I think SSB4 needs DOWNLOADABLE CONTENT. Download characters with Coins, eh? But with a limited amount of characters u can download only. Example, u have, oh say, 40 characters in all, but you can get a maximum of 60, ya know?
10 characters is a lot of DLC, dude, let alone 20...

Eh, I dunno. One of them might come out sooner than such. Which one? Definatly the 3DS one. The Wii U might take longer, but I'm not sure. Man, maybe I can sleep it all away, ya know?
No way. I bet you anything they'll release at the exact same time. Universal rosters and such. Universal release dates are what I'm betting.

it can be developed by 2013 and still be the perfect game we all want, I have seen other games come out in a shorter time span and do all right
That's not happening. Sakurai has stated that the game isn't even in development. Once we get KI, he'll start on Smash. 2013 is too soon. This title is TOO MASSIVE to screw up.

Actually to fix all the issues such as online, character balances and such, we don't need Smash 4 to be rushed whatsoever, if Smash 4 truly is "The Smash to end em' all" then it needs to be as perfect as possible which means they should release it 2014 (at earliest)

So be it. We don't know what the Wii U can hold for memory, do we? It's the newest console, so obviously it'll be better than the other consoles. Maybe it might hold them. And personally we need to get back to old times sake, which is clones. Although I didn't like them (but love playing as them).

True, true. They've done it with other games... But I really care less on when they come out (don't take that wrong, I want it to at least come out in 2014), because I'll be out of school by then, and probably B too busy to buy it. Damn it...

It's not a matter of can't, it's a matter of won't. I don't even recall a fighting game having 10+ characters as DLC. The Mortal Kombat reboot got 4 characters as DLC and the devs are reluctant to even go pass that...

NO, but Smash is different, given it has mechanics and alot of technical issues, the team has alot of work on their hands, besides, we haven't even seen a e3 trailer yet, we didn't even get one at e3 2011, so ideally doubt Sakurai would release a trailer at e3 2012 and be done the following year, it's just not going to happen that way, I'm sorry.

Exactly. MvC3 had two...which should have been none. Mortal Kombat is the most DLC I've heard of, in terms of characters.

And we may not even see a trailer E3 2012.

U see, that's where I see it to be not a problem. I mean, sure, we'd see only, like, 4 to 5 DLCs, but that's only because of what they had to work with. With better technology comes easier crafting, you get what I mean? When they start doing characters, they might not even do downloads. Who honestly can predict the future?
The Wii U isn't going to have a leap like PS2 to PS3. It's going to be only SLIGHTLY better than the PS3. Affordablilty is what Ninty is about.

The only DLC characters I'm expecting are those that would actually get cut or...those vets from Melee, excluding Mewtwo and possibly Roy.
I don't think we'll get any.

Let it be so, It'll still be better. In anyway shape or form. I couldn't care less about the number of characters, to tell you the truth. I just want it to be a good game. When it comes out, the SSB4 thread WILL have more hits then MK's ban. So imagine it being bad. I care about quality, not quanity.

The way Sakurai is talking about competitive balance, and reading up on hitboxes (Well, he always has, he just showed his fans he is via twitter) makes me believe this will be the Melee sequal I've been looking for. It could be the best so far.

If this is a sequal to Melee, you'll be seeing me on the highway asking for change to buy this game XD (if I didn't have enough money 2 buy it). Everyone's been looking for this "real gold", so I wouldn't let it pass Mr. Sakurai to research on such and so. If we're talking about limits, than what about stages?

Sakurai seems like he really wants to innovate the series based on his comments on the new DQ game and based on the scraps of info we have on these games.

For the most part, you can't truly be innovative if you don't have deep gameplay.

So, with that said, competitive Smashers will probably be pleased with 4, at least moreso than most were with Brawl.

I remember reading earlier that it was announced there will be DLC in SSB4. This can include just about anything. Characters, Items, Events, Courses, Modes, Stickers, Trophies, Songs. And anything I may have missed.

And this isn't including patches. Anything's possible.

Also, contrary to popular belief, all 3 games have their competitive side. Brawl was definitely made more casual-like, but it's still be used as a competitive game.

I was fine with all of them in competitive and casual aspect.

@Hyper: Do you have a link to that article of it being confirmed fir SSB4 specifically? Or do you mean DLC for Nintendo in general?

OK, I had a weird idea. Everyone suggests DLC characters, DLC stages, DLC music, etc.

How about DLC bosses for Boss Battle mode?

The main use is to provide enough bosses to where they all combined represent a history of Nintendo THROUGH THE BOSSES IN IT'S GAMES.

For example, we get Kraid as the boss for Adventure Mode (assuming Ridley becomes playable). Then, for DLC, we get Metroid Prime and Phantoon (Other M).

Then in Boss Battle mode, you'll encounter those three in order mixed with bosses from the other franchises to create a very unique "tour" of Nintendo's history through Nintendo's best boss battles.

It can even go in order backwards, ending with a gigantic, tie-less Donkey Kong.

@asage: I thought "modes" covered that, actually.

And god yes, past stages. I want every possible stage to fight on available. Hell, they could do a remade Home Run Contest stage.(that'd be sweet)

Also, let me be honest about Brawl for a second: About the only thing I would indefinitely change is giving characters their own Target Tests again. That felt lazy.

@King: ...Nope. As I said, I read about it earlier. And it was referring to SSB4 DLC.

Oh, come on, MK Chess was great! I always put Shao Kahn as my grunt. And, oddly enough, the Shapeling or whatever as Noob Smoke. I think Shang Tsung was in that game, but...

He made in appearance in that game (Deception), but he wasn't playable.

I liked MK Chess. :urg:

@Java- Kyurem would make a good DLC boss, IMO.

Ah. I wish MK Chess would've returned in 9. I mean, I have no idea who I'd pick for a new Grunt. Perhaps Jax? When you think about it, the list of Muscle Men in MK is pretty darn low.

Also, Subzero for SSB4. :p

Seems you actually knew how to play and enjoyed it, I for one never know how to play it, I did however enjoy Kombat Puzzle like tetris which I really enjoyed while having the "chibi" versions of some characters on-screen.

Ed Boon said Puzzle Kombat and Chess might return in future installments (along with friendships ).

I'd rather have Ermac so we can have Mewtwo vs Ermac fights.

Or Kenshi if Mewtwo had his spoon sword with him. :)
