I'm doing everyone a favor and posting a schedule for the next month. The most important item on the agenda is NYTE. Read it carefully if you're interested. Mark your calendars, because I won't change these dates
1. Dylanfest on Friday, March 9. Featuring ABQ's first ever Street Fighter X Tekken tournament.
2. Neilfest all day Saturday, March 10. First one of spring break. Starts around 2 pm.
3. Davisfest on Tuesday, March 13. Board games from a long-lost friend.
4. Neilfest #2 on Thursday, March 15. All day.
5. Dylanfest #2 on Friday, March 16.
6. RanBat on Saturday, March 17.
7. Neilfest #3 on Sunday, March 18. Stay late; suffer Monday morning. Deal with it.
8. UNM Anime Club Brawl Tournament on Saturday, March 24.
9. Nicknyte Yearly Tournament Extravaganza / AXE's Birthday Tournament. Events from Friday, April 6 to Sunday, April 8. New Mexico is guaranteed to attend: (1) the twins already confirmed their car, (2) I already promised my car, and (3) I'm interested in an OOS event by my own devices for once
I. SCHEDULE AND INFORMATION
Official tournament thread
Friday Side Event and Tournament
Pre-Registration Website
And my very sexy Arizona boyfriend guaranteed us housing.
We can either depart early Friday morning (like 6 am) or Thursday evening instead. Either way, we'll squeeze in practice at someone's house beforehand AND make the Pre-NYTE tournament. Also, I have an important biochemistry exam at 9 am Monday. So we'll depart Tucson no later than 11 pm Sunday.
If you want to go, you must get school/work off for Friday/Saturday.
II. MONEY AND OTHER PREREQUISITES
I will be conservative with estimates on all categories. Tucson is 450 miles away, my 2008 Toyota Corolla gets 35 MPG highway, and I project gas prices at $3.50. If you do the math, the round trip will cost $90. Divided among 5 of us, we'll settle on $20 per person. We're going to In-N-Out Burger at LEAST twice, so I expect you to bring $10 per day for food. So $35-40 should cover food. You decide the entry fee costs, with a price floor of $20 on venue fee.
$20 fuel + $35 food + ~$35 fees = $90.
To road trip with us, you need to (1) have at least $100, (2) promise to shower daily, and (3) represent NM well.
III. CONFIRMATION OF ATTENDANCE ON A FIRST-COME-FIRST-SERVE BASIS
This is the most challenging section. A LOT of NM players are interested in this event, and we're already taking 2 cars. I have to be strict here, because Ian from Florida must resolve his attendance ASAP. He's in a unique position - his available savings are about equal to the projected costs, and based on the reservation patterns in the website, the price of airline tickets are likely to increase after next few week, disallowing his attendance. Here's what I'm going to do. Over this week,
I expect everyone who's interested to reply. Don't be shy or make assumptions. Post. Explicitly tell me that at the moment, you're guaranteed and confirmed and 100% positive you can go. Clearly explain that you have the money and time to go, and you do not foresee yourself quitting out at the last minute (barring some unexpected circumstance like severe illness).
I'm going to list everyone below who's expressed interest to me at least once in the past. I'm doing this annoying stuff because both cars will fill up fast. All 10 spots will probably be claimed (while satisfying the ha
rdass criteria above), then seats will be on a first-come-first-serve basis. I'm sorry, but it's obvious NM will attend NYTE in full force and all 10 seats will eventually be taken
