes, or so I think.

Oh! Wouldn't it be sweet if they combined the Polygon Team + Fighting Wire Frames + Alloy Team and go against all three at once? It could last a little-bit longer than usual if used, anyways. I doubt they'd revert back to 64 and Melee, but you never know! :D

And I just thought of this new item idea: the Ocarnia of Time. Think about it. Only the watch can slow down time for your enemies (besides Shadow the Hedgehog), so why not add yet another item that can? When you pick it up, press A (or whatever button is mapped to use/fight with), and you'll hear the soothing melody of Ocarnia of Time, then everyone will be slow for (XXX) set amount of time.

I haven't seen or heard of that idea, so I thought I'd share it with y'all :)

EDIT: I didn't want to double-post, but I had another marvellous idea. What if, instead of just seeing the SAME old Poke'ball over and over, we could use/see ALL of them (E.g. Great Ball, Ultra Ball, Master Ball, Nest Ball, Dive Ball, Safari Ball, Timer Ball...the list goes on and on)?

I think it'd be a great idea; not only would it allow a different variety, but it would also allow us a better (yet still vague) idea of what TYPE a Poke'mon is in because of the ball presence (E.g. Poke'balls = common Poke'mon; Masterballs = RARE Poke'mon; etc.).

May be a bit more programming, but I think it'll be cool if they did that. Definitely something new.

I actually had a similar idea a while ago. Haha...

To add to the personalized rest areas, the healing items should be personalized, too. For example, Link and friends can keep the Hearts, while the StarFox crew gets supply boxes, Mario characters get 1-Up mushrooms, Olimar heals using his ship, Doc's chocolate bar for Little Mac, ect.

But yeah, I wholeheartedly agree to it. And I believe most series have healing items...

Indeed it is fabulous. I think I'm gonna really enjoy your presence around here, you seem very optimistic and full of ideas. :)

F-Zero doesn't, I don't think. But I'm sure Sora could come up with something creative.

Thanks! :D
I really enjoy the smash series and this forum, it's great talking to fellow smashers. And I don't know how much longer I'm supposed to be at home due to my enlistment with the Air Force. I think I'll be here (at most) another two months due to complications. If all else fails, I'll just move back to my home town, get an apartment with my best friend and "smash" it up! :D

And really, there are SO many ideas that aren't even thought of yet. I do like the recent one, however, of each character has different healing spots due to their game's allegiance. That's REALLY nifty :3.

@Metal Overlord: What Oasis said. Also, R.O.B. probably don't have anything. Samus has E-Tanks, Pokemon has Potions.

Also, Toon Link/Young Link should get a Bottle of Milk instead. :p

Lol, how would that work, though? Would he (and Goroh if he gets in) just run across the strips until they're used up?

As for R.O.B... I dunno, 3 pairs of batteries?

Smash is a Beat-'Em-Up, or practically it's own genre. Likewise.
That's why we want ideas from games that have similarities to Smash.

You can see why this is a problem right? =p Haha.
Smash is so unique the only way we can add anything is if its completely original.

But like you said its a platform-fighter. We don't just need to look at platformers for inspiration. I'm not saying do ALLLLLLLLLLLLLL that stuff kuma said. but I mean, one mechanics from a fighting game wouldn't hurt, ya know?

Or they could just stand on it. Alternatively, they pick up road strip models. ...That probably sounded a lot different than planned.

Batteries sound good.

Nope, it's both a beat-'em-up and a platform fighter. There's more than one platform fighter. So let's look at ideas from there. It's just too bad that most of them use too much technical fighter stuff. And no, Super Meters aren't needed when we have items. That's why they exist.

Got anything other than something that's technical fighter incarnate as an idea though?

TMNT Smash Up, Power Stone, Sonic Battle, mainly.

Atleast three series take the courses into count: Mortal Kombat(later games), Soul Series, and Killer Instinct Gold(might be the only one with stage Knock-offs)

Also, any game that has Platforming and Fighting could be applicable. Mortal Kombat: Subzero Mythologies had both Platforming and Fighting specifically. But I don't think it fully counts.

More like 4 AA batteries. D:
Actually, I think there are RADISHES in Gyromite. They distract the enemies in the game. I THINK.

I like the idea of an F-Zero cooldown strip just appearing on the stage as a stationary object that you can stand on to gain health. Creates a sort of... king of the hill effect? I like that idea A LOT.

What about Power Stone?

You pick up an item that gives you access to a powered-up version of your cha---

Oh wait, Smash has already done that.

As for the Sonic series... how about chili dogs as the healing items?

Sonic's love for them is officially canon now with Generations.

Brawl's graphics weren't anything special. They weren't bad by any means, they were just average.

Stage Builder is definitely a cool concept with a lot of potential, but overall it turned out to be pretty shallow.

And about the SSE... I honestly can't disagree with you more than I already am. But to each his own I guess. ;)

:phone:
I actually really like the graphics in Brawl, both in-game and for the cutscenes. They're pretty good as far as Wii graphics go imo. Agreed on the stage builder. Not that I don't really enjoy it, but it would be nice if it's a little more fleshed out in the next game (more pieces, custom backgrounds, etc). As for SSE, I'm one of the people who really liked it. In the next game, I hope the SSE sequel features more Nintendo themed worlds, with the correct enemies to the world. Then, rather than the great maze, i'd like to see a long, grueling segment just before the final boss where you have to fight the Brawl exclusive bosses and enemies. I'd make this level optional, and allow players to skip right to the final boss via cutscene, since I know that a lot of people didnt like SSE's enemies. It'd be cool though the way im thinking of it...

(rough idea): say you think you've beaten the final boss. But then, you find out he was working with Tabuu all along. Right now, you find out Tabuu and the Subspace army are back and ready to try their hand again at sucking up all the worlds into the subspace. They try to launch an attack, but somehow you're able to infiltrate the Subspace before you they fire. In order to escape, you need to fight each of SSE's original bosses (non-fracnhise bosses that is, so no petey or rayquaza). After that, you have to fight both Tabuu and the character you thought was the final boss before at the same time. Defeat them and you win the game.

I wasn't too thrilled with Brawl's event matches compared to Melee. Did like the multi player addition though.
Personally, I liked Brawl's better overall. Some good ones in Melee though, for sure.

I thought Brawl's event matches were absolute ****. You shouldn't be able to SET difficulty. IT'S SUPPOSED TO GET HARDER. On top of that, they just weren't even that cool.

That'd be an interesting stage feature, but as a strip that always appear in All-Star, it could be easily broken.

with the strip, it shows you an icon somewhere that indicates how many charges are left... basically, everything in all star mode would just be a heart container equivalent. Maxim Tomatoes will give you full life in this part of the mode, even if Samus' Space Ship usually allows an infinite amount of recovery, you only get three charges.... to further imply that you cant use it anymore, the ship powers down... (don't know what ridley will do... eh, he uses the space ship too... its what pirates do, dammit! they take!)

@August: That works.

@Luco: That's because it's one of the few games that has similar stages to Smash in general. Not many do.

Correct, Madame puff.

Instead of the same old Hearts in All-Star, making items specific to a characters' series instead.

ahh, meh. I'll do the post now.

Ok people's, because i love LoZ:LttP so very much, i have decided to do a stage from that game.(i'm sure there's room for two stages in SSB4). This stage will be set in *drum roll* Death mountain!

(sorry i could only find the light world version of the bridge)
This fight will take place in a few different places. The first place we have is the bridge. Players will be fighting on the bridge, with the cloud around and below. Occasionally, the clouds will part, revealing the ruined world below, and if you look hard enough, you might just be able to see the odd monster, jumping around or shooting out rocks. Every so often, lightning will streak through the clouds, threatening to harm the players(man this makes me want to do my FF stage again :( ). However, the lightning is energy, and can be deflected by fox's reflector or absorbed by lucas/ness' Psi Magnet, and so on. After a while, the bridge will break( either by a catalyst like on bridge of eldin, or by the players like on shadow moses island), sending the players tumbling down to the cliff faces.

Here the screen scrolls along in a mushroomy kingdom style, but a tad slower, like on DKs Bramble Blast(or maybe it's bramble waterfall or something:can't remember if it takes then name from the series or is a mix or something.), going slowly up while the players fight on platforms near doors in to various caves. Players can go through these caves and appear in others, and there's even a cave or two that will put the players in a new area. While climbing, the players will experience tumbling rocks going over the cliffs that may cause some damage, but they can be avoided, shielded, or destroyed. If the characters go in to one of the two 'entrance' caves they will experience 1 of 2 situations:

1. The players are put in a cave that consists of mostly spikes. on one end is the entrance, and on the other is a small chest(the player that hits this chest unlocks a good item such as a hammer, a star, a smash ball, a pokeball, all three dragoon pieces, an assist trophy, or another good item that may be added to SSB4, to be used by anyone that picks it up of course. After a while, a black circle quickly closes in on the centre of the screen and transports the players back outside(back to where they were, and they cannot go in the cave again until next time the level comes around to the area.

note: for any cave, only 1 player has to go in to activate the scene(or just a transportation cave((think of it like the pipes in mushroomy kingdom in SSB 64)) for that matter), and to go in to a cave, the player must press shield and then up(the cave is almost in the background, like SSE).

2. The players are taken to a fairy room(which will automatically cue cave fairy music) where there is a pool of water and several fairies flying about. Any player to touch these fairies recieves a 10% decrease in precentage, but there are only 5. After a while, the big fairy will come to you and ask you to relax, creating a small area where any characters in it automatically fall asleep, but also completely heal their HP(high risk, high reward). Like the other cave, after a while the players are taken back to the climbing area where they were.

At the top of the cave area, the players will be pushed on to turtle rock, where they will battle as best they can. Once in this area, a portal will appear that will briefly teleport all players to the light world turtle rock, where multiple rocks are there to pick up and throw at one another, but the characters are soon taken back to the dark world, when suddenly, the ether plate is activated! The turtle mouth opens and the camera flies in to the mouth of the cave, where the players are teleported to the inside of the dungeon!

The players go through yet another bridge, but this one is moving, and will not break. No, the danger here are the eyes on the side, which will occasionally open and shoot lasers at the players! As the players go to the end of the room, they will see the big door unlock itself and the players go to the boos room, where they must avoid the three headed serpent as it attacks them!

Do this for long enough and the three headed monster explodes! This will automatically transport the players up to(and i know this is a long stretch, but we can't have the level go on forever) the top of ganon's tower. At the very top the players will battle. The clouds are dark, lightning flashes across the sky(behind them this time) and it begins to rain heavily(making it a pretty epic place to battle).

The tower will flash colours below the players, and every so often, Agahnim will appear and try to cast magical balls of energy at you(which can be deflected with any timed attack, and also dodged). Eventually, Agahnim will fall, and the tower will crumble, sending the players falling down until they hit the base of the tower. Then the screen moves on in a mushroomy-kingdom fashion until the players reach the bridge, and the cycle begins again!

Tracks for the stage:
Legend of Zelda- A Link To The Past- Dark World(brawl version)
Legend of Zelda- A Link To The Past- Death Mountain(brawl version)
Legend of Zelda- A Link To The Past- Final Battle
Legend of Zelda- Ocarina of Time- Temple of Time(a note on this one: You may think it doesn't fit the mood, but i can imagine it doing so quite efficiently. It's the serenity of the dark storm, something you can listen to rain and thunder to. Oooh, it's hard to explain!)
Legend of Zelda- Twilight Princess- Ganon's Tower
Legend of Zelda- Twilight Princess- Puppet Zelda which leads in to Dark Beast Ganon, which leads in to Ganon on Horseback and finally to Dark Lord Ganon. These 4 songs should be linked together in to the ganon boss epic(or some collective name).
And of course, as the two tracks that will play when you go in to the caves, we have:
1. LoZ: LttP Cave theme
and 2. Fairy cave theme.
Sorry if it seemed like a poor selection of music. Feel free to add your own and i'll test it to see whether it fits. But yeah it's just it was surprisingly hard to think of good tracks for this one.

How do you like it?
I think this is it.

I'm back from our campus tournament. I lost first round, I was out of practice and I got stuck with one of those ****y Gamestop controllers. It was a joke though, they didn't have any rules, items were allowed, any stage, and the best player was a Falcon who loved to Meteor Smash.

So what did I miss?

Y'know, talking about adding new healing items to the game, I'm surprised to see that there haven't been any Wario or DK Land ones mentioned yet.

For Wario...how about Garlic and Onions? He LOVES eating those (or, in Wario Land 3, he did...good times :D). Something about powering him up? Can't remember. He also used them as health bars in Wario World (Gamecube).

They should put in more WarioWare characters as well, now that I'm thinking about it...I mean, who wouldn't want to play as Kat and Ana (sort-of like Ice Climbers play?), or 9-Volt (Because of his vast Game knowledge, could be a little bit like Game and Watch), or Mona?

As for Donkey Kong and it's denizens...the fruit! In Donkey Kong 64, they each used guns with different ammo for it all, amirite? So, just add them all; Oranges (they were the grenades), Bananas (I think they're meant as a tactic-item, not a health item in Brawl), Coconuts, Grapes; the works! And on top of that, they should give DK his old gun back from that game as well. So he also has a projectile, albeit a bit slow. What move to take out? Who knows. Just another great idea I had :).

I always thought that Chunky, Funky, and Lanky Kong would all make great Sm4sh Bros characters. Chunky as a big, bulky strong type (because we all need a giant monkey on our side, hahah :p), Funky as someone having tools and bikes as his weapons, and lastly, Lanky as a rubbery-ish character that has a great grab reach. That could be easily abused, but I think it'd be to his advantage.
