Protip: The large majority thinks Marth's current combat design is satisfying.

So let me ask you again, are you going to try and give the thread a full & critical reflection on why Marth's (or other sword character's) "Swipe-a-thon" design is bad while also presenting your argument respectfully? Or can I feel accomplished in never giving you the time of day again? Your call.

Edit: This is all without me even addressing that you're bringing up a subject that has no place in the Clone Engine Character Vote thread. The only reason it's even tolerated is because of the idea of Ganondorf/Black Shadow which would still result in a new character being inserted into the game. You're suggesting a move set change with no one else absorbing the old one and that's not what this thread is for.
Yeah, um, someone else mentioned that this isn't really the place for this and a link to a better thread was provided to discuss it so, would you all stop trying to start a discussion in here?

I agree. If you're going to continue, take this elsewhere. We're off topic enough as it is.
I second this notion. There is no point to this argument because it is a clash of two opinions that will never be changed. To state something relative to the thread, does anyone have any character ideas they would like to discuss? There are plenty of characters left to support who haven't got a lot of discussion time. I'll toss out some random names:

-Takamaru
-Lip
-Ashley (Wario Ware)
-Ashley (Trace Memory)
-Jimmy T.
-Midna
-Agitha
-Saki
-Tom Nook
-Andy
-Ballon Fighter
-Mach Rider

I'd like to hear more for Balloon Fighter, Mach Rider and Ashley (Wario Ware). Also Jimmy T and possibly Andy.

Wait, did someone actually talk about Ashley (Trace Memory)? This is a first for me.

She was brought up very briefly, but I still don't see much they could do with her. I wouldn't mind seeing some concepts made up though.

Y'all already know how I feel about Takamaru and Lip. Those two are by far my most wanted entrants in anything Smash. Not only would they bring a lot to the table with Takamaru being Nintendo's Kenshin and Lip having access to an amazing core game play gimmick & Nintendo's puzzle game history, but it'd act as a psuedo reunion of Captain Rainbow alumni. (Remember, in Captain Rainbow, each of the Nintendo characters there wanted to get over their quirk so they could be popular again.)

Actually, I'm curious, how does everyone here feel about Takamaru and Lip's moveset potential?

The Midna/Wolf Link idea seems like it has a lot of potential to me, but it would require a bit more thought than an IC clone to make it work as I see it. I mean, an IC clone would be pretty cool too, but their Up B could be a warp like in the games, and could operate much like Zelda/Shieks Up B, maybe with a little less lag time. Also as Wolf Link being basically the one doing most of the movement on stage, I can see the pair being a pretty fast paced character.

They could make her a very UMvC3 Phoenix Wright styled character. As far as I could tell, her games are very puzzle oriented and detective work.

I always imagined that Midna/Wolf Link's Up B would be Midna using her hair to grab on the ledge like a tether, while the teleport would be exclusive to Forward or Down B but your idea works too :)

I believe both Lip and Tak have really great moveset potential and I share your sentiment. I would really like for one of them to make it in, although I'm not that confident in their chances.

I see UpB as the teleport and SideB as a command grab with Midna's "hair". To be honest, the specials could be almost identical for solo Midna and Wolf Link/Midna combo, just the normals would be different.

When you think about it, Wolf Link may even just hold Midna back from being all that she could be as a fighter. He's a purely physical fighter, so there's not that much you can do with him. Bite, claw, dig... that's pretty much it. Midna has her incredible hair and her magic, though.

That could work well too, however on that note their grab could be a grapple with midna's hair, and could add to the recovery options

Solo Midna I see playing more like a Ness/Lucas clone to be honest, which I'm sure you're unopposed too haha (maybe I'm wrong), but the idea of hybrid between a Ness-like character riding on top of a fast wolf character just seems like it adds a bit more

Lol, if there was going to be another Ness/Lucas type character, I wouldn't want it to be Midna. That spot's reserved in my head for Ninten.

No, I actually imagined Solo Midna as being more like Mewtwo, hovering and floating just above the ground in some animations, having a hover and Teleport and all that jazz with the hair being somewhat like his tail and the Darkness effects perhaps having Twilight graphics.

I feel like Wolf Link would almost be superfluous. I can see him acting as a good way for Midna to be faster and heavier than she would otherwise be and for clawing and biting normals, but he always was kind of underwhelming to me.

Yea I can see that, he does have a tail spin attack (Dsmash?) but you're right in the fact that I feel Midna would dominate the moveset. It's different from IC in the sense they don't have the same moves, but maybe that can be a good thing if it's balanced correctly. The idea of desyncing with these two is just too damn exciting, but it's hard to imagine with essentially two different movesets/frame data. Another thought is wolf link could be part of Midna's moveset, as a Side B like Wario's Bike

Why isn't Cyborg Ninja from Metal Gear Solid on this list? He appeared in Smash as an awesome assist trophy and was an awesome boss in his source game, plus he's a ****ing Cyborg Ninja

Generally people want Nintendo characters, so often MGS and Sonic characters aren't receiver well. That said, it isn't something I'm opposed to.

No idea who you're talking about, but Cyborg Ninjas sound pretty cool.

My suggestions are:

1 VOTE:

Pichu: He could be a faster Pikachu with les powerful attacks and could have something unique to him.

........Yeah he's the only one I can think of fully voting on.

1/2 VOTE:

Tails: (Clone of Sonic? IDK) If it is possible, it would be nice for him to be in the game for how much recovery he could have and may have as much power as Sonic.

That is also the only one I can think of.

DOWN VOTE: I actually have a decent amount of down votes.

Knuckles: Too many Sonic characters (if adding Tails wasn't enough already)
Ridley: Like the rest of the world says: Too Big.
Pokemon Trainer / Red: Just, fighting by himself? No pokemon? I don't see that happening. Didn't like the trainer in Brawl, not gonna like him here.
Tom Nook: Villager? Maybe. But I just don't see Tom Nook as a fighter.

Please do not hate, as this is possibly only one moron's opinion.

eeh, i'm not huge on gray fox. snake already is a jarring character to put in smash next to the rather colourful cast it already has - the only character i think that could possibly sneak in is Otacon. heh.

i think we should all keep in mind we should want to see clones of characters who haven't been cloned yet. PMBR did an amazing job building mewtwo up from lucario, to the point where their nB moves are the only similarity they have. for example, I'd like to see Lyndis based off of ZSSamus, Sami Based off of Snake, knuckles off sonic ect.

don't hate me for that. I'd actually find Knuckles pretty neat in this. sega's got a long, looooong history with nintendo (when they're not killing valkyria chronicles+ other games in the west) PARTICULARLY with the sonic series, and really Knuckles is probably the least offensive of the cast.

actually, regarding the Andy vs. Sami arguement, I prefer Sami because really, there is no "main protagonist" in the advanced wars series. In the first game the first orange star CO you are in regular contact through the tutorial is actually Nell - way before Andy starts wondering what an airport is. Orange Star collectively should be considered the series' main protagonists (sans Days of Ruin), though (personally) Andy has always been the CO I've least wanted to use. Sami's infantry focus and even Max's direct combat focus is just always more interesting to utilize than a co who neither buffs or debuffs his unit's base stats, and who's power and gimmick is simply restoring HP to his units across the field (+ a buff). wrenches. I guess he just feels too "training wheels"-ey for me as character.

so yeah,

Lyndis
Sami
Dixie Kong
Takamaru/Dark Samus (IT'S JUST EASIER THAN RIDLEY...)
and Isaac

that's my Ideal use of the 5 clone engine slots left.

They don't have fingers, let's just put it that way.
>go to use a Lyn AT skin from brawl vault on marth
>actually focus on the model during the pause screen

I mean, JESUS. while I understand less needed to go into the assist trophies, it still just looks terrible.

It was never about less needing to go into them. Having so much going on during a battle with really high detail puts a strain on the Wii's processors, so Assist Trophies were low-poly by necessity.

-kind- of what I was implying. it's the same reason the AT's in SmashU/3DS will be restricted to 30fps.

the brawl AT models are still horrible to look at.

Am I allowed to vote for the reskinned Ganondorf as Black Shadow without having to vote for Ganondorf with a new moveset?

For my vote I'll give my vote to:
+1
Isaac (favorite character off all time)
Pichu (Because is cute and can be pretty annoying to play against)
Skull Kid (I like is design en Majora's Mask is a great game)
Bowser Jr. (Why not?)
Lynn (Pretty cool and need more female representative even if Hector fit better. And he use an ax! )

-1
Sakupon (Why? but why?)
Krystal (Too much space animal....)
Pokemon Trainer/Red (No!... Nooooo!)
Toad (he's so annoying....)

No since you're better off just going to Brawl Vault for a skin, the clone engine has no use for it.
