Well Smash64 was pretty different. No airdodges, no walltechs, no charged smashes, no side-specials, no up/down throw, piles and piles of hit-stun.

Reality 64 is a project to mod Brawl into 64 physics. Keeps the side-specials though.

I've never hear of that particular mod. Going completely off topic here, do you guys think this mod will eventually become as popular as Project M?

It gives us an easier time fighting Link :troll:

In reality I don't like it, but I don't want the Franklin Badge gone because that means losing an element of the Mother series.

I was actually kind of sad the Curry had to go for Turbo mode. Not that I'm looking back on it and thinking the Curry was superior, it's just a nice nod to Kirby's first game leaving was pretty sad.

The new modes should have actual references to Nintendo games to compensate, that electric triangle thing just looks generic.
I'm with you on this one. Mother needs all the love it can get. Clear Mode should get kicked out instead.
Since we're on the subject of items, it would be really, really great if Red Shells and Parasols could make a comeback.

Pretty please, PMBR?

I never liked red shells. Parasols were cool tho.

This is starting to get way off-topic, maybe there should be a mode thread? This thread is supposed to be for character discussion, or is everyone done with that now?

I think no one cares because the voting is over.

Technically it's not.

Red shell is a candidate for the clone engine since it would have to be a modified green shell. :troll:

The voting is over? Who won the vote?
....You don't really win a vote. This is just to get a view of who the players would want in Project M. This thread has no effect on the PMBR's final choices on who would be made playable in Project M.

If you want to know who got the best rating, it would be Issac from Golden Sun.

Shadow could be cool, I would have preferred Tails, but I do think with how many of the Sonic games are main on the Nintendo, Sonic should get another representative. Maybe his moves would be centered around speed and power, utilizing his hover/rocket boots and Chaos Control?

I could see some of his smash moves using his rocket shoes, and even leaving behind a flame effect from the rockets, maybe one of them would even be like a flaming kickback that'll be almost entirely explosive? His down smash could of course be the Spin Kick. Oh maybe his basic smashes would be kicks and such, but charging them up would have a rocket effect that does additional damage with fire and explosions?

Also, alt costume could use his Sir Lancelot costume! (minus the sword of course)

Shadow didn't win the vote lol.

But yeah shadow has a lot of potential.

Check out "Sonic Battle" It's a game on the GBA where shadow has a pretty damn good moveset they could of taken a lot of inspiration from.

Also, wouldn't Shadow be quite easy to add on, since he already has an Assist Trophy, meaning he should already have a fully mobile skin. Just add that pre-rendered skin over Sonic as a base, and from there it's just a matter of giving him his own moveset, right?

I mean I guess I make it sound easy, but in the end it should be a lot easier to do than Mewtwo, who needed a whole skeleton made from scratch! I don't even know if Tails could be as easily added, since I don't know how rendered that background Tails is from Greenhill Zone.

Also, for one of taunts he has to pull out the gun from his own game

But that's as far as I want it to go, hopefully they wouldn't give him the gun as part of his moves, keep that gun where Ganondorf keeps his sword! Heh heh!

For his Up+Special, maybe Shadow could either use Chaos Control to teleport, or maybe instead, give him a series of rocket boosts, similar to Star Fox and R.O.B., like he would have Hover Boot Rockets that shoot him off, and maybe give him 2 or even 3, that way he could rocket a few times. Damage would really only be done by the flames coming out of his shoes to even out how much air recovery he gets from this? Just an idea.

Just need to break it to you: Shadow placed bottom of all possible choices, so try not to get enthusiatic about his chances.

The PMBR (i.e. the people behind this mod) said they won't be using assist trophies as character bases because they're not as detailed as they'd like them to be. So no, he wouldn't be easy to add unless he was a straight Sonic clone, and even then that'd take at least 400 hours of manpower.

They make every model from scratch. The Assist Trophy model doesn't mean anything.
Shadow probably won't make it since he's very disliked. In fact, if anyone "lost" the poll, it would be him.
Feel free to talk about and hope for him, though.

EDIT: rlly edge

So, will this now turn in to the mode thread?
Naw. It's just what is being discussed at the moment. When people start discussing something else, discussion shall switch.

Maybe someone will throw out a new character idea that blows people away.

That's a shame, although I suppose to be fair this thread has no real impact on what PM will actually do, so just because Shadow 'lost' doesn't mean he won't be added.

Personally after taking a closer look, he's pretty awesome! I'd love to think that fingersnap Chaos Control would be his Special or Side+Special!

What if we discussed Takamaru even though we think he'll be in Smash 4? It can't hurt anymore since voting's over.

Personally I'd like him to be a katana user who throws shuriken around and such. Maybe he could take inspiration from his modern counterpart, the Sakura Samurai from that eShop game, like throwing frogs around.

I dunno, we just never discussed him properly. Plus it won't be a big deal if he turns out to be in Smash 4 because we could just talk ahout others then.

I'd rather continue talking about Shadow, as now I am enjoying what I am seeing! Yeah I know he did not score high with the votes, but that doesn't mean much! So far I think a Shadow moveset would include:

Smash: C. Nightmare, a good neutral attack, hits from both sides as well, front and back, making it stupid useful!
Combo Smash: The combo of punches and kicks that ends with C. Nightmare.

Down Smash: Spin Kick, with a charge mechanic that fires up Shadow's Hover Shoes for the spin, full charge means fiery exhaust and more damage!
Special: Chaos Magic, snap and boom!
Forward Special: Chaos Spear, with the option to charge it for more power.
Down Special: Shadow Guard, impenetrable orb of Chaos Control, good for shielding and punishing, similar to reflector, but doesn't reflect projectiles and does more damage on contact.
Up Special: Chaos Control or Hover Boot Rockets: Whichever works best mechanically, a teleport or a multiple directional boost!
Final Smash: Inhibitor Rings, Shadow removes his rings and all of his Chaos power is supercharged, increasing in size and damage! Better option than a Super Sonic clone IMO.

Not sure about the Up Smash and Forward Smash though, or Grabs yet, just some basic ideas on what I've seen so far.

Doesn't he also use magic?

Dude, remember that Sonic had like, one or two articles. (Correct me if I'm wrong) This means that if Shadow is cloned from Sonic, he would have very little projectiles.
Also, a lot of the stuff that you are describing would take TONS of time to program. Remember, there is a limit to what the PMBR can achieve.

Sonic has his spring, but that's only 1 or 2 different projectiles that could be made.
Good enough, considering Shadow doesn't need more than just 1 projectile to begin with. Save the speedy run and gun tactics to Ray.

Yeah, I think he can use fire, too. Correct me if I'm wrong though.
The only instances of which I've seen him physically use fire are somersaulting with the flame ring from SA2, attacking with ignited air skates, and his burning barrier in the Shadow the Hedgehog game.

Otherwise, I can't think of any other instances myself.

Don't forget that he would have to have an air dash.

That would give him aerial approach like a madman. Would make him an interesting character.

I was referring to Takamaru lol. Nah I don't know how Shadow would use fire.

Has anyone actually played Takamaru's game? I haven't, though I've seen JewWario's review of it, may he rest in peace.

Social Thread v2 until someone good comes up? Hmm.

I don't know anything about Takamaru, unfortunately, except that he's a samurai with a katana.

This is why I feel voting needs to continue as I mentioned before, this thread is gonna die out otherwise. I'm down to assist with this, as are some others, we just need some collaboration and get Anti Guy's approval.

Until then, uh, Takamaru is alright. I don't know why people expect him in Smash 4, I guess because he was featured in Nintendo Land? Otherwise I have no idea, and I don't really have anything particularly positive to add in support of a P:M appearance. He's Nintendo's first samurai, his game was 'remade' within Samurai Warriors 3 which I found neat, but otherwise he is just a cameo character with wildly distinct (or non-existent) personalities between each of his iterations in games. He's hard to pin down, so I can't determine if I really 'like' him enough to support him.

I would gladly help set it up so we can collab it together. Anti Guy said he wouldn't mind and even mentioned he would give us his spreadsheet if we wanted to continue.

I think it would be good for one of us to be made the OP so we can update it without bothering Anti Guy. He said he would be willing to update it occasionally, but I wouldn't want to bother him with it.

If we start voting again, I think we should keep going until maybe October 2014. That way we have a whole year of votes for reference.

Still, 5 months of voting was a pretty good indicator of what the general public thinks (at least, the portion of which goes to Smashboards :p ). If we continued it, the only real impact it would have is on late characters like Ray, Ninten, Sakurai's Cat, etc.

Yeah, pretty much. Everyone else is in Smash Bros. already, if you count Octopus Dance as G dubs.
